This movie was sooo good. I thought the acting was cheesy at first but nah u start to understand towards the middle of the movie. Theory: This movie Trap will be based within the Unbreakable universe and/or connected to the Unbreakable storyline. In the Unbreakable Trilogy, the main character in each movie is color coded with their own specific hue. The Overseer is always signified by the color green. Mr. Glass is associated with the color purple, and Kevin/The Beast can always be seen in and around the color yellow. This is solidified in the main poster for the movie "Glass"....So if you notice this guy, this main character in this movie "Trap" is seemingly synonymous with the color red. The red bathroom stalls, the red floor in the main lobby, the red stripe in his shirt, the red apron he puts on in one scene, the red cup he holds in another scene, the red tint and red concert lights, etc. plus the single word title "Trap" in the same vein of the "Unbreakable" trilogy makes me think we might be getting a full blown franchise
Yeah after Glass, I do not want an additional installment in that franchise. I rather it be apart of another universe or just its own with some crazy twist of its own merit
Nice theory maybe we will get some Easter eggs where the overseer’s real name is referenced or seen in a police file or something and the beast might also be referenced in some capacity who knows.
I frankly don't understand how people complain/didn't like this movie. This movie was great and was needed to show the world that there are plenty of evil mothers out there who damage their children so much that they turn them into monsters. We live in a time where we are not allowed to criticise women, especially mothers so well done on Mr Shyamalan for having the courage to make this movie.
Very well said about the basis of the film, thank you! Those who complain about the film either have a prejudice against the director's often ironic style with deliberate artistic conventions and the fact that his daughter (co-creator of the idea of the film, by the way, and producer of all the songs) played in the film, or they cannot think and understand while watching why is the film shot in this style. They were expecting a detective or horror film with standard logic about a maniac trying to get out of a trap, but what they got was a deep psychological thriller about a man torn between his light side (love for his daughter) and the dark side (serial killer), whose mother not only did not help him, but when he was a small child caused damage. They are the ones who complains can't understand how Dr. Grant, who understood not only Cooper's dark side but also his light side, could make a mistake at the end of the film by allowing him another manifestation of OCD (lifting and securing a child's bike) and a manifestation of his light side (hugging daughter) as well as the convention of evoking empathy from others with Cooper's lighter side, which helps him escape for a while in the first part of the film. And from my point of view, these are just good moments in the film, deliberately made to show the use of the kindness of other people for one's own purposes.
Yes, she is. Loved songs, loved her acting. In the context of the character's situations, she played exactly as needed. Those who have preconceptions about Shyamalan and “she is his daughter” fact in their heads clearly cannot adequately perceive Trap) It would seem that it would be easier to just watch the film on its own, without preconceptions about the directors and screenwriters. But the “come on, show us what you’re going to surprise us with now” attitude will never allow these viewers to get into the style of the film)
This is M.Night master class of creating suspense. When you can show the hypnotic look of Hartnett's character looking at a photo of wrapped body parts on a playground or just the back of his head, waiting for the police to arrive in a way that is very tense.
Hartnett plays this complex, multi-layered character so brilliantly that it would be a big mistake not to make a sequel, given that Trap turned a profit after three weeks at the box office.
I'm calling it now. Josh Hartnett's character has already trapped the killer at home (seen on his phone camera). Josh Hartnett is NOT the killer, but the real killer did something personal to him and he took matters into his own hands (street justice).
@@Klausinator115 If so, then why would these cops know that this random person kidnapped someone? Once again, the cops are there for this serial criminal, not anyone who's ever committed any crime. If he's not their target, his actions from the trailer makes no sense.
This is not a secret police plan, it is a plan to leak information to all interested men who fit the profile in order to make them nervous, which is why the police act so openly outside and then inside the building.

the fact that he already clarified that Josh is the killer in the trailer, makes me think if there will be another typical M.Night Shyamalan mindblowing plot twist.
It's a sequel to The Sixth Sense. The reason the police know he is there is because the kid from that movie all grown up now works with police using the ghosts of his victims.
I've seen this theory around the internet and I'm aware of the person who started it. Has it seriously captured everyone's imaginations to the point where they can't conceptualise anything else?
I like the movie. It really shows the struggles a man goes through when trying to balance being a serial killer and being a father/ husband. It’s something not many people are aware of these days.
Many don't seem to realize that this is kind of like the lost art of the "haunted house" trope. Where the setting is in one location and you're stuck dealing with whatever is in there to get you.
It's a good movie. Josh Hartman is fantastic. I dont understand the hate. I think these critics wanted another twist and got all petty because it wasn't what they wanted it to be. Where the open mind that allowed Hitchcock to make great movies like this??
It says it’s a NEW entry into the universe and M Knight says it’s different from other stuff he’s done. Who else is excited for this movie 💯🔥🔥🔥

Maybe not excited but it looks good. Just hope that Night doesn't ruin the ending like he has before.
I was until I found out that M Night Shamalan was involved.
Bro, Josh Hartnett looks way too innocent to be a serial killer. Cany wait for his movie to come out.
That’s why he’s perfect!
Didn't all serial killer looks the same. They all calm ,charming, handsome, etc.
@@gundarvarr1024 There are definitely Bundy & some that could be considered handsome, but there are also your Ed Gein, Albert Fish, Ed Kemper , John Wayne Gacy types too 👀
Cheers 🍻
@@KittyCat22976 Kemper was honestly fairly handsome and charming. Gacy looks off I grant you but that may just be hindsight. Gein and Fish just look like normal guys.
This trailer made obvious it's him
I am 29 years old from India. I have just recently finished watching The Faculty for the first time. I was checking the cast and I saw Josh Harnett in a new movie so I downloaded this movie instantly.
did you like it?
@moniquepatricee Yes this movie was great. Can't wait for part 2.
stopped midway because i am actually excited for this and won't let the studio ruin by giving too much away. heck yeah!
Give an oscar to whomever cut this trailer! Amazing job! Now I really want to see this.
Not really..you just watched the whole movie 🥱
I haven't seen a commercial movie in forever, this trailer makes me want to see this one.
what a well edited trailer. i LOVED the sudden 2 sec audio cut towards the end
Agreed I watched the trailer a couple times now. Great editing! Its much better than the official trailer too

I think this is one of the best trailer editing I have ever seen in recent times
One of the best movies so far I’ve watched in the last few years amazing 10/10 absolutely deserved.
Same here,it was brilliant hey
The twist at the end being that the killer is actually the daughter and the dad is just trying to protect her 😂
Shoot you beat me to it. Came here to write that haha
is that true?
Very plausible! 😮🎉
Very Mr Brooks
Thats what a zillion people already wrote earlier
I've loved Josh Hartnett since The Faculty - glad to see him back.
I’m so glad JH is making movies again!!! Such an amazing actor and I couldn’t get enough of him in black mirror!!!!!
Josh Hartnett was an absolute demon in this movie lol. Definitely can’t wait to watch it again, great film!👏🏼👌🏼
Hartnett was top notch. The whole range of emotions and all the layers of character. I really wanted him not to get caught in the first half of the film, at the concert, and I really wanted him to get caught in the second half of the film) Be sure to watch it a second time. And not only to see how exactly Cooper got out of the limo unnoticed, but because of the psychological details shown in the film)
Gotta give M.Night his flowers though, still kicking the door in after all these years of hit & miss films. The true mark of his undoubted genius though is every film he works on and directs is a headline event thru anticipation before viewing and finding out if it's good or not. The only other directors that have that much clout in the bank today are cinematic titans like Quentin Tarantino, Chris Nolan and Denis Villeneuve.

That’s how you do a trailer. Absolutely fantastic
Nah, the original trailer for Alien is how you make a trailer.
The twist is that it’s actually a good M. Night Shyamalan film
His films are always a wild swing. I appreciate that.
You wrong for that lmao
No
His movies are hit or miss. Happening was abortional, Visit was good, Old was terrible, he does try new things though which I appreciate.
Dude, this movie is great. I can't wait for part 2 already.
This movie was sooo good. I thought the acting was cheesy at first but nah u start to understand towards the middle of the movie.
SPOILER kinda : I loved how we got a lil insight into how the family feels finding out he’s a killer and then the killer dealing with losing his family. It made me emotional.. most killer movies u just see the killer doing the killing n never get to know more.
Its absolute garbage oh well not everyone has amazing movie taste
Do u think he escaped after that last bit with the cuffs? I hope so..lol
"None of you seem to understand. I'm not locked in here with you. You're locked in here with ME!"
The twist is we are expecting a M. Night twist, but the twist is that there is no twist and the father is simply the killer.
That switch at 1:36 just blew me away.. Josh was just amazing in this character the small subtle little characteristics he did thru out.. I enjoyed the movie very much!! Can’t believe I was rooting for him at the end 😅
The red bathroom stalls, the red floor in the main lobby, the red stripe in his shirt, the red apron he puts on in one scene, the red cup he holds in another scene, the red tint and red concert lights, etc. plus the single word title "Trap" in the same vein of the "Unbreakable" trilogy makes me think we might be getting a full blown franchise
the classic m night finale twist... possible and I like the details
Power: unnoticeablity explains how he can do all this stuff.
Yeah after Glass, I do not want an additional installment in that franchise. I rather it be apart of another universe or just its own with some crazy twist of its own merit
Nice theory maybe we will get some Easter eggs where the overseer’s real name is referenced or seen in a police file or something and the beast might also be referenced in some capacity who knows.
except his daughter...CAN SEE HIM IN THE FULL SENSE
And from my point of view, these are just good moments in the film, deliberately made to show the use of the kindness of other people for one's own purposes.
damn spoiler alert much ?
I watched it the day it got out in theaters, Best movie ever fr...
So I want be disappointed? Is it worth it?
@@alisacollins5195 No, Its not a movie to let u down, 100% Worth it to watch
The Lady Raven in the movie and all her songs are out of this world! Brilliant loved it!!
I believe there is a fine art to making trailers. And this is one of the good ones.
The editing for this trailer is FIRE! Well Done!
I never thought that PG-13 movie about serial killer could be so awesome. Wow! Seriously, it was good, it was really, really good 👍
This is M.Night master class of creating suspense. When you can show the hypnotic look of Hartnett's character looking at a photo of wrapped body parts on a playground or just the back of his head, waiting for the police to arrive in a way that is very tense.
I respect the way he showed anger, how well thought out he was, and his manners. Hurting people who don't deserve it is inexcusable, though.
Of course it’s inexcusable, he even understands this with his light side...
It’s my first time to comment and rate a movie but this one…. IS OUT OF CONTROL !!♥️♥️♥️ we would like to see part 2
Hartnett plays this complex, multi-layered character so brilliantly that it would be a big mistake not to make a sequel, given that Trap turned a profit after three weeks at the box office.
If this wasn't an M Night Shymalan movie, I would be excited for it
dumb movie, trust me
I'm calling it now. Josh Hartnett's character has already trapped the killer at home (seen on his phone camera). Josh Hartnett is NOT the killer, but the real killer did something personal to him and he took matters into his own hands (street justice).
If that's the case then why is he concerned with getting caught. All he has to do is walk out like any other person since he's not the killer.
Perhaps he knows the police think it's him. Who knows 🤷🏼♂️. We'll find out August 2nd. This is merely speculation
@@martins.muleya5742he still has somebody locked up in a basement. That’s at least kidnapping.
NICE SHOT! maybe...
@@Klausinator115 If so, then why would these cops know that this random person kidnapped someone? Once again, the cops are there for this serial criminal, not anyone who's ever committed any crime. If he's not their target, his actions from the trailer makes no sense.
Loved it! Josh H played a great role.. I hope there is a sequel ❤️❤️
Just watched this wild ride of a movie. Twas pure insanity. Go check it out now!
Apparently the only surprise in the movie is the one that's already revealed in the trailer. I'm still hoping for a solid and entertaining thriller!
Knowing Shymalan there’s always a twist so unless this was the twist and it’s been spoiled, there must be something else
@@jareththegoblinking3191 I heard from someone that saw an early screening that there isn't another twist
The daughter is the real serial killer and he's trying to protect her
Anyone is a serial killer and he's the only victim
The trees are making him a serial killer
Why does this random guy selling snacks know about secret police plan? Shyamalan’s logic never not disappoints 👍🏻
This is not a secret police plan, it is a plan to leak information to all interested men who fit the profile in order to make them nervous, which is why the police act so openly outside and then inside the building.
because all of this is in the dad head,he only imagine the cops outside,he imagine being trap but none of it is real.... at the end he admits he likes to cross-dress and everyone is happy hugs him and they all dance to some indian music.
Some manager blag to him.
Also "hmm maybe we should put 30,000 innocent people at risk of death to catch this ONE dude"
@@sweetalker79 Who ever put together this plan doesn't seem to care about bystanders. Almost certainly the agency responsible for tracking down super power individuals at any cost.
Bro I watched the film it was so amazing I love it everyone needs to watch it the main character is so smart
0:55 Would be funny if they would market a Shyamalan film with the tag line "The Creator of: The Happening, The Last Airbender and Lady in The Water“

@@AMC5274 no it wasn’t
Man.. Shyamalan almost always comes up with unique, intriguing premises... but he also fcuks up 90% of the time during execution and especially in the climax twist. Hope he gets it right this time
I’m hoping for the same thing. My feelings exactly. This might be his next The Happening or his next The Sixth Sense.
I’ve never been to a concert where half the audience are walking around outside in the middle of it.
Is going to see this today and I cannot wait!! ❤ Josh Hartnett
this movie is definitely my favorite crime thriller, a crime movie that you won't see any blood and i consider it as masterpiece. The ending part is my favorite!
As someone who works in food, the alcohol bottles in the deep fryer is nightmare fuel
the whole movie is just so he's daughter can boost her singing carrier. there is no horror. no death, just his daughter singing. and when I mean just her singing, they play ever song of hers all the way through. it's a movie about his daughter singing.
I think the song they use in this trailer is by her too lol
Just what i was about to say, its all about her
it’s a psychological horror 💀 it’s more about the tension than actual corny generic horror stuff
thank you for saying this👏👏there’s not much hate comments about this movie but i honestly thought it was bad
@@bbearviiI just finished watching it. He’s lucky he’s handsome, cause his acting sucks
the fact that he already clarified that Josh is the killer in the trailer, makes me think if there will be another typical M.Night Shyamalan mindblowing plot twist.
The Hartenning is upon us!
It's a sequel to The Sixth Sense. The reason the police know he is there is because the kid from that movie all grown up now works with police using the ghosts of his victims.
That would be a good twist
I've seen this theory around the internet and I'm aware of the person who started it. Has it seriously captured everyone's imaginations to the point where they can't conceptualise anything else?
I heard this too will be the big twist I hope not I was really hoping Trap would be something different then what split was a secret sequel
I think the older lady in the trailer with the police is a medium that can "sense" who the killer might be.
In time for the 25th anniversary. Haley Joel Osment played a superhero in the Boys who did the same thing.
Loved the movie kept me on the edge of the seat the whole time
I like the movie. It really shows the struggles a man goes through when trying to balance being a serial killer and being a father/ husband. It’s something not many people are aware of these days.
Saw it! Loved it!
Same ikr
Many don't seem to realize that this is kind of like the lost art of the "haunted house" trope. Where the setting is in one location and you're stuck dealing with whatever is in there to get you.
It's a good movie. Josh Hartman is fantastic. I dont understand the hate. I think these critics wanted another twist and got all petty because it wasn't what they wanted it to be.
Where the open mind that allowed Hitchcock to make great movies like this??
Man Josh absolutely nailed this role…… amazing movie 🍿
It says it’s a NEW entry into the universe and M Knight says it’s different from other stuff he’s done. So I’m going in with the expectation of this being a suspenseful cat and mouse game with no twist. Hartnett loves to play fun roles like this so I think the movie will be really good. We have tix to see it opening night. 😊
The editing of this trailer is way greater than any other trailer i have seen in years, would love to know the editor & check his other work, god damn it the trailer is an invitation for the movie to live in my mind rent-free :)
