    Question unrelated to the video. Now that the cs2 obj models are out, should we all start using those instead of the csgo ones? And do you know if you can even upload those files in the workshop.

    • @viperskins
      @viperskins  Год назад

      You can create skins using the new models and you can upload them to the workshop, since you basically need tga and vtf files for the upload. However with the current workbench of CSGO you will not be able to test your skin and take screenshots. Also you will not be able to view the skin in-game. The only images that you will be able to upload are from your 3D tool...... Unless you have access to CS2 that is!

    The system they have devised for this seems to be akin to playing a bass guitar in a band, and hearing yourself playing a bass guitar, but the end product that everyone else hears is a actually a flute.
    There has to be a better way of doing this tbh. Great video though, very clear explanation of their insane system haha!

    • @viperskins
      @viperskins  11 месяцев назад +1

      Haha good analogy! Yeah it's a crazy system, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that it took me 3 weeks of trials and reading their documentation more than 20 times to understand how patterns work, and during all that time I kept saying what you said, "there has to be a better way"!
      On the other hand, as I mentioned in the video, remember that if you only need to have 4 colors then just use pure red, green and blue as well as a transparent background and then you can set those colors in the color options of the workbench.
      And thank you for your nice words, i'm glad the explanation was clear enough :)

    • @shogunai
      @shogunai 11 месяцев назад

      @@viperskins yeah that tip was sweet. I've spent the last day or 2 just playing about with the templates, no research whatsoever. It becomes painfully obvious very quickly that something strange going on with the colours! I kinda figured out it was something like this with the boom mask... But great to have it confirmed and laid out clearly!
      It's frustrating though... If they were to make some changes to this system and make it a little more user friendly and logical, I feel like the number of people making skins would increase exponentially.
      I have to say though, I'm not one to give up easily. I fear I've found the next rabbit hole for my life to fall down lol. Cheers man, gonna get back to watching the rest of your vids 😉

    • @viperskins
      @viperskins  11 месяцев назад

      @@shogunai Don't despair. The skin making process is not easy and can take a while to get used to it. I've been doing this for 3 years now, so be patient and hopefully one day you (And I!) will get our skins accepted.
      If you need any help with any of the videos feel free to let me know. Soon I'll be making new tutorials for CS2 as well. Stay tuned :)

    But how to avoid visible seam onnthe Anodized multicolor for example? (With seamless pattern), and if seam is visible is that a problem?

    • @viperskins
      @viperskins  Год назад

      Visible seams are not a problem. It depends on what you want to achieve. There are many official pattern skins out there that use different skin styles (I even saw 1 that uses Custom Paint Job!). Many pattern skins have visible seams.
      However the best approach to avoiding seams (If you don't want seams in your skin) is to use Spray Paint or Anodized Airbrush

    should i continue making skins on the old models or wait until cs2 comes out with the new models?

    • @viperskins
      @viperskins  Год назад

      That's a tough question that I don't know the answer for. The new models are already out, but since I don't have access to CS2, and since Valve aren't telling us anything (Or at least not to everyone) about what we should do then we can't know for sure.
      Personally I decided to stop making skins until I see what's going to happen next

    • @viperskins

      With the Patina style you can add a normal map, but the normal map stays static. It does NOT change with the pattern. It stays the same way it was baked

    Will the way of crating skins in cs2 change with the new workshop tools ???? I really want to start making skins what is a good way to start?

    • @viperskins
      @viperskins  Год назад

      It's really hard for me to tell since I never got to try CS2 and don't know how the workbench looks. But if you want you can start creating the textures of your skins with the new models that came out, and when CS2 is released you can start inspecting them in the new workbench

    I got a question I've come to find quite difficult to answer. and I'm unsure if you know it but it's work asking. For example your AWP skins, same as mine. you can't texture the scope etc. and I get that is intentional but how do you override that? because many skins in the workshop and that were accepted and in game do override that. so there is a way and I'd like to do that.

    • @viperskins
      @viperskins  Год назад

      Who said you can't texture the scope of the awp?? Of course you can (And I'm pretty sure i've done it already).
      Some skin styles (Like the Patina) won't let you texture the scope, but others like the custom paint job and the gunsmith will definitely let you. In Custom Paint Job skins make sure that the scope area in the UV has a dark value in its alpha channel
