- These Upgrades or Mods are the most debated online! If you're on the market to upgrade/modify your Charger, Challenger, R/T, Scatpack, SRT, Hellcat or Mopar make sure to check out this video. In this we will look at some of the most argued about modifications I've seen online or at least on my channel. The list includes Pedal Commander, sprint booster, roar pedal, pedal box (throttle response device), Throttle body Spacer (adds Hp & torque along with MPG?), Straight Piped Exhaust (to loud without mufflers & resonators?). Let me know what you think!

Let me know what you guys think!
I with the resonators and muffler delete can be a bit much when running no cats but to a point that's what I'm running on my 06 MagSrt8 with the exception of ARH long tubes and BBK high flow cats
So spacer yes or no?
@@omarmarroquin1445 me personally I wanted to get a red one for the aesthetics of my engine bay I never ended up getting one because I didn't want to pay over $100 for something like that not do they work I don't personally know if they work but I have seen videos or guys try to try to find truth behind certain car mods and I don't want to sound like I'm so into the mystique of it if any but I would really have to see it with my own eyes games or performance wise so at this point if I were to get a throttle body spacer at this point it would be more for aesthetic reasons but I am not paying over $100 for something like that
R/T wife is cute my dude!
-I miss cabled throttles
-spacers are good only if they include nitro ports XD
-Rebadging is acceptable as long as its not misleading
-Wraps are a personal preference. If its not your ride, its not yours to judge.
-Loud exhaust may give the best performance, but its draws unwanted attention and disturbs neighbors. Id rather lose the 15hp
@@Justtwodangmany that's pretty spot on if you've been around long enough in the car scene you just won't understand. Been thinking of converting to cable but I think I'll wait have a full plate. Caught a bad lifter right when it was starting to go so I just backed the car up and parked it and started jacking it up putting it on I guess ramps LOL so now I'm in the middle of a kind of a rebuild my heads and replacing most of the components except for valves and rocker arms everything is going to be no I think LOL aftermarket cam custom grind and I put it my intake manifold and heads I'm doing everything on myself so I'm pretty pretty busy to be thinking about converting LOL but I agree with you
The peddle commander isn’t made to increase HP it takes the “lag” out of the blade
👍
Instant respond 👍
Put PC in my DDSRT, 2 weeks ago! Amazing! Worth it!
It seems to me that if it helps with pedal response that it would help on drag strip.
So true, this is very misleading. People don't buy throttle response device for more horse power.
Imagine taking the time to watch a video about cars owned by other people just to turn around and be mad about their choices. This covid sh!t has given people way too much free time. I use these videos for ideas. The way its meant to be. Keep up the good work man.
Wild right!?! haha - yah these videos are for entertainment & ideas for your own ride.
Same here, even tho ionly have a v6, ilove watching R/T content...
Keep up the good work 💪🏾
It's been that way for years. I got into cars/modding/message boards/etc. in 2006 and every single thing he pointed out in this video was talked about then. And I was into Mustangs. Didn't matter. Even stuff not covered here hasn't changed. Bolt ons vs FI, "built" vs "bought", "budget builds" (they don't exist), rims & tires. People even argued about damn oil.
It is what it is I guess.
You forgot the most important one;
Caliper Covers!! 😂😂🤘🤘
hahaha - the list can go on for a while!
😂😂
Nothing wrong with My caliper covers! They are cosmetic like chrome delete or side marker light covers! Im sure y’all drink your Dr. Pepper with your little pinkies high in the air! 😂
Honestly your build desperately needs a big break kit man. You've got a lot of power and no stopping power I hope you invest in a Wildwood big brake kit.
It's their money. To each his own. Plus, that Deadpool is one of my favorites.
Agreed - pretty much what makes all of this fun. Different upgrades/mods etc.
Love these videos! You inspired me to start my own channel. Keep up the great work!!
Nice! It's pretty fun right? Just subbed man - hope you keep uploading & growing
I honestly really do enjoy it! I will and hopefully I can at least make half as great of content as you.
@@modlife9193 I want to start one as well. But I feel the space is over saturated. And I already did all the mods I can afford on my SRT. So idk what kind of content I would be able to make anymore
I watch & learn from your channel every upload! Love it! But I have an 07' Charger SRT8 & I have it straight piped, throttle spacer, & added emblems but didn't go too crazy with it. But my opinion it looks great, sounds great, & runs great. I feel some people does these things to the wrong car or go overboard in my opinion. If you wanna see minds, please send me your info. I want your judgment R/t Life 💯💯💯💯
Shoot me a message on IG @RTLife_397. Sounds like you have yourself a nice ride. I wouldn't worry about what others think, keep on enjoying that SRT.
You forgot oil catch cans! Lol 😁 I think Big Blue is looking awesome and you're doing a fantastic job on here with your videos! Thanks for sharing your journey!
I love my Roar Pedal and the difference it has made for my throttle response by preventing the lagging response my Challenger had before installing it👍!
There are SOOO many cars and trucks that i can appreciate the time and skill it took to make them run and look the way they did, while absolutely never wanting that for myself.
I absolutely love the barn find patina look and retro styling, but i can appreciate a wrapped/on bags vehicle while NEVER wanting one for myself.
Everyone just do you, and remember, who cares what others think if you enjoy it.
Closing on 100k. Keep it up buddy! Great content as always.
yah almost there. def a big time milestone! Thanks man
I have a pedal commander on my eclipse, it makes my slow car feel fast therefore making me happy :).
Now this is Challenger and Charger specific but I think it's funny how big of a deal everybody made over the front splitter protectors.
OMG I forgot about those hahaha! Yah for a while so many were arguing over taking them off or keeping them on
I have the same exact car brother ! @t/a plus hemi
No lies detected during this video.
hahaa thanks man
@@RTLife pedal commander was never suppose to add Hp just allow you to access your Hp quicker
Don't understand why people hate what's not theirs? Any build is the owners dream becoming their reality.
I have the Roar pedal. I love that thing. The punch it give is great. I especially love it of heavy traffic when people are trying to jump in front of me. Being able to get rid of that lag is awesome. Thanks for the video. Oh I curse you out if I were your neighbor lololololol sound and looks 👍🏾
throttle response makes a massive difference, def understand what you mean. Keep on enjoying it!
I feel like a TB spacer made a slight slight advancement. Worth the $100 I paid.. even if it’s 1hp/1tq that’s a gain
Not just that but it also give the car a better aesthetic look in the engine bay...
And it has a cool whistle on throttle and there's better throttle response 🤷 an air raid is worth 120$ imo
A excellent veiw appreciate your efforts and quality content thanks.
thanks man - def appreciate it. A little different of a topic
I had a kid tell me that I had fake badging on my car trying to tell me it was just a hellcat 😂Meanwhile looking at his car he had a hellcat badge on his it was only a six cylinder I could tell by the The front calibers 🤦♂️👍
hahaha - crazy world we're living in!
😂
Hey R/T life I was looking at your old videos about changing the bumper for circular tips and was wondering which clamps did you use to put it in and how did you put circular tips in (i have carven exhaust tips)
Love your content brother keep it up.Just remember your doing great and let the haters hate they don't have anything better to do
thanks man - def appreciate the support. Going to keep having fun & modding
Lol the fact that’s there’s people out there that hate wraps. Never even knew that was a thing. Never heard of a throttle spacer either. All in all people gotta stop being so sensitive.
It's wild! If I don't like something I'll just keep on scrolling or move along. People just want to start crap online
And at the end of the day it's my shit not yours. I'll mod it like I want and you don't have to like plus no one asked.
I see you have an oil catch can , I got a 5.7 I haven’t done the conversion to the 392 intake manifold yet but I’m wondering if you’re using a 5.7 intake manifold catch can or the 6.4 intake manifold catch can ( any help on this would be greatly appreciated ) because I don’t know if I should order the JLT 5.7 or there 6.4 variant ( it’s probably common sense but I just want to be on the safe side )
The Pedal Commander made my engine light come on. So I switched it w/ the Pedal Box. Haven't had a problem w/ it ever since.
Glad to hear some of the other options are getting better results. When pedal commander came out with the blue tooth version it began giving people issues.
Learned a lot great video
glad it was helpful in some light.
The throttle body spacer has been around forever. I "think" it was an adaption from the carburetor spacers, which actually did kind of work for air/fuel mixing. But we don't run carburetors anymore, so yes, giant paper weight. I like a loud car, truly. I wish mine was louder. I don't particularly love the raspy straight pipe. I want to see if I can find a decent glasspack. I had them on my 74 Duster. Loved that sound. Wraps are cool. Badging depends on the badge. Upbadging sucks. I think some other honorable mentions, CAI. It's just not a great mod for the money. A few hundred bucks for no HP gains worth. Just not a smart mod. The exhaust whistles to make your car "sound" like a turbo. LOL Those people.... lol.
I was going to add CAI, Shorty headers & tire letters - there are a lot of upgrades that get people arguing in the comments. Either way - all in the name of fun!
Cai are good when you add other mods like a for ex. Better manifold, better exhaust, or even a turbo.
CAI alone actually take away low end torque but add high end hp (sometimes, sometimes they do absolutly nothing).
But also the sound. I love the sound of em lmao.
To each their own.
The spacwrs did more on carbs but fuel injection still have fuel mixing with air so there is still rational for a spacer.
How can I get a front mounted camera to protect the splitter from hitting curb?
might be cheaper to put a sensor up there. Not sure how to do it though
Well. You know what they say about opinions.... When someone makes my payments or is actually my engine builder Ill give them their due attention. Keep the videos coming. My engine build should start this coming week. Something about parts availability blah blah... You know how it is.
I believe that this rivalry is pointless. It's like quarreling with someone, who likes burgers but hates sushi, while your tastes are opposite.
I see the science in a throttle response. There is a fixed time on when it goes full open, so adding something to lessen that time may “feel”
Like greater hp but it just gets to the top quicker maybe. I also have a wrap on my charger. The biggest reason is to protect the the paint. There are rock chips on the wrap that would be in my paint if it was not there.
You definitely nailed the big 5! I get a lot of the same depending on what I am reviewing as well. That's the thing with YOUR car, you can do what you want and who cares what everyone else thinks. 😂
For my '19 Scatpack Challenger, I installed a good oil catch can kit, the Hellcat airbox, air-grabber inlet screens, truck pull-straps, and changed the interior incandescent lamps to LEDs. I like the stock exhaust sound just fine and feel no need to change it. The metallic paint looks great and I have no desire to cover it up. While I think some wraps look kinda cool, whenever I see stripes, I tend to think the owner is pretending to be a race-car driver. I mean like a grown-ass adult thinks he's Speed Racer or something. Before anyone says I'm a hypocrite because hell, look what I'm driving, yeah, I know.
Sounds like a bunch of people worrying about cars they don’t own …
that's exactly what it is.
The up badging part cracks me up I can’t wait to see what people say to me because my 21 scat came new with SRT over the brembos 😂
I get tons of compliments on my 5.7 Challenger almost everyday. I have a mid muffler delete with Race Bullets and a Throttle body spacer installed lmao. In sport mode, the engine screams with that throttle body spacer. I dislike the farting noise my exhaust makes when shifting in high speeds tho. My plan in the future is to do a Borla Attak with short headers and airbag suspension.
Wraps look good if done right....also I did my wrap with the purpose to protect my paint, so when I decide to remove the wrap the paint will look brand new
That's a pretty solid idea. I was thinking of doing a clear wrap
I would love to see your mod schedule on what you have done. And if you would have changed mods or schedule. I have finally started modding my 11 Challenger R/T.
Finally a content creator that's happy to take the bad with the good. Respect.
thanks man, I appreciate it
I have a Slingshot. I just bought the Pedal Commander but I did so based on conversation with other Slingshot owners with them installed. It wasn’t very much money and it purports to increase low end torque off the line. Either from a dead stop or exiting out of a corner, that’s what I want. I’ll let you know.
Aftermarket CAIs, especially the legmaker dorks.
Cold air intakes have been shown to work, but with supporting modifications and tuning. Can’t just toss a CAI on a stock car and expect any performance gains.
@@fearnfaith6721 no they don't, the tuning and supporting mods work.
Just found out from 15' and up, the drive shaft center support bearing is non serviceable on the Charger and Challenger! So $780 for an OEM or $950 for a one piece aluminium drive shaft.......guess which one I went with!! Lol
no brainer upgrade right there
What do you mean by non-serviceable?
The center support bearing, bushing, and hanger used to be able to be replaced when they went bad without replacing the drive shaft. That changed in the 2015+ models, I can't even find a part number for the bearing anywhere! So rather than spend $770 for a new OEM 2 piece drive shaft just because a $30 bearing went bad, I spent $950 on an all aluminium one piece shaft. It's like 20lbs lighter, reducing rotational mass, and will eliminate that issue for ever.
@@theslayer10875 That's very strange. I'll see if I can find some photos to better understand it.
Edit: Ok, I see. That driveshaft can't articulate in the center? It's a rigid shaft with that support? Ugh, and you have to drop the exhaust to get to it. Man, I see why you'd opt for the one-piece.
@Cautionary Tale Harris, EXACTLY!! Thank god I just did my exhaust a few months ago and hadn't welded anything yet(I was waiting till I was totally happy with the sound) Just a couple bolts and it drops right down.
Love you videos man
Thank you - def appreciate the support
How do I get the full throttle response without a pedal commander
Some claim you can do it within the tune. I haven't experienced anything similar to a throttle response device - they give you complete control.
Kinda off topic but how much hp do you think shorty headers and a dyno tune would bring?
on a 5.7L 20-25whp range similar in torque. on 392 or hellcat it's not worth doing shorty headers
@@RTLife yeah man it's a 5.7 I'm just trying to get a little bit more power and getting those stock manifolds out of there
@@12gaugehemi46 I only have straight pipe(muffler delete),a diablo sport tuner, and cold air intake on my 2013 5.7 Turned it into a whole new animal!! Supercharger is on my wish list but $$$
@@Ladylegslover44 I hear that man I gotta mid muffler delete a cai and the diablo tune I definitely felt some gains with that as well
@Chris Swenson that's the plan bro I'm gonna go with some shorties and put her on the dyno here soon
So does the spacer throttle work 😮?
Good video! No arguments here! Feel like everything you stated is straight facts lol
Liked the video! ... I think the throttle controller mod is a loved mod... It's easy to do and does exactly what it advertises. Every video I've seen on it gets alot of love and very few that hate and those that hate are ones that have never tried it. Imho, it doesn't belong on this hate list just based on what I've encountered. Who doesn't like to get what you pay for? With this mod you definitely do! Just my 2 cents.
Im the guy that dogs on everything LOL. Good video.
What about the horsepower gain from putting brand decals on the car. Or is that another topic
Got two of these… the pedal commander and the throttle body spacer.. LOVE both. The pedal commander throttle response is insane! It’s Annoying when people talk crap about power not realizing it isn’t advertised for power, but THROTTLE RESPONSE. And the throttlebody spacer… Love that as well. Makes a very nice consistent whistle sound. And of course an added bonus to increase the length of airflow relieving pressure from the air intake manifold, and allowing better air combustion for the engine. Worth the money!
The pedal commander is a good buy if you want instant get up and go without ruining your warranty by installing a bigger throttle body. It doesn’t give your car extra hp. Your car just responds instantly. Throttle spacer does nothing and straight piping or deletes, I’ve heard mixed results. Some say there are no gains while others notice a small gain.
Got the spacer, had the peddle commander, makes a difference, wish I could have straight pipe, but when your renting, not a good idea, lol instead have Magnaflow Cats. An Flowmaster exhaust, Darn I wish, I had gone for Magnaflow Exhaust, way way better. Got short headers, guys girls don't, get the long headers. Lol if your pocket book can allow it, of course. Great Simple Sweet Video. You da man
Some people don’t realize some of these are just to improve response, not performance. Cosmetics is up to the owner, i like seeing custom raps because i can see the owner’s personality. If you want performance, go for the big three.
1.Boost
2.Displacement
3.N/A mods (CAI,Tune,Cam,gears, etc.)
I've had a few people compliment my exhaust sound on my '19 Scatpack Challenger. Psst! ...it's stock active exhaust from the factory! LOL!
@ the end of the day it is your car and as long as you are happy with your choices in mods who cares what the haters have to say... just give them another bottle of HaterADE...
I agree - your $$$ your car. it's what makes the car community fun & unique
Simple resonator delete as a small cheap mod is definitely the way to go, these hemi’s purr nicely and well full straight pipe has an acquired taste for sure I’m not knocking it at all but I do think you actually loose power doing straight pipe cause hemi’s need that back pressure
I gained HP, on Stock Tune by
cutting the Mufflers. Modern Combustion Engines do not need Back Pressure to Make power. If It was a V6 then Maybe, but a 8cyl not so much. Mufflers, and Cats, are designed to restrict Airflow..... Not Produce Pressure. The Pressure is a side effect. But that's not the intention of the design, so the Motor does not "Need" Pressure just to run, it needs AIRFLOW. That's why you gain power from Headers, which are not known to produce Pressure.
I honestly laughed at most of these. It's so petty if you are on either side for the cosmetic ones. The performance ones likely give you varying results depending on use case. Either way, with the epa cracking down on things, we really shouldn't be beating each other down over what a person did with their car. Unless they do street takeovers, then I will fight you.
perfect timing! just when I was about to purchase pedal commander for my '10 rt
Glad this was helpful in some light.
I have the Roar Pedal and love it. Plus at 149 way cheaper than the Pedal Commander.
I don't regret buying a pedal commander. I can and do actually drive, so control is very important to me.
14 300 5.7 needs the pedal commander. The throttle is so laggy and with the pc you can make it as sensitive as you want.
I been waiting for you to run someone for so long 😭
it will get there
Thought cold air intake gonna make the list lol
that would be a good one to add along with shorty headers - both spark major debate as well
@Chris Swenson I have shorty headers installed champ - along with twin-turbos on a 6.5L 397 stroker engine making 780whp on 12 lbs of boost
Love that intake tube design
thanks man - def happy with setup
I would do the pedal commander, spacer is the gain worth the price? That's the question, idk. Badges I feel like you can debadge or rebadge, for instance I have a 5.7 I'm putting on a 345 badge. I don't see the difference between an R/T scat pack and an SRT 392. Do a few mods and it's the same thing, hate me if you want. Wraps make it your own or keep it stock there shouldn't be an argument over that. And pipes mine is straight piped I love it, but I can't wait to get the xmod from magnaflow.
Why did you take your wrap off the side of the car , Did it fade out from being outside ? I like the wraps makes the cars look unique 👍
I loved the wrap as well but the widebody kit was a fresh start for the Charger. I will likely do something different down the road.
I have a procharger, pistons, headers of a jeep 2020 6.2. Fits most hemi. All new. Can't do the build anymore. It's an f1. Gonna drop it for 2500. Great deal. Have a great weekend. Sorry if this is shitty. Trying to get the word out. Located in ny long Island.
Pedal commander tore my car up!😔
yah many have reported back issues with the blue tooth version. Sorry to hear it man
@@RTLife I don’t even understand what happened everything was going fine then one day I got a check engine light & the car just started acting ridiculous!
What happened to it???
Try Sprint Booster. Zero issues
I was just thinking about ordering the Sprint booster for my 2019 charger do there work??
whats the hold up with the car?
fueling. Going to fix that this week
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks man
I got huge decals, changed badges, previous straight pipe. Some cars can pull it off. 🤷♂️ but yes, to each their own.
pretty much did all three you listed. No matter what you do, someone will pick it apart. But, your $$$ your Car
who cares what others want to do to there car love your content by the way decals wraps whatever is a way for someone to make the car there own , as for me I'm no racer in any sense I'll try anything that may provide a little performance or love the the engine keep up the good work man
To each their own... your car/truck do what makes you happy 😎
100% agree. Social media has made many people super bold with their negative feedback on other peoples ride
@@RTLife this is so true! Keep doing the vids I love this car!
You forgot to mention Big wheels and Lambo doors lol
on badging. on my 2020 Daytona 392, when i start the car the infotainment screen says SRT, when i shut the car off it says SRT, the motor says Powered by SRT, i have the SRT performance pages. the only thing missing is well the SRT badging. i am against putting an SRT badge on it, however a SRT powered or Powered by SRT badge is just facts...
spacers actually work. They help low and mid range throttle response.
The massive amount of mixed reviews are why I never gave it a shot.
@@RTLife I know what you mean. So, I just bought one and found out for myself.
You would think people would research a product before they put it on the car.
That Deadpool wrap 🤡🤡😂😂
I've got a muffler and resonator delete on my 5.7l 300c. I love how it sounds tbh but I still have my factory cats. Only thing about it I cant stand is when the MDS kicks in and shuts down 4 cylinders. The drone from that is annoying. Its quiet at highway speeds when the MDS isn't engaged and sounds amazing when I punch the throttle. But my fix for this issue will be a Diablosport tuner. Will be ordering 1 next week.
Use the slap shift and it won’t activate mds
On my Audi S6 4.0. Its twin turbo and the lag is crazy....i put a pedal commander and instantly took away the lag. Better drivinb experience...car is already 600hp so i just wanted better throttle response
3:48 Took me a little bit to realize it. You also a "Pshhh" thingy on your cold air intake too?
that's the blow off valve for the twin-turbos
I wish the chrysler forks would make a 2 door charger!
To each is own and if its your ride make it your ride
100% agree with you on that
To each his or her own but i have to admit, most of those straight pipes running around are ridiculous! Especially those damn 6cyl chargers & mustangs that wanna sound like a V8 soooo bad🤣 Long as your not waking me up with it, enjoy yourself!🤗
Me personally, I love the sound of a good torquey v8 (straight piped or not). But I do have an issue with the fact that cars and trucks have to abide by noise ordinance and motorcycles are completely exempt from it, and alot of them are just obnoxious.
None of mine and my wifes vehicles are fly-by-wire (sold my '10 dakota so we could financially afford moving to AZ from OR), so no pedal commander for me.
The only understandable one to me is the badges as far as hate for em goes..nvm the straight pipe 2. But to each is own at the end of the day
Haven’t heard an bought catback on an rt that sound better than straight pipe boi.
It's your money spend it like you want, I feel if they don't help you make the payments or insurance it shouldn't matter what they say, it's all about what you like, but no matter what you do you will never please people, and we shouldn't worry about it.
yah I've def learned that, can't make everyone happy. No matter what you do, there is always someone that will trash what you have. But like you said - it's your money, spend it & enjoy the hobby as you see fit.
Maybe it just me but I don’t feel strongly about anything movie related or theme related to wrap my car entirely in it. That’s just strange to me.
I bet your neighbors hate it when you start up. Super loud! I know my my neighbors are disturbed a bit! Hahahahaha.
I really don’t start up the RT much. When I do it’s around 10am-6pm range so no one should have an issue.
I know my neighbors hate me at 530am everyday
Another amazing video to each is own . Any and all mods are fun and if it satisfies you that's what it's all about an opinion is just an opinion and there will always be someone who gets under your skin in my opinion it's just jealously .
yup! As long as you enjoy it, doesn't matter. This is all supposed to be fun
Do to your car what makes you happy Remember your driving it for your pleasure not everyone else’s
Literally stuck a throttle body spacer on just for engine bay looks haha.
Hahahaha, the advertisement before the video was pedal commander...
What about louvers.. I'll never take mine off love the look.
I honestly never see any hate toward Louvers
My most hated mod it the upbadging. I own a 16 Challenger Scat Pack and I am proud of what I own and would never want to try and pass her off as a hellcat or Demon. Just because you don't have or can't afford the biggest or baddest trim line dosen't mean you should be fake. If it's an SXT, GT, RT or Scat Pack. Be proud of what you own. The Challenger and Charger models have the best body lines and best motor options of any of the modern muscle cars and we don't need to be fake about what we have. Let the Ford and Chevy guys do that.......
on my 2015 civic 1.8 r18 with the cvt, a throttle body spacer made a great difference at low and mid rpm!! its night and day. i coupled that with peddle commander? yah. whole new beast. so i disagree. plus, you really notice more gains on smaller engines
Sounds like stuff people do when they first get into cars
I think because the cost isn’t that high
👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks man
I have 3 of the top 5 haha 😂 and I love my ride and get compliments all the time 🔥
as long as you like it, that's all that matter. These are just 5 heavily debated upgrades or mods
There's nothing wrong with straight piping imo. Most people prefer that than spending expensive custom exhaust systems. I've seen and heard MANY straight piped Mopars and its impressed and it's more fun. It doesn't matter about what other people think. It matters if YOU are happy with it.
Well what are you going for though
Feel bad for the guy with all 5
I had basically 4 out of 5 haha
