    Our 23 limited 4x4 has a tri fold cover on the bed and wimpy Michelin hwy tires with the V6. We are averaging 23.4 on the readout, city hwy mix. Tires really do make a difference. The bed cover is better than running with the tailgate down in the old days. When I put more agressive tires on my Superduty the mileage drops 1 -1 1/2 mpg. I am thinking about putting the AFE GT Momentum forced air intake on the Taco. I put one on and the Banks Pedal Monster on my Superduty and it was night and day difference. Not sure if I gained any fuel economy because now its too much fun to drive.

      I get 19+ and I live at high altitude (8k) and drive passes regularly. Try using the manual shifting, never let the transmission wonder. When getting on the HW I lock it in 3rd then shift up at about 3k rpm. As far as 26, no fking way in hell an intake will do that, I call absolute BS on that. If that's all it took to get those mpg gains toyota would've done it. Intakes on these trucks are completely pointless.

    I m getting 24MPG on my 22 taco, if I use cruise control put to 70mph! But taco speedo has 2mph error compared to GPS speed. So you are only doing actual 68mph.
    I guess you can get 35mph if you do 65mph behind a semi. Lol.
    But on an average people drive around 75 to 80mph which drops the gas mileage to 20-21 mpg.

    How is this different from K&N and S&B? I mean how is this not voiding the warranty and the others are?

    • @TrucksandWater
      @TrucksandWater  Год назад

      Well, to get the full potential of the k&n you have to get a tune on your truck. I am not sure about the s&b. The rough country doesn’t require a tune.

    • @kcd845
      @kcd845 Год назад

      The tune improves the performance of the truck regardless of the CAI brand. Tacomas have a CAI factory. Not many of these after market CAIs actually improve performance. The one I know of The Injen CAI does, it has a secondary intake above the radiator. Also, a tune does not void the warranty.

    • @chriswarren9857
      @chriswarren9857 Год назад

      @@kcd845 thanks for the reply, see the problem is i keep getting mix answers. I was told tuning will definitely void your warranty and i did read upon the magnusson act and again alot of grey areas. My truck only has 2500 miles on it but i really want to add a CAI and a dual exhaust

    • @kcd845
      @kcd845 Год назад +1

      @@chriswarren9857 I am a licensed tuner. I have tuned numerous Tacomas which are still under warranty including my 2021 Tacoma DCLB OR. I have tuned 2023 Tacomas with the same or less mileage than yours. The dealer doesn’t know and can’t tell you’ve tuned it unless you tell them. Look into a tune, you’ll be shocked at how much better your truck performs, it’s a night and day difference.
      As to a CAI, definitely get one with 2 intake draws like the Injen, there are others. Hit me up if you have any questions about tuning.

      Yes I got one actually lol Clean MAF sensor with MAF sensor cleaner (or whatever) and I heard about disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes then restarting but idk. If the filter was oiled it can gunk up the MAF sensor. Also make sure the fittings are tight. If the engine starts to stutter after flooring it just pull over, turn off vehicle, turn on and go slow; it needs a running start. If all goes to plan you'll be fine, best of luck!

      It has to do with tire size. The Trd off road comes with bigger tires then the sr5. I also use the cruise control religiously and the adaptive cruise control on the newer Tacoma helps with that also.
