I did the same intake last year on my 19 TRD off road. I love it. Crazy easy install and the sound alone is worth it. I put a TRD exhaust on and wont go back at all getting 1-2 MPG better on high way. LOVE LOVE LOVE the system

They even sound more impressive in real life. If there's no HP improvement, it definitely feels like there is, and that's all that really matters. 👍

It took a while to make a mount for my ARB air compressor and get it wired in, so it won’t work for me.
Why didn't you put in the ram air extension?

I bought a knn and the bolt pattern on the heat shield to the body didnt match, the screws where to small to screw in, the nipple to connect the small rubber hose was way to long, so i yank that p.o.s. out and installed a s&b and love it, wont go back to knn.

I was completely shocked! It sounded like put a muffler on the truck. I’ve never heard an intake sound like that.

Why would you block the intake off with that plug and not use the ram air section that runs to the grille?
Curious about that too cause I’d want that ran intake open. That’s the main reason I’d be going to it as well as keeping the majority of hotter air out

if you have them, you'll have to remove the passenger side hood strut. The box is too big for the strut to stay installed.

S&B just released a new version of this intake last week. The one you have is the old design from 2017. Just thought your buddy would want to know. Great vid by the way, engine bay sounds super mean now!
I wish I could do this on my 2020 but I leased it I didn’t know if I would want to keep it but I regret doing that now.
You can do anything you want to a lease. I just traded a 2017 SR5 in for a 2021 TRD Sport. They actually owed me about $1200 which I used to help get the lease payments down on the 21.
Definitely don’t just turn your lease back in if you have equity in it. You or anyone can buy out the lease at the end, so mod it up! Just don’t trash the value.

Yeah I'm pretty sure you need one. I put a lift on for 33's
285 are 33’s and yea 33’s rub if you don’t level at least
Will this limit anything if I also want to install say the magnus supercharger?
No. You would want a CAI and larger diameter exhaust if you get a supercharger. You will also need a tune thereafter.
Glad I stuck to my 15. Last year made with the 4.0L 😁
The Tacomas computer has the "learning" ability that will compensate for the increased air flow and recalibrate it to factory settings. However, the engine won't ever have to work hard for air flow as well as having colder, cleaner air. It won't increase power, but it will create longevity. It is important that you upgrade your exhaust, because the engine needs to push out air as fast as it sucks it in

Why doesn't everyone use a tune after installing the after market cold air intake? Its usually recommended so you'll get the best performance out of any after market intake.
Because people are satisfied with the sound and don’t really want to dish out the money to get tuned.

I installed the S&B about two months ago. Never have I had the check engine light on. Also upgraded the exhaust on my 3.5 2019 TRD Sport to MBRP dual system. It sounds really mean. Love it.

Hey I know you said the tires were 34’s but you showed the tire being 285 which would be 33’s right??? I’m confused I have 285’s on my offroad and thought they were 33’s
Probably just misspoke.
Toyota does not replace those filters every 5000 miles. They replace them between 20000 and 30000 miles depending how dirty it is. And no matter what Toyota care plan u have they will charge you for it.

Its loud. I run mine without the plastic top and it gets really loud at 3500rpm. I also run a mbrp exhaust and a throttle body spacer.
