Better Torque? More HP? Cures Baldness?
Curiosity got the better of me and I decided to find out for myself if all of the claims made by CAI enthusiasts and TB spacer crowd hold any truth whatsoever.

I've always felt these were for looks and sound. I've modded intake on every vehicle I've owned. Even if no power I've been happy with the $ spent

And in the end if it makes you happy that's all that matters. I personally got real sick of the noise real fast. But hey, that's just my opinion.

When you installed yours was there a little gap between the fender and actually where the cold air intake starts. I installed mine yesterday and there's like a little gap between them

I see there's a little plastic piece on the factory that kind of goes into where the hole is in the fender are you supposed to take that part off the factory part and attach it to the AFE

I know I am late to the "party". I had a 2008 TUNDRA for 14 years and loved the truck! I wanted a new truck after so many years! I have purchased the 2022 Tacoma V6 4x4 SR5 Trail Edition. The first thing I noticed with the new truck was that I missed the V8! I drove the truck for a month and was regretting my purchase! The truck power was ANEMIC TO SAY THE LEAST. I drive back and forth from Dallas to Austin on a routine basis and I was frustrated with the CONSTANT downshifting of the transmission while trying to maintain 75-80 miles/hr (75 is the posted speed limit). Believe it or not, we have hills and valleys in Texas. And it was maddening to hear the "noise" of the transmission along with the rev from the engine. It was like the truck had a constant, irritating need to "shift-up, shift-down, shift up.."! It is insane!
As a result, I have purchased the following for my 2022 Taco 4X4:
K&N Series 77 High Flow Performance Cold-Air Intake
    FLOWMASTER FLOWFX DUAL EXHAUST SYSTEM
Pedal Commander (Set for city + 2)
The increased performance change while driving is SUBSTANTIAL! Sure, the system is loud when throttled up. But normal driving around town is fine. On trips, I can set the "Petal Commander" to fit my driving needs. It is so much more enjoyable for me now when I drive the truck.
The K&N and FLOWMASTER COMBO is undeniable when it comes to performance increase from the factory.
I am guessing a "dyno" would solve this.
I am going to purchase the spacer. MORE POWER! 😛

I needed that . 2007 Toyota Tacoma X Runner , with TRD Cold Air Intake, TRD Exhaust, Jet MAF sensor, Pedal Commander , and ACCEL Ignition Coils , with NGK Platinum Plugs . I won't know if it works or not , because I'm adding all that at once. Thanks !

Ha! With all that you'll definitely get some sort of boost. Although I would do it one at a time over the course of a few days if I were you, just in case one mod throws a code it'll be easier to troubleshoot. The intake and exhaust shouldn't, but a new MAF, the PC, or plugs possibly could. From what I've seen pedal commanders are hit or miss which is why I've never messed around with them.

@@tacosauce4x4 I was debating on whether to keep the Pedal Commander or not. It’s actually installed already. One good thing was that I still have my Cruise Control. Typically in some cases , you can lose that. But my Alarm light flashes when I cut off the Truck , before I lock it. The light on middle of dash. And upon testing the Alarm, like arming it , leaving the window down so I can reach in and unlock it , open door , no Alarm. That’s usually not what happens. So for some reason the Pedal Harness affected my Factory Alarm system. I followed instructions to the T. You are supposed to leave your Door open for 15 minutes, even until the Interior light automatically cuts off , to have No Communication with the Computer. I like the feel of the Pedal Comm so much though, that I’m gonna sacrifice that Security feature. Call me Stupid I guess.

I bet you a tune will get you power with those mods. I have a stock Taco with the Overland Tailor tune and it's awesome. Throttle lag is gone and it actually makes more low end power.

I replaced the stock muffler with an Aero straight through, plus installation of the AFE air filter and magic bullet like you did on my 2021 Tacoma TRD sport. I ran a few errands afterwards and averaged 24.3 mpg for about 45 miles. I like the throaty sound, but I don’t have a heavy foot. I did have to step on it though to hear the sound and feel the acceleration. Nice sound, and better pick up. I had put an AFE air filter assembly and an Aero muffler on a 2012 VW Golf TDI and saw mpg go from low 40’s to upper 50’s on the highway. Averaging low to mid 50’s overall. So I don’t know why your mileage is so low. Whether it is your mostly city driving or your driving habits.

Yeah I get where you're coming from but short of getting it on a dyno it's really impossible to tell. I thinkit definitely helped in the top end but sacrificed torque in the low end. So essentially canceled itself out. I'm running a stock intake with borla s type exhaust and am finally happy with both sound and response. To each their own I guess.

Does the box take up any more space than the stock air box? I ask because I have my compressor on a slee mount just aft of it.

What snorkel are you running? And how were you able to couple it with the intake? Ty for your time.

    • @tacosauce4x4
      @tacosauce4x4  Год назад +1

Dobinsons snorkel, and it's the stock coupling size so it should pair with most intakes. As long as the intake box has a stick width opening for it the gasket should pair up.
