- In this video I share a very very sad story about a recent Dodge Challenger Scat Pack last call buyers experience with a serious potential manufacturer defect that will cost $30,000 to fix.

I just became 1 out of 500 owners of a scat pack shakedown in black! I got it for 5k under msrp. Prices are coming down and it looks like the markups are over.
I took your advice and waited and you saved me thousands! Thank you so much for great advice. The dealerships are hurting. Maybe a good time to buy.
Congrats. Enjoy👍.
Which shakedown is automatic? Yours or the smoke show?
Awesome, enjoy!
I got the manual in the black widebody shakedown. Like ocm I love my manuals. More fun and control of the car.
Glad you spoke on this. This is a crazy situation. I hope dodge makes it right
Replace the damn car, non negotiable! Dodge & the dealer shouldn’t even spend a millisecond debating this ! Utterly ridiculous.
He needs to get a chevy its his transmission takes a crap
Thanks for explaining your experience with defects while still showing respect for the line workers at Brampton Assembly. There were definitely cases of management rushing cars out for the last year of production
If the production line workers are also responsible then who is.
So far my WB Scat has been flawless. I only have 2k on it but I have been impressed on the build quality.
Be patient they’ll soon pop up. Not hating but the interior most likely will fall apart if you keep it long enough. That’s why I can’t understand why people are asking 300k for a demon 170. I get that the drivetrain is great but the rest of the car is mediocre based on my experience as a mechanic
@@Richard-xv7yfok. That's why I got the warranty for tires, paint job, and interior.
I have a family member that went through issues with getting their 2023 charger getting fixed under warranty. Car had only 3k miles on it. They are older so the car was babied. It was such a hassle they traded it in for another brand. Stellantis is garbage and they need to wake up.
The laugh when you said you love your car ..GOLD 🥇
Dodge and quality or longevity have never been in the same sentence. You made the right choice.
My 2022 Charger Hellcat has 15K miles on it now, with no issues. Fingers crossed.
i was so close to buying a used gallardo and i lost it all. you inspire me
Lemon law factory buy back no question 😮😮😮
I bought my WBSP after seeing the build date sticker on the door jam saying it was built 11/19. Right before Covid turned the world upside down. Quality has been terrible ever since. Management doesn't care, people are burnt out & quality is lost in the brain fog. I signed for that pre-covid car & its been a great car!
March of last year I bought a 22 Challenger scat pack shaker, 7 months later and 5 repair later the mechanic at the dealership figured out the car had been wrecked and repaired between the factory and the dealership. After 2 weeks of negotiation with the general manager he returned all of my money that I spent on the 22 so I can buy my 23 shakedown. He also paid the sales tax difference since the shakedown was another 10 grand. So at least I do have a story of a dealership doing the right thing. Although my exhaust does have a rattle between 1900 and 21 RPM but I'm taking him to get looked at next week
Great video and I agree I have a 2020 392 challenger and had no mechanical issues so far. And with almost 49,000 miles.
I COMPLETELY agree with you OCM!!!
Thank You for standing up for the public!
You are awesome!
Luv ya Brother!
OC,M. Not to mention how many were like that before and after that one.
I have said this before: in the '60s and 70's for 6 years I was a Dodge rep. I sold cars to the Dodge dealers. I just wonder what the future is for Dodge cars and trucks? Today, I'm an old guy. I drive a cheap 2017 Toyota Corolla because it is dependable. I paid about $13,800.00 around 2019 and bought it used from Hertz rent a car. It will probably run 200,000 miles if I just change the oil and filter, etc. I don't understand the value of fighting over the fact that your Dodge car is broke down maybe a lot and costs a lot of money to fix. I took the money I would of spent on Dodge car repairs ( I drove a R4 from the wrecking yard for about 140,000 miles most of the time). I invested the money I saved into my retirement fund. Today I get the money back in an annuity. I did not have to use the money for car repairs! You might want to do this if you are saving for your retirement. Good Luck! Quit fighting over stuff that breaks down and costs thousands to keep running!
Brad, that scraping noise you are referring to happened on my 2019 scat. It’s the when the rubber around the drive shaft wears down so it’s just metal on metal. There is videos of it all over RUclips. I guess our cars are notorious for this so people get the one piece driveshaft.
That Lambo is nice, OCM. No way to hate it.😎⚓️
Well put!!! I pray my Swinger is ok now 😮
I got a 2022 and I always wonder what recalls are gonna come up lol
I bought my wife a 2014 Durango RT, had to lemon law it in less than 4 months. Then got another 2014 Durango RT and it started having all types of issues before it was out of warranty so I traded it in on a 2016 Durango RT. The 2016 also started having all types of problems and had to get rid of it. 3 Durango RT's and all were junk. My wife still loves the Durango RT's and I have to change her Hyundai Palisade soon, she was asking about another Durango RT and I said NO WAY!!!
Let's be totally honest, dodge hasn't had a reputation for quality since the early 70s
Lol well actually they didn’t have any quality back then either. There was a reason why they were the least popular among the big three and the fact that nobody wanted anything to do with chargers, challengers, and cudas up until the late 90’s. Then people finally began respecting for what they were, despite their flaws. Chrysler was notorious for factory freaks due to their inconsistent quality control. You could have two identical 340ci cars built around the same time and one would be a dog on the street and the other would be an absolute monster, all due to manufacturing inconsistencies.
Yeah no the Viper was hands down the most reliable super car in the world. My Uncle has a Corvette Viper Lambo Diablo and Ford GT40 Everytime he took the ford out it broke down the Corvette if he ran it hard it was in the shop every couple years The Lambo was as bad as the Ford The Viper no issues and it's now 10 years old its the only one he kept.
Well they don’t even own themselves to begin with lol
So true about CDJR growing up in the early 80’s. Poor quality, Breakdowns, rollovers, fires E.T.C. So I stayed away from CDJR for over 30 years until like 2015- present. I now have two CDJR’s with only one small steering wheel issue. (Non safety related). SMH on how could a brand like CDJR discontinue the OEM steering wheel two months after taking delivery of a brand new vehicle😵💫. It’s Not noticeable to the naked eye but I know it’s there and I see it every time I get in the vehicle. Otherwise I love driving my Mopars.
What is the steering wheel issue?
The exterior color combo on the Lamborghini is exquisite
Nothing beats a corvette. Any corvette!
Too small😂
Living and working in auto industry parts and assembly it’s known to avoid 1st and last year of all manufacturing models. 1st year has higher assembly defects as assemblers and line systems work out kinks and last year has higher parts failures as parts tolerances are widened to reduce parts rejects as parts stream dries up and stops.
Same as any other industry when a plant is closing and the product is being stopped. Have a 22 RE with fingers crossed. No desire for a Last Call with a higher price and more defects.
@@jgmullins1 precisely and good on you for recognizing and knowing that because so few folks have any idea about manufacturing nowadays makes me feel like “the old man” spinning tales of old! 👴🏻😆 You’ll be fine with a ‘22 as they’d still be holding the line on parts quality inspections and holding suppliers’ feet to the fire for rejects…it’s only the final year when “heads start turning the other way” when tolerances aren’t quite up to snuff and suppliers are rummaging the scrap bins to meet shipments. Congrats on having your RE…keep enjoying your muscle 👍💪
It’s not a bond weld failure. It’s a loose body panel that is rubbing up against another body panel. It’s not necessarily a safety issue. Mopar Warranty should cover the repair fully. But the owner of that vehicle said it will go on his carfax as a “accident” but it will be listed as warranty work. That’s it. There’s a resolution already on the table. Mopar Warranty should 100% cover everything for him. I think they repair until they’re ready to replace. Which is usually their last resort.
I understood it to be an adhesive joint that's not cosmetic, it's an integral part of the uni-body and will affect crumple zones during an impact. If crash tested now apparently it will not be the same as if the proper adhesive was there making the connection
@@mitchharper_rule62 It is structural. Theres more coming out about this story, but its not good. YET.
Dodge is hoping we remain silent, but we wont.
You have a point about Mopar quality in the 70's! I had a 1973 Plymouth Duster 340! Great car indeed!
My 2022 Scat has a leather seat trim issue and low powered windshield wiper spray. Not to mention when you put a OBD2 monitor both the front turn signals have a PCM freak and malfunction
Your Chanel motivated me to get a scat pack charger, bought a Daytona new, had a clunk , at dealer 7 weeks , now doing corporate buyback. Interior build quality poor, breaks my heart, wanted to love this car. You can see where parts wear fast inside or aren’t aligned correctly. Very frustrating.
Your Lamborghini is just amazing! Love it.
Do you know the build date of your swinger? Before or after the strike can be a determining factor. My shamedown was in July last year so before the strike.
Finally got rid of my 2019 hellcat charger. Thing was falling apart. Aside from the beautiful supercharger sound that car was trash
Awe man sorry to hear that! What did you get to replace it?
Yeah OC no doubt your Lambo is absolutely beautiful. Must be such a treat being able to choose between the scat or a bull lol love your videos man cheers
Brad love the channel!! I haven’t seen the demon 170 lately! Not sure if I missed something, did you sell it?? Or just haven’t made any videos with it lately?
lol. I forgot he even had it 😳.
That wind is awesome!!!
The only problem I have with my '21 Challenger SS is air coming through the door panel. If I have the heat or a/c on and shut my door, air comes up through the door panel where the glass is until I shut the door and the window goes back up.
My 2018 R/T does the same thing with the door handle malfunction on the driver side
I have a rattle on my 2023 Charger Hellcat Red Eye with 3,500 miles that you hear when taking off from a stop and it starts at exactly 17 MPH and stops at 20 MPH and it’s driving me nuts. Is that what you were experiencing? A loose starter bolt? I may have the same issue!
Is there a mic you can buy for the wind noise?
Hi would this go under the lemon law or would this be a recall and how did this get past the final inspection
So if you’re in the market for a low mileage (3k to 5k) Hellcat, what years would you look for?
The sound you are describing sounds like the carrier bearing on the driveshaft is going bad. My 22 CHCWB made that same sound at 300 miles and the dealer replaced it no problem.
I have a 2023 Challenger Scatpack that has a warped bowing kick panel. The car only has 17 miles on the odometer. I contacted the dealership. They want me to take the car in so they can take pictures of it and will hopefully get it replaced. I’m noticing some fit and finish issues on the body/hood as well. Hopefully, this is not a sign of issues to come
What happened to your Demon 170 ?
OC going Rouge on manufacturer repair antics!
Customer service is dead nowadays....been traded for the old run around!
I've got a 19 challenger 392 T/A sublime only issues I've had is around 65k miles my driver side window switch broke.
Knockout 360 also had some issues with his 2023 Dodge Charger Hellcat widebody. I was going to get a 2023 model also, but decided to get a 2022 Dodge Challenger Hellcat widebody instead. And after hearing about all of the issues popping-up with the 2023 Dodge Chargers and Challengers, I am glad I did that.
My 21 challenger does that door thing too. Sometimes doesn’t let me in, sometimes doesn’t let me lock it getting out
OC Motivator Great Video I think it's absolutey insane that a Dodge Dealership sold a Scatpack with that Crazy factory defect and I definitely agree that Dodge should replace it free of charge
Is a new Challenger still a buy?
Lambo makes me want to just cry. And i am in love With Your Swinger ❤
I had to get my key fob tested to match my car to fix the door handle problem sometimes the fob glitch’s and will not let you in after I got it tested worked great tell the battery died and I had to do it again
That color is majestic
I had a 2021 scat pack that the master cylinder shaft for the clutch would break in half back to back actually had to go for the lemon law just because I only had it 3 months out of the year I owned it also had the scat pack letters on the spoiler falling off in the hot sun the uconnect would work intermittent but somehow always worked when I took it to the dealer but my 2022 seems extremely well built compared to it and my dad has and early last call delivered in March 2023 and it's also been great just seems real hit or miss
I purchased a 2023 Scat Pack Shakedown Edition. After three months of ownership and 1,900 miles, the transmission started slipping. Took it to the dealership and found the valve body defective . Three weeks later, clunking noise when putting in gear. Dealer found cracked transmission mount, dealership replaced. Hopefully, no more problems.
Seen and heard the same things, think about it, the factory worker knows they are going to be out of a job are you going to be motivated to do a good job. Post Covid cars seem, no matter who the MFD are not as good.
So, do you still have your Demon 170? You haven't mentioned it or shown it in a while, and said you have to split your love between your "2 cars". Just wondering...🤔
Yes nice Lamborghini I have a shaker widebody same color love my ride to you love once injoy your ride thanks for all you do racer X I fallow to and a few other it help me chose my car.
i love the zombies example for your broken car door lol
I can't even imagine what goes through the mind of someone who paid a ridiculous markup for one of these cars and has also had to deal with several defects. That's getting hit from both sides and it's not a good feeling..
Toyota Camry don’t seem so bad after all😂
@@Damedogg246 well they are more reliable because it's a Toyota but still the fact that a limited edition car would have these kinds of defects is going to definitely ensure that the values won't hold up like what they originally were thought to be..
I have a Last call Jailbreak Hellcat and it has all these problems. Dealer isn’t helping.
-biggest problem I have now, is every other time I start the car, the starter stays engaged for 10 to 15 seconds after engine has started. Dealerships can’t figure it out. There’s about 10 other guys on this forum dealing with it and their dealers have no fix either.
-The imperfections in the leather seats
-Oil lines were leaking at 390 miles and needed to be replaced.
-coolant smell that can’t be traced
-paint not finished where front bumper meets grill
-hood vents warped
weird corrosion underneath hood
-exhaust leak where manifold meets cylinder heads
Makes me very wary about going to try and get a last call car.
Looks...Lamborghini and Ferrari.
When it comes to maintenance.
An American made front engine v8 rear drive platform .
That is terrible for sure, I have a 21 392 shaker as well and have to say I have had no issues with it…although I do have to say the door handle on mine does give me some trouble once in a while, but that’s about it. I know it’s not a last call, but I find that the build quality on it has been pretty good….
How much does that Lambo weigh? It looks really cool, does it handle really well?
I have been a Mopar lover for over 50 years. My first new car was a 1971 Plymouth Cuda, 383 Super Comando and a 4 speed. Never had a problem with that car that I didn't create. The last several years I've been into Jeep Grand Cherokees. The ZJ's and WJ's, 1993 through 2004 were great. I bought a 2016 Grand Cherokee with the Ecodiesel. Big mistake! Nothing was covered under warranty. 59,000 miles the crankshaft tone ring went out. Not covered under warranty. $1500 and a month and a half. 4 recalls and no parts available to fix the last one. They've lost me as a loyal customer. I'll never buy another one. It's not just Mopar. All the brands are suffering.
A Brampton shout out YAY. Admire your love of Dodge even though we know that quality is suspect for Stellantis as a whole.
That's because they are now making or buying 1/3 of their parts from China.
I have owned a 09 srt 8 and a 21 scat pack that I bought new and thank god absolutely no problem
I mean If they agreed to pay diminished value etc then maybe. But putting that on the carfax destroys the value
My 2016 HC has been great. I love the Lambo; I always wanted one.
What happened to the Demon??😮
Absolutely, i imagine they wanted to make enough for 24 also.
I had a situation where mine broke down in Angeles crest with 190 miles and needed a new engine. Long story short I got a new replacement
Warranty and Lemon law would cover something like this it can't be fixed correctly. If it's repaired correctly, it won't hurt the value.
I didn’t know Cali had wind!
Rod bearing went in my 23 WB charger hellcat at 3600 miles. Dodge denied my warranty because my cats are deleted even though it had nothing to due with the malfunction.
I would be SO pissed. My 2022 had a few minor issues that the dealer refused to fix, so I just fixed them myself. Otherwise has been a great car. Something like this I would sue if they didn't step up and they would lose.
My 2022 challenger GT runs great no problems ! These new vehicles got change that oil before they tell too.
I was considering a Last Call Redeye but the price is too high and the quality is to low so….
Get a nice pre owned 20-22. Prices have dropped dramically and the bang for the buck far exceeds the Last Call hype and price gouging.
Robotics in Chrysler plants aren't as involved as you might believe. They use robotics for spot welding, painting mainly. As for the rest of the process of assembly. It is by human hands using power tools and hand tools.
Defects maybe due too Brampton assembly plant becoming idle for a few years
How much HP does that Lambo put out sir
It looks fast and beautiful
Great content as well
Keep pushing
610Hp AWD and only 3100LBS. It handles like a dream too while ripping you back in the seats while listening to an insane naturally aspirated V10 right behind your head. Crazy car.
Owner of a 2021 challenger widebody shaker manual transmission purchase for 58.000. after 5 thousand miles had to replace my tires. Due to the fact that my toe was off - degrees on both sides in front $1500 had to pay out off packet 500 miles later had to replace front rotors and pads because the OEM brakes had a factory defect causing my rotors to warp up $4.500 also out of packet about 20 thousand miles later I started hearing noise after I released my clutch dealer can't duplicate the problem got worse by the day when 3 different dealers and still the same outcome now Im at 45 thousand miles out of warranty repair cost almost $5.000 hydraulic release bearing clutch is fine bottom line dodge won't back up there vehicles if manufacturer error are present horrible .
My 2023 Hellcat Challenger has been having starting problems, and I'm not sure what it is. I'm bringing it in on Monday it's kind of acting the same way as yours did. I hope it's an easy fix. The car doesn't even have 5,000 miles on it yet. I will be driving around with my jumpbox. I have a 21 Jeep Gladiator It has less than 10,000 miles, And the front end would shake like crazy If you hit a small bump above 65 miles an hour. They had to replace most of the front end. That's just crazy. The service manager told me not buy a new Jeep to buy a Toyota Truck next time. He's been working for Jeep for 34 years, And he said he will never buy a new 1 after 2019, And Jeep is all he's ever owned since he was 19 and started working for Jeep. And that was coming from the service manager. MOPAR is just making me sad. And at this point I hate Stalantis.
I’m having issues as well what is yours doing exactly ?
My 2023 hellcat challenger has starting issues also. If your on the Hellcat forums there’s a lot of us having weird starting issues.
I don’t hate lambos I hate the price and some of the people who drive them
When you quit driving and pay someone to drive for you it puts cars in a whole different perspective they're fun to look at but I'm glad I don't have one I didn't always have the resources I got now but I do now I'll never sit behind the wheel again
Stellantis/Dodge should refund the full amount to the customer. Once it was determined what was wrong and the what it would take to fix/repair it, Dodge should refund or replace the car, or upgrade the car. If it is a verified manufacturer defect, it is their responsibility to repair or replace the problem. Time for Dodge to step up.
Last Call defects could be a result of the auto worker strike in 2023 and either being short on employees or inexperienced employees, be pushed by management to produce the cars faster to meet production timelines or a combination.
Dealers have screwed over too many customers because of greed, Dodge needs to bend over backwards to rectify this manufacturing problem. Dodge should also try to find the cars built during this same time and have them inspected also.
As a professional diminished value appraiser, Factoring in cost of repair, lost value, salvage value. Vehicle is a total loss.
There are probably meff pipes behind the body panels of each dodge.
Hope you bought the best warranty on this product ,one expensive repair will pay for it . All brands are catalog cars all the manufactures buy their parts from the same suppliers .
I’m a new follower. Love your perspectives. Agree 100%. I’m a huge Mopar or no car guy. Here is my response to all this EV nonsense. Should I put a 426 Hemi or Aluminum 440 in my 1965 Dodge Dart 2 door post car? Which would you choose? An aluminum 440 supposedly weighs less than the 225 slant six. I’m thinking this is a better option. For all the purest out there, this Arizona rust free car was hit in its past. Sold to me in 2007 as accident free on internet. My bad. K member shows signs of straightening and the welds on inner fenders give it away. Body is pristine though. Only missed sign by me was antennae mounted in cowl and not fender. Oh well. 440 or 426? No EV for me.
Better feel like a Lambo day if there is a zombie apocalypse lmao Green Humper gonna leave you jiggling your car door
I have driven the piss out of my 2014 5.7 Durango AWD BEST Truck ive ever had . 140k miles still running original brake pads!!
This is happening to me right now with A Chevy dealership in St.Pete fl. They had me get something fixed they should’ve fixed before they sold it. We see it when they deliver the car. Sent me to another dealer to get it fixed under warranty. They began to fix it and the top kept braking. They found it was in an accident and we weren’t told. Wanted me to pay or take it back to them in St. Pete to fix. After they committed serious fraud. I had to call the DM of the dealership, Attorney General, DMV ad FTC to make them fix it. DMV has the case on the fraud. All without our knowledge.
Driveshaft carrier problably shot itself, OC dodge replaced it but would not allow me upgrading to an aftermarket drivesgaft to avoid it in the future, cool car, not worth keeping. First and last dodge ill ever buy.
How many cars went down the assembly line with the same issue ? My guess hundreds, dodge should check all cars now before a possible lawsuit.
Mopar die hards should be the last people to hate on another brand when their own brand proved to be massively unloyal in every way imaginable. It’s ok to appreciate all life has to offer not just parts of it. Mopar or no car… well folks they left us with no car.
The major manufacturers defective issues need to be fixed or major lawsuit
If anything screams for a "Lemon Law" return to manufacturer; they will probably send it to Copart with a branded title.
