      As a young bi-aro who only realized yesterday my very high aromanticism, one of my biggest worries was not being able to experience love that non-aro people do. As an aromantic, I still want a long-term relationship that may manifest some aspects of romantic relationships, yet my aromanticism and lack of aro models in my life is leading me to believe that that's unachievable.
      Which is why I want to say that reading your comment about your relationship as an aromantic with a possibly non-aro wife brings me a tremendous amount of comfort as someone who is only getting to know this part of myself. Thank you and I wish you a happy life together!

    I got "You are likely aromantic." unsurprisingly. When I first looked into aromantisism and asexuality I though "damn that's totally me" and I haven't questioned it for a second since. I still remember how relived I was that I never have to have a romantic or sexual relationship with anyone. And I've been so much happier since then because everytime I pictured myself being in a romantic relationship it just felt miserable and ruin my mood for the entire day.
    I would love to see you talk more about it If you'd like to.

    I got that I could be on the aromantic spectrum, which I've basically concluded is true over the last couple of years. I do occasionally get strong aesthetic attraction to people, and I like the idea of romance, it just almost never visits my door. There's only been maybe three people in the last 25 years that I've experienced anything resembling a crush on, and one of them was much more of a squish than a true crush.

    Most quizzes put me down for demi or gray. Spoiler alert, I’m actually aro/ace but have some microlabels going on that, long story short, mess with my head, and I also experience very strong emotional and platonic attraction that I’ve mistaken for crushes in the past. And yes, it is possible to feel an immediate emotional bond with someone that’s not romantic or sexual. I’ve experienced it and I’m still friends with those people.

    I got "You are likely aromantic." I know I am but I am finding it incredibly hard to accept. I feel like my friends will leave me behind and I won't be valued as much as their romantic partners or like I'll be unlovable if I accept that I am aromantic. (I know it's not true and that there are QPRs but I can't seem to shake those thoughts)

  • @mkitten13
    @mkitten13 6 месяцев назад

    My answers didn't diverge too far from yours (we had several overlaps), but I got. "You could be aromantic" For me my experience is that I very rarely at all catch any feelings for real people. And my two experiences (nearly a decade apart, and the last one over a decade ago) happened so differently so it wasn't so simple as just needing a strong bond first to catch the feelings. One of the experiences was a slowburn with a friend I was living with, something happening subconsciously and was only confronted when she revealed to me that she had feelings for me. The second happened on an LGBT+ dating site, where just from our written communication back and forth I formed this really intense need to meet her in person and when we did meet the feeling continued. Outside of those two experiences I've mostly just been confused and frustrated. Like I have confused flattery with catching feelings, I've misinterpreted other things for feelings and gotten caught up in confusing and uncomfortable situations where I couldn't express clearly to myself or the other person what was really going on. The biggest thing that kept me from considering myself a possible aromantic for a very long time (I'm turning 40 soon) was my love of romantic media, my shipping of characters left and right, but finding the aego-label has helped me figure things out. I don't lack a desire for romance, I just almost never catch feelings and navigating this with actual people gets confusing and frustrating. And people just don't seem to understand my perspective. I've been told I'm too picky, or that I've chosen to stay single, etc.

    question 6, I don't know anything about crushes (I'm aromantic) but isn't the butterflies like the standard assumed requirement kinda thing? A lot of these questions feel like they could use some nuance, it's a good basic quiz for someone who is less familiar with the whole thing I think

    I got demiromantic as well.
    It's what I already identity as. But I've only ever experienced romantic attraction once, and now I have no clue what it actually feels like after the romantic relationship I had with that one person ended.

  • @mirandarensberger6919
    @mirandarensberger6919 18 дней назад

    Yeah, I'm definitely aro. I have an issue with question 9 on the quiz, though. The most aro answer choice is "Nah, it kinda feels like I have to, though." Where's just "Nah, full stop"? Because I've never felt like I had to.
    Also, I felt like the kissing question skewed my results a bit to make me sound less aro than I am. I know a lot of people see kissing as a romantic thing, but to me it's just a precursor to sex. Since I'm not ace, I'm fine with it, but the quiz is written in a way that makes enjoying kissing seem less aro.
    Edit: I know it's a spectrum, but my point is that I like kissing in an allosexual way, not an alloromantic way, and the quiz doesn't make that distinction.

    I got 'you are likely' aromantic'. Which is true. I am extremely aro and ace. But I'm also demi/panalterous... I only discovered that earlier this year... it's weird... having feelings that are somewhere in between romantic and platonic but also neither of them... but it's also beautiful in its own way. Like, I love relationships that stand in defiance of all cultural norms. And I wish that qprs got more representation.

  • @Pixis1

    Haven't taken the quiz yet but, listening to your answers, I'm likely demiromantic as well. A strong emotional bond has always been important to me and I've frequently developed crushes on friends of the opposite gender. Lately, I've been leaning towards the aromantic side since I've gotten a bit disgusted with dating and have de-prioritized it in my life. But demiromantic seems likely since I wouldn't rule out a relationship entirely if the opportunity presented itself.
    Side note: Are demiromantic and demisexual separate? Do they usually go together? I'm still getting used to the idea of romantic and sexual orientations being different things.

    I am quite the romantic, but the feelings are certainly much deeper when I know the person well before the attraction develops. It's like I can imagine myself in a romantic relationship but not with anyone specific until I've met them and seen what kind of person they are. Also I can develop romantic feelings for people I'm not physically attracted to if we're close, so I'm lesbian (AFAB and strictly physically attracted to female bodies) but pan-romantic, which can get awkward.

  • @BGBTech
    @BGBTech 11 месяцев назад

    I got the "you could be aromantic" answer, but did not previously identify as aromantic.
    I am not opposed to finding someone, however, traditional depictions of romance do seem rather strange and unrealistic to me (and my emphasis had usually been more on trying to determine psychological compatibility; and concepts like "mutual usefulness" and similar). Interactions in these areas were often more intended to try to probe their responses than to try to win someone over.
    Some questions I was not entirely sure how to answer, like I am not exactly sure what a "crush" is exactly (so, am not sure how it relates to my experience).
    I do take an interest in people sometimes, if there seems like there might be some potential.
    Most recent examples for people I had talked to (within roughly the last 2 years):
    I had talked to one female; psychological compatibility was poor (her thinking style was more emotionally oriented), but she could drive and is self-sufficient (useful), she was not particularly attractive though (pros/cons; it seemed there was a probability she could have been "desperate" enough to consider me despite the obvious level of psychological incompatibility, however this turned out to not be the case). Nothing against her, even if the situation did not seem workable.
    I had talked some to another who seemed to potentially be similar to me in terms of psychology (as far as I can tell), and is able to talk using a similar communication style (direct and impersonal), however she has stated she is uninterested. No reason has been given beyond this. Some other factors remain unanswered (despite being able to communicate directly, she doesn't seem particularly inclined to answer questions; whereas I am more prone to "infodump" my thoughts).
    No one else has seemed like a possible match during this time-frame.
    I do identify as asexual though, and also seem to have alexithymia as well.
    I am not particularly emotional; and emotions in general don't play all that big of a role in my life (however, I do try to treat people fairly; and prefer to avoid unnecessary conflict and drama wherever possible). In my case, I don't particularly understand emotions, and most seem short-lived and fleeting. I am aware of the behaviors associated with various emotions, but often have difficulty relating to much sense of the feeling behind them (whereas things like imagining people acting to maximize self-interest is easier to reason about, and still tends to align fairly well with observed behaviors).
    Granted, it is possible that a lot of this could all be interrelated.

Idk if it's somewhat right to call myself aro, idk if calling myself that will offend anyone it's just seems easier then explain how I fit in more then one subcategory of the spectrum 🤔

    I still find it very odd that 'kissing' is considered a romantic gesture, instead of a sexual one. you aren't holding hands. you're putting your mouth on theirs. that is a very physically intimate act, and very often is the start of a sexual encounter. Does every make out session go into sex? no. but... it's usually the precursor activity. I would always put intimate kissing in the sexual category, but that's just me.
