  • In this video I share a recorded call to a Dodge dealership inquiring on a 2023 Dodge Charger King Daytona they had listed at a completely different price than they were actually asking. How is this ok?

Same vechile, now they are offering 8k off list ONLY if you finance. Its just a gd game and they blame stelantis for screwing them while they been charging over list last 4 yrs. She knew her lines and kept ignoring g his questions. I've gone into Kunes ,ect with 100k in cash and if you don't finance you pay list. Its a shell game. It's funny how if you "incorporate" it magically shields you from police and you can get away with ripping people off.
I worked for a private parking lot management company who's bread and butter was tickets.
Well, as it turned out many of these lots didn't meet standards such as proper drainage, paving etc. They had no license to operate... But they sure as hell kept ticketing people who were late or not paid.
Obviously, these tickets were unenforcible legally but they did it anyways.
Ironically, the company president happened to be treasurer of the local BBB!
I got canned eventually but when I read the local BBB got a new boss, I hand wrote a letter clearly detailing the fact that this company was knowingly issuing worthless tickets to unsuspecting drivers, effectively fraud.
I don't know if it was me but he was no longer treasurer of the BBB the following year.

We never talked to the customer heck we didn't even know who they were or for what. Your best bet is your State AG office, they will go after these places and fine them.

Even with no ability to penalize the business, it still is a negative comment on their record. Now, a Google review is 10x worse, and means a lot more. Business do NOT want any negative Google reviews. But the customer has to use this 'tool' professionally, meaning post pictures of the ad, the car, the dealership, documentation is even better, much like you did here. This goes on all the time...Not so much bidding on a car, but you walk in, and the price you see advertised has nothing to do with reality. It's happened to my dad, and they tried that crap with my son, who they thought was young and easy to mess with. He was older than he looked, married, and not to be messed with. My son held his ground, argued until they were ready to off themselves, and after 45 minutes of back and forth bullsh*t, he basically got the price that was advertised when he told them he would go to a different dealership and see what they could do for him. It's worse than ever now.

This is so strange. They have the car on the lot for like 275 days (showing it's not in high demand or it would have already sold), and when someone at least claims they will pay the listed price they say "no, we're taking bids." Crazy!
You'd think they'd be happy to sell the car after it sitting this long! I like the manager's thing about now saying it's going to be "market based price". Well, if even the price they have it at it has not sold, then it's already above market price! Again, to me this is crazy! $100,000 adjustment, they think it's going to sell for $198,000 when it didn't sell already for like $101,000? Reminds me of all those areas in the past that had vacant apartments and buildings, saying "Well, they are at market price" -- well, if they are sitting empty, they are not.
I do find this rather dishonest, but also surprising that they bothered with it since it's not going to help it sell.

I've been through this with Ford Stealerships in my area too. Just so stupid. Bronco's at $20K over sticker, Shelby GT 500's $30 or $50K over sticker...it's just stupid. It has been going on for decades too. In 2010, I found the Shelby GT500 with the exact color and options I wanted, at my local dealership. Advertised price was MSRP. Went to the dealership and was told it was 10K over. Was just pissed off. Searched the internet and found the EXACT same car in GA with a 2K discount. Drove 3 hours and picked it up. Next morning I drove it to the stealing dealership and parked it right in front of the front doors. Walked in and asked to speak to the manager. Walked him out and told him to KMA cause I will NEVER buy another car from your stealership (had purchased 4 from them in the past). Put that on their website and got a lot of thumbs up. Screw these stealing POS.

I just bought a 23 escape, ad stated dealer discounts and sale price then below stated rebates. When I told them I was interested in car they said sale price was with all rebates included.
Now for one, you can NOT use ALL rebates.

I used to work for a Nissan dealership in NY as a sales person, and I left because management was dirty dealing to everyone. They tried to screw every customer. I set up every customer with Nissan North America's contact information if there was an issue. I offered a free lawyer consultation for when the contacts need to be signed, so if there was any questions, those customers had legal representation, there with them. When my customers came to pick up their new cars, we together went through a checklist to make sure everything was correct, included any accessories and features they ordered with their vehicle. When I left Nissan, I went to Porsche, and just about every prior Nissan customer I had are now Porsche owners. I try my very best to be honest and clear with all my customers. And I had found a Porsche dealership in Riverhead NY at the time that that believed in the same thing. That's rare.

Unfortunately that's the car industry. during the height of Covid a local "big 3" dealer had a vehicle online, I worked with the internet sales team and basically agreed upon a price and made an appointment to come and look at it. Made arrangements for child care and time to meet, and while I was in route, they told me via email that they were pulling the truck around to get it all cleaned up and it would be ready for me to look at when I got there.
When I arrived I was met by a salesman that said "I can't sell you this truck". The reason he gave is that there was an electrical issue with the Computer that they couldn't get the part because of shortages do to covid, but then proceeded to try to upsell me. Then they complained that they have gotten calls for months about this truck, and I promptly advised them that if you wanted to avoid the calls, then take it off the site if you can't sell it because it's broke.
Classic Bait and switch in my opinion.
