Griffey is my favorite all-time player and best I have seen in my lifetime. Is he the best ever I don't know, because I haven't seen everyone play. Griffey picked his top 5 and all are African American players, not reading too much into that, but clearly he had role models that he followed and looked up to in the sport.
I respect his bias opinion but the babe should be in ever top 5 look at those numbers again. Check modern analytics babe leads all the categories we now check.
Despite his list being a BLM statement instead of a legitimate GOAT list... he was still my idol growing up. Nobody has Bob Gibson before Cy Young... unless they have Peyton Manning in front of Brady too. No. Griffey was a good family man, husband, played the right way, behaved the right way, was amazing to watch! Griffey is in my top 5 of my generation/era easily.
@michael cooper every generation has its asterisk. The Dan Marino's and Roger Staubach's were the most mechanical and stiff versions of "athleticism" known to football. Marino more so. The pads were huge and the range of motion was restricted... in many ways its almost a different sport due to equipment advancement, current speed of the game, as well as limitations made on hitting.
He left Babe Ruth out. Barry Bonds. How about Lou Gehrig? Barry probably due to gas, but everyone else was taking, and I'm not absolving jr here either of it. But, to leave at least Babe off that list, there's a scent of racism here. And come on, Lou Gehrig, had he not come down with that despicable disease, he would've had all time top numbers as well. Top 5- 1- Babe Ruth 2- Barry Bonds 3- Lou Gehrig 4- Ted Williams 5- Willie Mays - this one was tough. A lot of guys could've been put in there. Honorable mentions- Hank Aaron, Alex Rodriguez, Albert Pujols, Ken Griffey jr, These next guys I don't care if there's steroids, or they're just known as dopes, but they put up some monster runs- Mark Mcgwire, Sammy Sosa and Manny Ramirez. They've got to be mentioned if Barry is. And they were virtually ALL taking back then---- and are nearly all taking now, albeit maybe, maybe in less dosages to appear less obvious.
Swap out Ricky and put in Griffey. I love Jackie but he does not have the numbers like a Mickey Mantle, Pete Rose. What Jackie did was heroic, incredible and inspiring but that does not mean one of the greatest of all time. Ken you are my favorite player of all times but you didn’t put my second favorite player on your list.....The greatest short stop of all times...Ozzie Smith.
I really like Ozzie but he's not even necessarily HOF worthy. He has a career batting average of .262, zero MVP's, and a total of 28 home runs in 19 years. Ozzie dominated on defense and known as an outstanding base runner but I'm not sure that makes him HOF worthy.
@@tomjoseph1307 He's one of the greatest defensive players of all time but I don't know if that necessarily makes him HOF worthy. Hard to put a career .262 hitter in the Hall when you have other players I think that are a little more deserving. Just my two cents.....
The top 5 players that I’ve seen in my lifetime as an 18 year old kid. Btw this is in no order: Pujols, Ortiz, Jeter, Trout, and Kershaw. Before the 2020 World Series Verlander was on my list but since Kershaw actually has a win as a starter in the WS, he bumped off Verlander.

Yeah, ok.... no mention of Ted Williams, ty Cobb, babe ruth, Lou gehrig, Pete rose, Nolan Ryan, sandy Koufax, Cy young, or Bob feller... Ken, you were my favorite player, but this shows only one thing.....
No Ruth or Cobb?! WTH?!
RIP Rickey Henderson
Griffey is my favorite all-time player and best I have seen in my lifetime. Is he the best ever I don't know, because I haven't seen everyone play. Griffey picked his top 5 and all are African American players, not reading too much into that, but clearly he had role models that he followed and looked up to in the sport.
I respect his bias opinion but the babe should be in ever top 5 look at those numbers again. Check modern analytics babe leads all the categories we now check.
But who did he play against?
@@superdopehiphop stop, not that narrative now
@@superdopehiphop the same people everyone else played against and yet he's the only one with those numbers...
@@GoodfellasX21 what a perfect response. Excellent
Willie Mays, Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Hank Aaron, Randy Johnson
Babe Ruth
That’s hard. I like his list.
That's a BS list and you know it Junior.
There is nothing wrong with Ken's list, at all. When the color barrier was broken, players of color proved themselves.
Pete Rose? Mike Trout?
@@mattwilkie9713Yup.
That makes no sense. Is ur top 5 fav colors potato?
Despite his list being a BLM statement instead of a legitimate GOAT list... he was still my idol growing up.
Nobody has Bob Gibson before Cy Young... unless they have Peyton Manning in front of Brady too. No. Griffey was a good family man, husband, played the right way, behaved the right way, was amazing to watch! Griffey is in my top 5 of my generation/era easily.
Shannon said no pitchers
Thought the same. Love Griff but wtf
I wanted to hear some Rickey stories 😂
His top 5 I can’t deny!!!
Without Jackie Robinson we’d still own our own league & teams
Just like you have your own prosperous beautiful civilized cities?
You mean like the ones that were thriving then were blew up?!
does that make him a top 5 player tho?
@A Champion i can't argue with that at all
I’m leery of idols that are forced on us. All I know is there’s only 1 minority that’s a majority owner in the MLB. Is that progression?
1.Correa
2.Springer
3.Altuve
4.Biggio
5.Bagwell
You must be a Dodgers fan
Like his list
Babe Ruth, The Sultan of Swat, The King of Crash, The Colossus of Clout, The Great Bambino
If I had a top 5, he’d be in mine.
Top 5-
1- Babe Ruth
2- Barry Bonds
3- Lou Gehrig
4- Ted Williams
5- Willie Mays - this one was tough. A lot of guys could've been put in there.
Honorable mentions- Hank Aaron, Alex Rodriguez, Albert Pujols, Ken Griffey jr,
These next guys I don't care if there's steroids, or they're just known as dopes, but they put up some monster runs- Mark Mcgwire, Sammy Sosa and Manny Ramirez. They've got to be mentioned if Barry is. And they were virtually ALL taking back then---- and are nearly all taking now, albeit maybe, maybe in less dosages to appear less obvious.
I think Jr needs a baseball history lesson
I think he needs a blm lesson
needs a trip to the hall of fame
Great list!
Swap out Ricky and put in Griffey. I love Jackie but he does not have the numbers like a Mickey Mantle, Pete Rose. What Jackie did was heroic, incredible and inspiring but that does not mean one of the greatest of all time. I would think Josh Gibson before Jackie and I am a Jackie fan, even Satchel Paige before Jackie or Bob Gibson but everyone has their own list and everyone is entitled to their own list.
Great list. Jackie for his impact, Rickey best lead off hitter, Willie and Hank best players ever and Gibson fiercest pitcher ever.
I truly believe, K.G. is the best baseball player ever
I love his list!!!!!!!!!!
i loved ricky growing up
Some greats on that list 🖤
Babe Ruth
Ted Williams
Nolan Ryan
Joe DiMaggio
Pete Rose
That’s an even better list
🤍🤍🤍🤍
Zero arguments there ! I'd add Griffey Jr And Nolan Ryan
No babe ruth lol
His list.
@@Maal7432 is bullsh*t! We know
He don't have to have Babe Ruth there. Those days you got Ruth and Wagner putting up crazy numbers because the they were great but at the same time the league had a lot guys that just weren't good at all.
@@dontdoittoyoself6786 oh here we go with this narrative again, yawn ....
@@DrzPapi126 Guys were literally custodians in the offseason. Don't be mad!
Babe Ruth? Barry Bonds?
Can’t believe he forgot his friend. Ichiro. Destroy his top 5. Jackie broke the b/w barrier
@@conrad463 he has the highest dWAR of any shortstop all time, the stats say he was greatest defensive shortstop of all time
@@tomjoseph1307 He's one of the greatest defensive players of all time but I don't know if that necessarily makes him HOF worthy. Hard to put a career .262 hitter in the Hall when you have other players I think that are a little more deserving. Just my two cents.....
@@conrad463 WHAT😂😂
@@kobeisthegoat332 I'm supposed to take that seriously with a name like that?
The top 5 players that I’ve seen in my lifetime as an 18 year old kid. Btw this is in no order: Pujols, Ortiz, Jeter, Trout, and Kershaw. Before the 2020 World Series Verlander was on my list but since Kershaw actually has a win as a starter in the WS, he bumped off Verlander.
Rivera always wowed me as a kid day after day he was unhitable. I also really miss watching griffey Jr and manny ramirez at the plate.
Babe,Lou Gehrig,Mays,Joe D, Cobb. Bonds,Walter Johnson hard to leave out.
anyone that doesnt say Barry Bonds is horribly biased
Babe. Pitcher and hitter.
Everyone still knows babe
Most overrated baseball player of all time. Played against a handful of good players and a bunch of scrubs that had jobs in the offseason. Very few pitchers even threw 90mph back then. Most threw 70-80 mph. The fact that a fat, overweight smoker was the best player of the era says it all.
People see the stats and compare them to todays players, which is a joke. Most of the players he played against couldn't even warm the benches in the minor leagues nowadays.
surprised he didn't put the person who was born the same day and in the same city as he was that has him classified as the 2nd best left hand hitting, left handed throwing outfielder born in Donora, PA on that day. that person was Stan the Man Musial
What about Josh Gibson, Satchel Paige, Cool Papa Bell.
It was a list of Major League players not baseball in general.
