I actually really enjoyed the movie for what it was. And I have to say, I’m only 14, but I’ve seen over 300 movies, and Josh Hartnetts character and overall performance is one of my all time favorite.
bro got the Cuffs off and is like YAY im free. Bro still in the military Vehicle im sure those back doors are locked and we already saw they had guns. Like where is bro going? Even if he some how gets away everyone knows his face.
Best thriller I've seen in a long time tbh, I hope there's a sequel. Also, going from '40 days & 40 nights' being the last movie I watched with Hartnett, like 5 years ago, to this, was a trip.
his smile reminds me of warwick from graveyard shift when the fight between hall and warwick happens and warwick is somewhat feeling gay about hall strangling him
Two things are only good in this movie, and those are the soundtrack and Josh Hartnett and the fact that he is depicted as a serial killer but hasn’t killed anyone on screen is also crazy to me. The concert scenes were interesting as the tone and mood shifts a lot, but in good ways. Everything else that came after it, it got quite boring.
I can’t believe you guys took this film SERIOUSLY! As Night said, it’s funny, playful, following a serial killer with a split personality in this cat and mouse game. Hartnett said some scenes were hilarious to Night and that he himself had a lot of fun walking the tightrope between drama and comedy. The concept is PREPOSTEROUS! There are a zillion improbabilities! The dialogue has some delightful put ons. Jamie says Cooper gets a free tee shirt bcuz he has such good family values. Giving the tool back, We wouldn’t want you to cut yourself. I mean, it’s so obvious these bits are INTENTIONAL. Rachel: Sit down, put your cleaver away and let’s have the last piece of Riley’s pie. 😂 Cooper goes into King Kong mode: wild-eyed, lurching towards mommy, and SWAT tases him 4,392 times. Up he springs and gouges a guys eyes before being brought down by the 5’1” gray-haired ole lady profiler with the final nonstop tases. SWAT lets the killer with OCD pick up his son’s bike then puts him in the van, cuffed in front. REALLY? You guys didn’t think this was hysterical?! Hartnett is sooo over the top, the final scene is beautiful. The Norman Bates smile, the maniacal laugh, he killed it. And finally, Jamie in the credits. Night makes sure we know how funny the movie is. I can’t believe you guys missed the whole spoof. Night said he knows his audiences are intelligent and he never underestimates them. Apparently, a lot of people in the audience for this movie prove him wrong. Glad there are so many in the audience that got the conceit and the tone right from the trailers! 4* for sure! (Have to take away one star bcuz Saleka almost torpedoed the plot with her cringeworthy performance. Bad casting, Dad.)
People are MISSING THE FACT HE DIDNT "KILL" ANYONE ON SCREEN! THEY ALL WERE EITHER DEAD OR INJURED EVEN THE COP AT THE END SURVIVED! ITS A KILLER MOVIE WITH 0 KILLS. HE BASICALLY MADE THIS MOVIE SO HE CAN WATCH IT WITH HIS FAMILY ALONE WHATA BUMMER
It wouldn't make sense for Cooper to kill, if someone died at the concert he would put himself at a higher risk of being caught. I like to think if a sequel is made there will be much more death.
why are you yelling? Yeah I noticed. And yes it being pg13 played a role in that. But it wasn’t a movie about killing that had the killing removed. It’s a movie about him escaping. I’m not a kid so I prefer my serial killers to kill people but it’s not a fault of the movie. It’s a intentional choice
Dude has mastered the art of turning lazy writing into D-movie stuff people love. To each his own, though. If it makes people happy, it makes em' happy.
I went to see this twice when it first came out and the whole theater was laughing so hard whenever the merch guy said, “I HELPED THAT GUY, I AINT TALKING TO NOBODY AT WORK NO MORE!” This movie was fun and hilarious frrrr and Saleka (who played Lady Raven), her music in this movie was FIRE
A good twist would have been the brother saying, " they got him, but they didn't get me", which would have implied that they were partners but have a pact not to acknowledge each other in public. 😈
I thought that the twist was going to be that the daughter knew and slipped him a paperclip or something when she hugged him and we'd find out she was in on it or something like that.
There really wasn't a twist in my opinion. A better twist was that he had OCD and he was cleaning up after the wife's kills. Either way I still really enjoyed the movie for what it was And I'm all for a Josh Hartnett renaissance

I thought the twist would be it wasn't his real daughter but one of his victim's who after killing took the baby and raised her. And his wife was in on it and someone saw the teen girls vlog post about going to the concert and saw she resembled her mother and thought maybe she was the daughter that had been missing.
Really love Josh Hartnetts performance. The subtle signs he gives that he is enjoying the thrill of being chased and taking really risky decisions that could easily have him caught throughout the movie shows what kind of psychopath he is. As well as his paranoia around his own wife and his ability to manipulate and cause harm seamelessly.
So what? He's uncuffed. And? Still in an armored car. Still in a police/FBI convoy. And when they arrive at destination all those cops aren't gonna disperse and let one inexperienced rookie cop bring him from truck to cell... Something like a dozen armed mugs are gonna open that truck door and he's gonna do what?
The surprise twist here is that M. Night Shyamalan actually thought Josh Hartnett's character being revealed as a serial killer would be a surprise twist. I figured that out just by watching the trailer.
@@ZexZorNova My point is that the film was set up so that the viewers were not supposed to know he was a serial killer right off the bat. Shyamalan executed this rather poorly which unfortunately makes sense with a one-trick pony director like him.
"Give me second?" Lol cmon this is the guy who wrote The Sixth Sense. In what world would cops not immediately throw a serial killer into the car. Yeah let him fix his kids bike lol
Can anyone help us out at our house: We don't understand why Ms Night Shyamalan went into the house with him and his daughter in the final act. He made her drive him to his house and was just going to get out, leaving her completely free to call the cops who were already engaged in a man-hunt for this guy. Was it because she thought she could save the dude in the cellar? That's what she ended up doing, but it wasn't clear that was her plan. And that plan was... she contrived to steal the girl's phone so that when she offered to take a selfie with the girl, he'd lend her his phone and she'd be able to steal it and... uh... engage her fan base to identify the location of the victim etc etc? So was it a clever plan on her part or quick thinking on her part? So plotty.
I think this is the first serial killer movie with a zero body count. I don't think there's even any blood on it. That's interesting... The movie sucks, though
Honestly, I love this movie. It does take itself some liberties when it comes to its own believability by how Hartnett can get out or avoid danger, but I get what Shyamalan is trying to say with his character. A family father who tries so desperately to hide his true nature and goes to lengths that are beyond redemption. But that character is driven by pure cold and calculated determination to never get caught and even if he gets caught to still have a Plan B, C etc. just to have his own perfect little family that he never had.
Brainless people trying to point out a “logical flaw” so they feel smart Plenty of actual intelligent critiques you could make about this film but all of the ones in the comments suck. Movie was good
The ending of this didn't make sense... Here are the facts: 1. The serial killer was being escorted by 4 (count 'em) other police cars/trucks. 2. From inside the back of the truck, there's no way for the serial killer to get to the driver... (there's no window) 3. The door of the truck was locked from the outside. With all that said, the serial killer is in the back of a LOCKED police truck, being escorted by SEVERAL ARMED POLICE OFFICERS. Once he's taken to the station and they realize he's no longer cuffed, we're supposed to believe that he somehow escapes??? No, M. Night.... no...
Someone came up with the twist that his daughter was the serial killer or perhaps it would’ve made more sense that the kidnapped guy was supposed to be presented as her first human victim
The laugh of a serial killer who can’t believe HE was given the plot armor out of all the other characters.

Duh their probably gonna make a sequel
@Jerry-yr1en bro I don't think this needs one plus m night may not do one which would still make the ending pointless but if he does I hope it's good I did like this movie frfr just not the ending
It’s made to be made up to interpretation on what could happen next. Would love to see a continuation but this was no money making movie
@RetroExhibitCollective fr but I think this was still a decent movie some.stuff didn't make sense but if they make a sequel definitely will tune in Josh was good in this no doubt
You do realize shit like that has happened in real life right?!
Shyamalan is trolling us at this point.
Nepotism lol
Yup..he scaped, Trap2 is coming.
I hoped the twist was his daugther to be his sidekick-killer and it was about protecting her aswell... but yeah, would have been cool.
The plot and writing were subpar but what made the movie and kept us watching was Josh Harnett. I realized how much I have missed him and his acting 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I actually really enjoyed the movie for what it was. And I have to say, I’m only 14, but I’ve seen over 300 movies, and Josh Hartnetts character and overall performance is one of my all time favorite.
what a great movie this was... Keeping the logic aside for a second, this movie was SOO MUCH FUN
bro got the Cuffs off and is like YAY im free. Bro still in the military Vehicle im sure those back doors are locked and we already saw they had guns. Like where is bro going? Even if he some how gets away everyone knows his face.
Josh Hartnett was so attractive in this movie MY GOSH he’s so dreamy 🤩❤️
Best thriller I've seen in a long time tbh, I hope there's a sequel. Also, going from '40 days & 40 nights' being the last movie I watched with Hartnett, like 5 years ago, to this, was a trip.
his smile reminds me of warwick from graveyard shift when the fight between hall and warwick happens and warwick is somewhat feeling gay about hall strangling him
I actually liked this movie a lot .Jos Hartnett was amazing !!!
Not bad casting, just overused. Should’ve kept her as just a performer and then toss her out the movie
"I made a shit movie on purpose" holds up once, and Shyamalan has tried it on about six times now.
@@euchrideucr0whow is this a shit movie?
Jamie’s reaction was priceless
I had a blast watching this in theaters with my nephews LOL
It’s not a slasher flick lol. His crimes have been committed the movie is about him escaping the police
The movie is called trap not slaughter 🤦🏻♀️
why are you yelling? Yeah I noticed. And yes it being pg13 played a role in that. But it wasn’t a movie about killing that had the killing removed. It’s a movie about him escaping. I’m not a kid so I prefer my serial killers to kill people but it’s not a fault of the movie. It’s a intentional choice
I had to google the twist as I thought I’d missed it, just felt like a crime movie
Yeah there’s no twists in this move
I guess that the wife set him up
The twist was that the wife suspected him of being the killer and told the police he would be at the concert.
@ thanks man. It was a good movie I think I just anticipated some over the top twist like that beach movie (I forget the the name)
The twist was that his wife suspected him of being the killer and told the police he’d be there at the concert.
@TheCeraization She didn't even tell the police she left a tiny clue at a random house hoping the police would put it together. If she had told the police she might have saved one or two people
Plot armor goes hard
And I low-key don't think he was the butcher.
is there a petition to somehow make this into a tv series with 7 season
If anybody would get this backstory joke all he is needing is a jumper and a white mask and he would resemble his uncle. This is Lowkey his life after Halloween H2O LOL... Hence the dead mother lol😂😂
Sounds like a possible canon event
😂
Idc what anyone says...Josh slayed and is one sexy dad 😅
This was a very weird and uneven film but, as with every Shyamalan film, you never feel robbed.
i liked this movie i hope theres a sequel
The ending is ridiculous, he's not escaping anywhere. The vehicle will driving into a police compound. Laugh all you want, you not running away.
Don't worry, baby. The bad man won't get away. 😂😂😂
Bet
Why can't anyone make a nice simple movie anymore ? No stupid gimmick, no 180 degree plotline, just linear - beginning, middle, end ? Oh, that's right. Nobody's got a good story to tell in an age where everyone - supposedly - has a story in them. And, yet, I've seen fantastic short films on Alter and Dust. I think I'll stick to short films.
Please do, and stay over there.
Please explain how any of those terms apply to this movie? Or are you just listing things that you think sound smart?
What’s the gimmick? Whats the 180 degree plot line? Whats the problem with the story
@@3legreg Um, are you JoBlo Movie Clips ? Because I don't make comments for other commenters to comment upon. It's not your channel 3Legs. Did you have a hand in making this movie that you seem so faux outraged about my comment ? 37 people have given it a thumbs up. When I make comments on You Tube it is to agree with or congratulate people for making a great comment. There is no point in venting one's disagreement with a comment online. To each his/her own. You should do this, too, and every subscriber can keep enjoying this channel, which I'm sure, was not just set up for you to enjoy. There is no compelling reason for me to explain anything to you. It's about movies, not a presidential debate. Besides, I don't know you from a bot, so let's agree to disagree, and leave it at that.
I thought the twist would be it wasn't his real daughter but one of his victim's who after killing took the baby and raised her. And his wife was in on it and someone saw the teen girls vlog post about going to the concert and saw she resembled her mother and thought maybe she was the daughter that had been missing.
Pretty good acting by Josh Hartnett.
Lol it’s like people forgot this was a movie.
It's a movie, but painfully stupid. Movies are meant to be fiction, not faeces.
Laughing like he's going to be able to do something once they stop lmao
Literally 😂
He'll just rush them, or fight his way to the front.
Plot armor will help him
Josh Harnett and James McAvoy should team up
Still wondering what the twist is.
He got something to help him escape?
I mean yeah, and he's probably gonna escape again and create some huge new killing scheme.
I've no idea. Perhaps that his wife ranted him out? But who cares? She appeared like an hour into the movie so like it didn't have any effect on me.
now he just gotta break out the armored police truck being escorted by a convoy of police cars and not be seen 🙃
Prequel to David Dunn's Villain
So did everyone? That's why you would go see the movie? Like Mr. Brooks or Dexter.
@@ZexZorNova My point is that the film was set up so that the viewers were not supposed to know he was a serial killer right off the bat. Shyamalan executed this rather poorly which unfortunately makes sense with a one-trick pony director like him.
Bros smile gives me the vibes of, "I mean sure I'll lose everything... but then I'd have nothing to lose"
So Part 2?
please part 2!!! This movie was incredible and Josh HArtnet was perfect
Lol oh God no
Why would you put a serial killer in front arm handcuffs? Night is getting lazy
the news anchor clearly states he was arrested and mentions nothing of an escape so that twist ending was dumb af.
That happens MOMENTS after.
That happened while he was in the van nice try though
There's no twist it's just badly written
@@Ichigo187 elaborate
@3legreg too much to type Amanda the Jedi does a great review and breakdown tho on her channel please give it a look
this is how real psychos think, love that move
Ethane turned into the wolf
The end of two careers, Josh and night
M. Night mighta scorned some viewers from trusting firemen with making one as a sociopathic serial killer
I genuinely think id rather have this guy get away than let that "singer" get away with it
"Give me second?" Lol cmon this is the guy who wrote The Sixth Sense. In what world would cops not immediately throw a serial killer into the car. Yeah let him fix his kids bike lol
Hartnett was excellent
Loved the song 'Pieces' needle drop in this scene
The bike is bad, sure but the fact that they didn’t secure his chains in the van and no one rode back there with him is insane.
Guys, it’s a SATIRE on the thriller genre!
So plotty.
The twist is that he actually believes being uncuffed while still locked in the back
of a cop car is gonna do him any good at all
it may seem like his reign of terror is over, but my money is still on trap. he’s unstoppable.
I think this is the first serial killer movie with a zero body count.
I don't think there's even any blood on it. That's interesting...
The movie sucks, though
Is the police officer's eye popping out not bloody to you? Lol
@@aguy6187 watch again... still no blood and pg-13.
@@aguy6187 still no blood and death?
Honestly, I love this movie. It does take itself some liberties when it comes to its own believability by how Hartnett can get out or avoid danger, but I get what Shyamalan is trying to say with his character.
A family father who tries so desperately to hide his true nature and goes to lengths that are beyond redemption. But that character is driven by pure cold and calculated determination to never get caught and even if he gets caught to still have a Plan B, C etc. just to have his own perfect little family that he never had.
This movie is overhated, now everyone is a smartass.
Brainless people trying to point out a “logical flaw” so they feel smart
Plenty of actual intelligent critiques you could make about this film but all of the ones in the comments suck. Movie was good
The ending of this didn't make sense... Here are the facts:
1. The serial killer was being escorted by 4 (count 'em) other police cars/trucks.
2. From inside the back of the truck, there's no way for the serial killer to get to the driver... (there's no window)
