I like the let’s play idea, as you are always generously well considered in your thoughts on any given game. While our tastes don’t always align, I always understand the pros and cons of the game as you see them, and I think a let’s play would be an interesting opportunity to hear you developing that perspective live. Great work, as always!
Right on and appreciate the feedback, Brian! I figure even if it's not perfect out of the gate or anything I could always test out ways to iteratively improve it. Thanks a bunch for the encouragement and kind words, dude :)
Everhood looks dope! Thanks for the suggestions I had no idea some of these games existed.
Right?! I don't know why I slept on it for so long but that was a mistake :p You're most welcome and glad I could show you some new stuff!
I LOVE that you mention Everhood, it's such a good game
I shouldn't have overlooked it for so long! Definitely dig what I've seen so far and love to see games that keep a love/respect of retro alive :)
@@YourPlayer2 Make sure to mention Everhood 2 when it releases! 🤩
@@cedric6941 Most definitely! :p
Halls of Torment - super addictive
Most definitely! Not sure if I love it as much as Vampire Survivors but enjoyed what I played :)
A seasonal sale video while the sale is still ongoing?! Marvelous
LoL I don't always make it but this year worked out well :p
Bring on the "Let's Play Videos" they are fun and usually that is what I'll watch while at work.
I'll see if I can give it a whirl soon! Did a test record of the Anger Foote demo the other day so might lead with that and if people keep liking them, maybe I'll do them as supplementary weekend content to the stuff that (usually) goes out on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Thanks for the feedback, wil :)
Nice pickups! The only one that's on my list is En Garde. I like the colorful aesthetic for that type of games! I haven't bought anything yet and I don't think that I will. I just have too many games to play! The only game that I really want to play is Republic of Pirates and it's not on sale as it released not too long ago! Great video and keep up the good work!
Glad you enjoyed Tokyo 42!
I’m trying to exercise some self control for once so I haven’t picked up much from the Steam sale outside of the Doom franchise. Been wanting to replay Doom 2016 and Eternal (and finally play Eternal’s DLC) so I thought “screw it” and now, for the bazillionth time, I own all the Doom games lol.
Most definitely and thanks again for the heads-up! Steal at that price.
Gah, I need to finish Eternal- I beat Doom 2016 on the Switch and it was CRAZY to me how well optimized Eternal was on the Deck by comparison! LoL I mean, there are worse games you could buy :p
@@YourPlayer2 That’s the idTech engine for ya! I played it there too a few years after I finished it on PS4 and yeah. Not perfect but super impressive and more than playable.
Crazy well optimised engine. Predictably runs great on Steamdeck (though do have to use proton 7.0-6 and switch to Vulken)
Awesome list !! I picked a few platformers too as I feel it is best played on the steam deck
Thanks a bunch, dude! I think some of the best platformers I've played lately on the Deck would be, well Mutant Mudds which is still really fun but ALSO Kaze and the Wild Masks was great!
Really enjoy your videos but I have to padlock the wallet before pressing play. I agree with the comments on Stay Out Of House, great atmosphere suspense and the filter was annoying on some parts. I’ll get back into Everhood once I finish HiFi Rush. Tokyo 42 looks interesting, might have to try it out once I find the key to the padlock!
Bwahaha I'm glad you enjoy them and sorry for whatever havoc I've wreaked on your wallet :p Right?! I have a whole bunch of games to finish in the Puppet Combo catalog but I feel like this one's going to land nearer the top of that list. Although I'm ALSO pretty close to the end of Rewind or Die so we'll see what happens. Enjoy hi-Fi rush!
For $2 I’m picking up Tokyo 42 looks like a blast and perfect for the steam deck as a grab and go game!
DEFINITELY worth the price of admission so far! Hope you enjoy it, dude :)
I think some short “Let’s Play” videos would be good. I frequent a couple channels, Factor of Gaming and Freddy’sGamingBenchmarks quite often before buying a game for the SD.
Yeah I think 30-45 minutes would probably be my ceiling. Although the more I think about the more I'm worried this is a dangerous gateway drug to live streaming again someday XD Appreciate the insights!
I went a bit wild on this sale tbh - Cocoon, Pentiment, Cultic, Crow Country, An English Haunting, FAITH, Spirits Abyss, Hotline Miami 2, Immortals : Fenyx Rising, Frostpunk, Snufkin : Melody of Moomin Valley and Nightmare Frames. And then I picked up this month's Humble Bundle too! I was playing Cocoon on Game Pass, and I know Pentiment is on there too, but there's nothing quite like having a game native on my deck (especially smaller indie style titles that are going to play amazingly well)... if anything I almost use Game Pass to try games out I later might buy on Steam.
LoL it happens but MAN you got some good stuff! A few of those I haven't heard of so I'll be looking them up shortly- An English Haunting in particular! And I feel ya- I love Game Pass don't get me wrong, but I felt a lot better having a Steam copy of it rather than knowing I ONLY have access to it because of Game Pass. Weird isn't it? But you're right, Game Pass is an excellent test bed of sorts for sampling stuff in advance of a purchase.
I just scooped up V Rising, Dead by Daylight, Shadow of War and Tomb Raider 2013 on Steam Summer Sale. Everything under $40
Congrats! I'm a big Dead by Daylight fan myself and hope you have a blast with it, carlos :D And Tomb Raider runs great on the Deck!
Great list Josh, this morning when I Logged In on Facebook the first thing I saw was a Post saying that two Uncharted Games are in Development but I don't know if they are true because there are no information about them on Google.
Appreciate it, dude! Oooooh, that's exciting. Sadly I've only beaten the original and Golden Abyss on Vita but hope to get back to 2 and beyond sometime :)
@@YourPlayer2 They are really great Games but I never played Golden Abyss. The 3rd one was the one I played 1st and it was the one that introduced me to the Series because I watched someone playing it on RUclips back in 2014 (if I remember correctly), I hope the rumors are true.
I looked up everhood on steam just to find out it’s already in my library. I don’t even remember where I got it from, probably was part of a bundle
Bwahaha I love when that happens. It always reminded me of the gamer's equivalent of Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction talking about how great it is when you get back from the bathroom at a restaurant and your food's waiting for you XD
Pseudoregalia is well worth a look, it’s a 3d Metroidvania with some nice jumping mechanics
Weirdly enough I HAVE that game but haven't fired it up yet! I was working on a video about games that look like they're from the PS1 era and I think I ended up swapping it out last second for something else. I'll take another look!
So far, this summer sale, I picked up Dystopika, Burnout Paradise remastered, Children of the Sun, Celeste, and Shantae 1/2 Genie Hero. I'm sure I'll pick up one or two more. 😂
Oh I hope you have fun with Children of the Sun! I haven't finished yet but man that game OOZES style. Hadn't heard of Dystopika but just looked it up and that looks super chill!
Tokyo 42 looks very familiar... I'm pretty sure I've played it for a bit, but it's not in my steam library. Been checking amazon gaming and epic to see if I picked it up for free there, but nope :P maybe it was in this massive bundle I bought once that had a lot of drm free directly downloadable games...
Not that I want to play it, wasn't really my thing, it was just itching my brain :D
Oh, and I'd definitely watch if you did a let's play!
I've had that same sort of 'phantom memory' about certain games. Like I could've sworn I played a fair bit of Dynamite Cop sometime back for a video but couldn't find the footage to save my life :p
Glad to hear it! Might throw out a test next week and see how it goes. right now working on June pickups that happened before/AROUND the summer sale.
Castle crashers, Deaths Door, Hero siege .79 !!!! and Celeste for $1.99
LoL funny you mention Castle Crashers- I had a buddy wanting to play it with me and told me it was on sale but turns out I forgot I already had it in my library 😂 Nice pickups, dude!
I grabbed Disco Elysium, runs great on SD and is such a great game
Nice! I need to rescue that game from my backlog and finally give it a shot. Everyone I've talked to about it seems to love it so here's hoping I can check it out sometime.
I did as well, I had got it on my ps5 a while back and didn’t enjoy sitting there at my desk playing it because it was more of a story game. For how cheap it was instantly got it to play on the deck. Played 4 hours without even realizing it in bed lol
Skul the hero slayer
I keep wanting to pull the trigger on that and then keep kicking myself that I (think) I missed it on Gamepass 😂
@YourPlayer2 I got it on sale during the steam summer sale for about $13 with the dlc. The dlc only adds some new skulls ,I think so you might be able to get it cheaper without the dlc
@@undergradchaos ah ok! I’ll look it up shortly :D
If you do decide to do "let's play" videos, make sure to check the current way The Algorithm works. iirc it's sometimes gone "oh 50% of this channel's video never get watched after the first day, lets deprioritise it". Hence some people making a second channel just for stream/letsplay stuff seperate from normal review/news content.
VERY much appreciate the heads-up! I'm not sure if I'd want to do another channel or just take the engagement/subscriber hit in the short term but do more of what I enjoy here. It's a delicate balance serving the algorithm while also trying to find where your passion overlaps :p Either way, I'm glad you cared enough to offer some constructive advice in the interest of channel health.
Can you give me a free steam deck
