I have a 21 Taco. Just put a S&B and a Carven exhaust on it. My Butt Dyno tells me that there is a definite increase in HP but not a huge increase . The biggest difference is MPG. I went from barely 19 to 21 around town and a solid 23 on the highway . I’m happy. Just ordered a 24 Taco. I will be keeping the 21 . Oh I should mention that the 21 is a Sport and the new will be a Sport fully loaded with no electric motor. Really looking forward to that new truck . Just finished the video. Absolutely do follow instructions . I am a 75 year old Vietnam Vet. It actually took me a hair over 2 hours to install the intake by myself. Im just not as fast as I used to be. Next day I took the truck to the exhaust shop and had them install the Carven.
Have been running a k&n tube and cone since I got my truck with no exhaust... lots of engine noise, so much so that you can tell when the secondary fuel system engages... very fun. Flowmaster FX is in the mail and on the way, Engine noise will still be heard over about 3.5k rpm I think. The k&n makes a lot of noise, but I like that.... and yes, the best improvement I have found for gas mileage and power is the air intake system. I have seen 22 and close to 23 mpg out in the countryside where I work, over long distances.
Sounds GOOD.
The intake your using eliminates that big resonator box that’s on the tube between the air box and the throttle body so you’re hearing a little more growl. I put a K&N intake that uses the stock air box but replaces the filter and the tube to the throttle body that also eliminates the resonator box. It was a bit louder as well. K&N dyno tested that system and it added about 10hp and 10 pound feet of torque. I did notice better throttle response at light throttle application. After that I put a TRD exhaust with a black chrome tip on the truck. It sounds and performs really nice.

I add the exhaust tips on a while ago. I notice the a humming sound when I go between 40 mph - 55 mph it subtle though I like that humming sound
I could hear a little bit more noise from the cold air intake sounds good can't wait for the exhaust video impatiently waiting 😄!!

Hey rob, got to tell you when I put the cold air intake on my tundra, I did get more noise and I believe a little bit of power also. I can't wait to install my dual exhaust to get even more rumble!

Awesome video, never been a big fan of the cold intakes but maybe you have proven me different. At least I know where to go if I decide to install one down the road. Also great tips about disconnecting the battery and following the instructions.

Rob, I put a K&N cold air intake series 77 for my Toyota Tacoma 2017 yesterday and I find it to be a little loud in the cabin. I still have the original factory intake in case I change my mind but it looks like I’m leaning towards changing out again. Is there any way I can reduce the “growl” in the cabin?

Honestly Rob, I wanted more horsepower. I was tired of the slow moving factory Tacoma. Would installing and exhaust system maybe reduce some of the noice?
I’d just go back to stock. If anything, changing the exhaust will be louder.

Yeah Rob maybe the exhaust system will help, let the whole thing breathe a bit better, quite honestly I wouldn’t want to hear any intake noise that makes you step on more, and in essence use more ridiculously prized fuel!! I know it’s for your channel that’s great hopefully it makes it get a little more mileage👍!!

My thought after watching the whole video, if that’s the way six cylinders sound (it definitely sounds different with the cold air and take) I think I’ll be inclined to buy electric for my next vehicle if v8 aren’t around then lol

The exhaust before and after would be very interesting, if your cold air intake gives you more engine noise chances are your new exhaust is gonna drown that out

I think you may actually be deaf. I have heard several of the intakes you have tried in person. I have also driven the vehicle they were installed on. This one is the most significant increase I have ever experienced. I am still not changing because I can do the exact same with a factory intake.
