    Had The Darkness 2 sat in my Steam collection for years, may have even come in a Humble Bundle years ago, but never got around to playing it (did play 1 on the 360) but will definitely check it out on the deck, I keep forgetting how good all these older games play on it!

      Dude right? Every now and then I get so caught up in all the excitement of new releases I overlook that those older titles run SO well on the Deck and love re-discovering games like this :)

    Cool video again man 😁
    I picked up castle of illusion that you featured before when humble put it on sale, got it under €3 so that was a steal. Short game but definitely enjoyable to play through so thanks for the recommendation.
    I see I actually have had the darkness II in my library since 2016 but never played it 😂
    Picked up way too many games in some bundles... Also have destroy all humans 2 waiting, some others I'm looking forward to trying are the legend of tianding, forgive me father, scorn, Patrick's parabox, the witness... A couple I already played and enjoyed a lot are the pedestrian (great little puzzler) and slaycation (fun twin stick shooter).
    Right now I just don't seem to be in the right frame of mind for new games though so I've just been playing tiny Tina's assault on dragon keep (the standalone version of the borderlands 2 dlc). I have over 800 hours in borderlands 2 and when I saw this game in my library it felt like a good excuse to revisit my favorite vaulthunters 😇 it's like comfort food...

      Appreciate it, Fin :)
      Bwahaha it's always fun to find or FINALLY fire up a game that's just been chilling in your library for a few years.
      Forgive me Father was WAY better than I was expecting based on the cover art and I loved the visual style once I got into it!
      I need to play more Tiny Tina sometime, although at present I'm bouncing between Pacific Drive, Dead by Daylight (Always, plus new survivor/killer drop), and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth! Oh man, at 800 hours it MUST be a favorite!

    I just played through Cookie Cutter last month as well. Really enjoyed my time with it. I rolled into The Knight Witch. Another Metroidvania mixed w a bullet hell. Also playing Elemental Survivors. A VS clone done in 8/16 bit JRPG. Recruit party members and visit towns for items. Really fun take on the genre

    Cookie Cutter was something I had on my list the moment I saw it in motion and I was able to get it as a part of a bundle on Fanatical just recently too. Also rather bummed it's not doing as well as it should, it really is a neat little game and the style is just, off the charts.

    I still haven't gotten my Deck yet, but Cookie Cutter has been on the top of my to buy list since I first saw a trailer ages ago. That game looks so unique and bonkers all in the best ways possible, as I watch the opening 20 mins or so, and it just made me want it even more. Glad to see the reviews have remained solid as well.

    • @YourPlayer2
      @YourPlayer2  4 месяца назад +1

      Well hopefully you get your Deck soon and Cookie Cutter's definitely a solid option for it! Bonkers is a good way to describe it and I was NOT expecting the combat to be so intricate.

    Nice pickups! I'm adding Cookie Cutter and Huntdown to my want list for sure! I've never finished FF X-2 so I will need to go back to it for sure! Now did I pickup anything lately? Well since January, yes a ton of games (well for me anyway)! 1 game on PS4 (The Legend of Nayuta), 9 games on PS5 (Crymachina, UFO Robot Grendizer, Jedi Survivor, One Piece Odyssey, Sword and Fairy Together Forever, Monochrome Mobius, Granblue Fantasy Relink, Banishers Ghosts of New Eden, Unicorn Overlord), 5 games on Switch (Baldo The Guardian Owls, Prinny Presents NIS Classics Vol 2, Shadows Over Loathing, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Process of Elimination and 5 games on Steam (Deep Rock Galactic Survivor, Last Epoch, Showgunners, Sovereign Syndicate, The Thaumaturge). And this is in less than 3 months! And we thought that we were overflowed with games in 2023 lol! Great video and keep up the good work!

      Thanks dude! I imagine if you have a fondness for retro action Huntdown will be right up your alley. As for YOUR pickups I DEFINITELY wanna give Ghosts of New Eden a shot sometime and I keep hearing great things about Unicorn Overlord! Dude that's a legitimate HAUL of games right there! 😂

    Sadly for Cookie Cutter, only the beginning part is voice acted. As soon as the areas beyond the Hidden Diner become accessible there is no more.
    However! The lead dev has gone on record stating that he'd like to substantially support the game for a long time to come once it's as technically solid as possible. And this substantial support would be by way of full voice acting, of course, but also a combo counter, new environments, weapons and enemies, story beats and more.
    How one may feel about this long term building onto a base game vs. just making a full-on sequel instead may differ from person to person (similarly to the art style), but as a pretty big fan of the game i'd be very much up for it.
    The dev recently said on Steam that a treshold of about 500 reviews is required before a start can be made on these additions and he's not quite there yet.
    Solid game in spite of some issues (a few annoying enemy variants mainly, amongst some others) and honestly, i just want *more* out of the lawless land of the Megastructure. In characters, in lore, in general worldbuilding.

    • @YourPlayer2
      @YourPlayer2  4 месяца назад

      Appreciate the insights as I'm DEFINITELY still early! Cool to hear that the developer is still looking to make improvements long-term and that sounds like a unique approach for sure :)

    Great vid - not a huge fan of metroidvanias (i.e. I just can't get into Hollow Knight...I know, something wrong with me!) although there are a few that I enjoy. Cookie Cutter is one of them and it does look great on the OLED. I loved the Darkness comics, I didn't even know that there was a video game for it, can't wait to try it out - grabbed it from Eneba for $3.!

    • @YourPlayer2

    I played a bit of The Darkness on the PS3 and found the story pretty cool, but felt that the controls didn't age well, so I gave up. But being a fan of the "guns + powers" subgenre of FPS, I picked up The Darkness II on Steam and enjoyed it quite a bit. You're right, it plays great on the Steam Deck. Weirdly enough, this was my 2022 XMAS game. :)

      It's been a long time since I played the original but maybe I'll get a chance to fire it up someday on the Xbox or emulate the PS4 version. 2's definitely hitting the right notes for me so far though and always love how well these older titles do on the Deck!

    Kinda completely forgot about Cookie Cutter ngl. I had my eye on it since it was announced but held off due to reported performance issues across all platforms. Def need to pick it up at some point but for now I’m content with playing The Saboteur which out of nowhere kinda stealth dropped on Steam a week or two ago. Super cheap, runs great and is super fun

      @@YourPlayer2 Yeah it’s my first time playing it too. It sucks that it was Pandemic’s last game, though. Voice acting aside it’s pretty well made and polished. Reminds me of Just Cause in a lot of ways too.

    Having a lot of those docked mode controller issues myself. Don't think it's the game.
