- 1st major update of CS2 featured the Kilowatt case which contained a nice collection of skins. One of these skins is the Analog Input Sawed-Off. In this video I try to recreate the skin in Blender and GIMP, and show exactly how I do it!

pretty good replica for the short time! also learned a bit about nodes so thanks alot my man :)
came here to say that your site is very useful for getting default maps for skins, thank you so much ;)
If theres one thing I have learned from submitting skins, then its that the shittiest, lowest effort skins are somehow the ones that people like
I get the frustration. You work hard on a skin only for people to come and down vote it. But keep in mind that:
1. Many downvotes are from people who are trying to eliminate competition (Possibly other creators who want their work to appear at the top of the page in the workshop)
2. People have different tastes and some of them only want/expect skins that match their taste to get approved
3. Valve doesn't exactly follow the voting system and at the end they choose what they look for in a certain skin case.
I suggest that you don't get too discouraged by the negative votes. However do listen to constructive feedback and always try to improve (You don't have to change the skin every time someone gives a suggestion, just take it into consideration)
@@viperskins I really appreciate you replying. Most youtubers would just think this is controversial and remove the comment, but you didnt. You gained more respect. Regarding the first point, I absolutely find that true, Ive thought about it myself too. Also, there are few people with lots of followers who could upload the most trash skin and still people will award. At the end of the day, it is what it is
@@viperskins what do you think a good percentage is for positive votes?
@@pokemontrainerred6829 I never remove comments! All comments are welcome and I'm always more than happy to engage in conversations such as this one, because your feelings towards how the workshop works is absolutely valid and relevant. BTW I apologize for the delay in response. I always try to comment as soon as possible but lately I was busy and not in my best shape so I kinda took a break from my channel.
And yeah you're right. I've seen skins done by famous RUclipsrs (Won't name them) where the skins were badly done and they were still bombarded by awards and had thousands of views.
Speaking of awards, they might give the impression that a skin is popular, but don't forget that people might ask their friends to give awards, so in the end the skin might do badly in votes but have lots of views and awards.
And finally, I've been making skins since 2020 (Almost 4 years now), and after all this time I've learnt to ignore the voting system to a certain degree. I do what I think might work and then people might like it or not. Almost after ever skin I create I get a comment like "Valorant ass skin" or something like that. Most people orgasm when they see Anime skins, and will downvote any skin that is not according to their taste regardless whether the skin is good or not (You might not like a certain type of art, and at the same time acknowledge that it's done well).
In the end do what you think looks good but always keep trying to improve. Check the official skins chosen by Valve and aim for that level of quality.
lol i went all out this time! I've written a long comment :D
@@pokemontrainerred6829 I don't think there's such a thing as a good percentage. Obviously the higher the better, but Valve specify in their Style Guide document that they don't really care too much for votes.
If I analyze what they say correctly, I'd say that the voting system simply brings their attention to certain skins in the workshop. I guess the way they operate is that they look at skins that are positively rated, and then they might choose that skin or maybe check other skins for that creator and possibly even choose a skin that had a lower rating.
But don't forget that the bigger factor in choosing a skin is not the votes but how relevant it is for the upcoming skin case. Let's say they're compiling a skin case that it animal themed, then they might look for skins with drawings of animals, or skins that contain fangs or claws etc.... So if you made a great skin but it's made of glass or wood or is sci-fi themed then they might not choose it because they won't see it as relevant for that case, even if it had 90% positive votes
you are genius dude, thanks for your lessons
My pleasure man! Thank you for your nice words :)
Great tutorials! Would love to see more, for example how to get translucent plastic look with objects or specific color behind the "plastic" texture.
Thank you! I will try my best to keep creating more videos. I've been busy lately but stay tuned for more videos soon 🙂
thank you! So much useful tips :)
Finnaaaalllly thankssss 🤩🤩🤩
Amazing bro😊😮
good video and tutorial
Thanks for tutorial
🎉🎉great vid
Love ittt👌👌👌
I would love a tutorial on how to create a color spectrum for an image that creates the lenticular effect ingame, also great tutorial
Thank you 😊
I will make a sticker tutorial soon
@@viperskins heck yeah keep up the good work, looking forward to it
Viper upgraded to version 4 of Blender lets goooooooo
lol yeah! The Blender team screwed me over when they decided to release version 4 just after I finished creating my CS2 skin tutorial. So now to answer any problems that Blender 4 users faced during my tutorial I got onboard with everyone else :)
you should show both the original skin & your take on it in game so we see the difference, would be cool to see how close you got. great video!
Thank you very much!
I guess that would have been a good idea, but my main focus was to show the process of the creation so that the viewers will learn from it. Next skin I recreate I will show off at the end and see how accurate I was ;)
These are so helpful. Thanks for making these. Would you know how to add transparency or translucense to a part?
My pleasure :)
Real transparency is not possible in CS
your skins deserve to get accepted, next time Viper next time for sure!
Thank you soooo much :D
Btw checked your new skin m4a4 glacier out. Looks good man. How did you achieve that transparency effect without using transmission maps? Is it by reducing roughness?
Thank you! I might make a video about the glacier skin if one day it gets accepted
@@viperskinsok great. Best of luck
@@viperskins sure all the best
Hey man, good video. Btw, from what I know, theres no way to add emission maps to CS right? So you cant make skins which emit any form of light, you can only make them reflect light bu using normal maps isnt it?
Thank you :)
And yes that is correct
Good man! Let's get the next madara skin :)
Thank you!
You mean you want me to recreate Madara's skin? That one is mostly a drawing engraved on the skin. My drawing skills are not my strong side tbh
that's really cool. I want to see how to replicate some of the work some more. I would also like to know if there will be lessons on substance painter?
Hopefully I'll do more skins in the near future.
As for Substance Painter, I might do something at some point, but personally I'm not very proficient with SP. I made a few skins end-to-end with it, but I'm more used to working in Blender. And although the drag and drop of ready textures in SP is just phenomenal and can save you hours of work, there are many aspects of Blender that I prefer over SP. Having said that, I might include it in a tutorial some time in the future
would really like to see lessons on SP. And another question, right now CS2 is using albedo and pbr texture. How will the engine realize that in some places of my skin should be bulges or hollows@@viperskins
How to destroy a Skin creator in 24:07 is the better Titel xD very nice tutorial 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you :)
I don't think I destroyed anything. Just wanted to share the process of creating skin that actually made it into the game
Hello! First of all, thanks for your content!
I have a question: Is It possible to insert a custom skin in a private server? If so, what Is the Path to follow?
Hello and thank you for your nice words!
As far as I know you can't use your custom skin outside the workshop item editor
Hey do you have a discord server? I have a couple questions. While i was making a skin for the awp the albedo isnt applying to the scope rail, barrel, tripod, mag, back and top part of the stock. Was wondering if you could help.
I still don't have a discord server but I'll be creating one some time in the near future. In the meantime you can contact me on my social media accounts (Check the About section of my channel).
As for your question, it seems like an alpha channel issue. Please watch this video, it's guaranteed to answer your questions (The link will start the video at the relevant time): ruclips.net/video/Eq-KxkTfpds/видео.html
Please make a cs2 version of how to create pattern skins
It's in the todo list.... Will try to make it soon :)
for example if I want to make a shiny material like plastic? does the roughness map make the material shiny and metallic? or just shiny? And why didn't the valve add a metal card?
If you want to achieve plastic texture in CS2 use dark values in the roughness map and make sure that the plastic areas of the weapon are NOT patina. You can use the Custom Paint Job or the gunsmith finish styles. If you use the gunsmith style then in the material mask make sure that the plastic areas are black, not white
epic
Hi! im trying to make a skin rn and want to implement a easter egg on higher float values,. but i cant figure out how. i know it has to do something with the alpha channel on the tga file, but when i draw on it, it still shows up on every wear level! i think a tutorial on this topic would helpful to alot of people :D
Can you do a tutorial on making patterns based skins?
Yes sir, it's on the TODO list!
Hello
Is it possible to use black color?
Bro, on some of the weapons like awp not all skin is painted and some of parts look like in default. How could i make them painted? Could you help with that?
You need to add an alpha mask. Watch this video and it will answer your questions: ruclips.net/video/Eq-KxkTfpds/видео.html
hello guys i have a question, my albedo is good but in the reflectivity tab i have some blue errors, is that a problem or i need just the albedo to not have blue errors?
I'm not sure what reflectivity is but I don't believe you need to worry about it. The official documentation only warns about albedo colors and specify color ranges for metallic and non-metallic textures to which we need to adhere. There's no mention of reflectivity anywhere so I think you can ignore it
please make a lesson on how to draw weapon wear and tear correctly
what do you mean?
I have a problem when baking the normal map, normaly only my edited parts should show and the rest should be flat, but nearly all default faces of the gun show as well
This should help: ruclips.net/user/shortsJpGvl0yA09o?feature=share
@@viperskins Thanks for the quick help that did it, unfortunatly that option was removed in Blender V 4.1 and higher, do you have a solution for that, rather than downgrading?
Can you make a video about cs2 pattern base skin creation, or the old video of you is still works withcs2
I will make a video about it in the near future. The old video is still valid but there has been a few updates
@@viperskins thank you so much 😊, you help me well, I improved my skills thanks to you
Hello, is there a specific thing you do to improve your baking in blender ?
I bake the same way i showed in the 3rd part of my cs2 skin tutorial.
Why do you ask? Do you feel that your baked results are not good?
@@viperskins yeah, render looks good but baking the same thing gives me poor results like the details are lost.
Do you have the denoise option enabled?
@@viperskins yeah, maybe we can work on it together?
The process of splitting weapon parts in blender seems very tedious, isn't there some site that contains ready-made models prepared for skins with all the parts split out for each skin?
I think someone did disassemble the weapons into parts and uploaded the new objs to a Google Drive. I think he made a post about it in Reddit (the csworkshop subreddit)
hello, thanks a lot for your work, about publishing how do we change the first picture that anybody see, and how to add picture in description plzzz
My pleasure ☺️
This should answer your question: ruclips.net/video/6-Nrjjy8ixY/видео.html
thank you😀@@viperskins
have you got any information about lenticular sticker ? a tutorial about that would be great@@viperskins
Hi Viper, I am making a skin for ssg 08 and now I am doing scope for it. I encountered a problem where I saw that I painted the glass of scope with metalical color. What I need to do so the glass was normal like in the game ? do I need to remove colours from it or what ? I am newbie in skin making :(
Try removing the color from the lenses of the weapon. I still haven't worked a weapon with a scope but I suppose removing the color should do the trick.
Let me know if it works
@@viperskins I removed the colour from the scope, and baked the skin, unfortunately that didn't worked and ConVar showed blue on glass, thanks for the help anyways. Also I wanted to ask, do you have your own Discord server ? I think it would be a good idea to create one because people could sent their created skin pictures and ask you or others what they did wrong
I'll check it for you tomorrow and get back to you.
As for a discord server i will be working on one in the near future
@@flixeris4971 OK.... So as promised I took a look. You have two options:
1. For the lenses you can simply assign the default color map of the SSG. You can find the default textures in my website www.viper-skins.com
2. Or you can simply assign some dark gray color (Within the acceptable color range of 55-220 for non-metallic, or 180-250 for metallic textures)
@@viperskins Thank you alot man, also I thought about creating a Discord server for you and making you the owner of it, you could change something in it and keep as your community server. (That's actually for free)
Hello, Viper, I'm currently creating a sticker, but my CSGO SDK doesnt launch, can you say something about that? I found a few discussions in steam, but there are no solve.
CSGO SDK is not relevant anymore
@@viperskins OK, thanks for answer. But if the CSGO SDK is no longer relevant, how can i inspect the sticker? I watched your video in which you replaced some files, so this is the only way I can inspect the stickers?
@@nekithrill3181 I suppose you're talking about my CSGO sticker tutorial.... Some parts of that tutorial are no longer relevant. In CS2 you check your sticker in the Workshop Item Editor. I'll be making a new tutorial about stickers soon
@@viperskins Okay, thanks, I'll wait for the video
do you record in your bathroom? why so much reverb?
Yes my bathroom is also my office!
Bro I got a question: what does "publish failure: error code 2" means and how am i able to fix it?
To me these error codes don't mean much to me. What's the rest of the error?
@@viperskins Thats all it says when I click on publish skin
@@Jimmy_Stealth1931 No idea. Does the Inspect button work for you when you inspect your skin? If so then I suggest that you restart the game and workshop editor and try again

The kilowatt case doesnt have a single good skin
Subjective statement
Yeah , Dual Berettas , Nova, and MP7 were a bit lacking compared to other in the case. The AK should have been the M4 or A1-S imo. I'd like my Gritty AK like the Cartel and the Steel Delta.
