We need a video on Houston legend Lance Berkman. Was consistently good for 10 plus yrs and always clutch in the playoffs. Also held the record for doubles by a switch hitter for a bit till Brian Roberts broke it.
One of my favorite athletes. Far and away my favorite baseball player of all time. It was a real treat growing up in the Seattle area and getting to see him play as much as I did. And what was most fun about watching him is how much he had playing, joking with teammates, and even having fun with us fans. He was always a kid at heart. And what too rarely gets mentioned is the fact that of all the players of his generation worth comparison, he was the only one without any connection to performance enhancing drugs.
I watched every game I could live and recorded most. I love watching Ken Griffey Jr. I had to educate people who he was. I'm from England and fell in love with baseball, it was probably what kept me out of them streets.👏🏾👏🏾 I'm from a world of football, Americans call it soccer, but it puzzles most people when I tell them my first love is baseball. I haven't missed an allstar game since I watched my first, which was in Toronto when the American League won 1 - 0, I think 1990.
I was lucky enough to see Griffey play in the Bronx when I was a kid. He inspired me to model my entire game after him as someone who wanted to pursue baseball. Might not have had the talent this guy had... but it sure was fun trying to emulate that swing! Dude was absolutely incredible and a pure artist on the field and in the batters box. Absolute legend. Hands down one of my favorite players I've ever watched.

I’ve always been a Yankees fan and Always Will Be But Who Couldn’t Love And Want To See Him Play Baseball ⚾️!!!! Thanks for this video I learned a lot about KGJ but still One Of If Not My Favorite Players Ever!!!
He’s the goat. He’s the greatest baseball player to ever step on the diamond. If he NEVER got plagued with career dampening injuries at age 30-he’d literally be the only player in history with 800 home runs right now. Without debate. No way he shouldn’t have won MVP in 96 and 99 too.
As a kid growing up playing baseball, and playing high school ball with a few scholarship offers, he was the player everyone tried to imitate. From his swing to his work ethic. And he had the most natural swing I have ever seen. He was the only player I've ever seen in this game who didn't have to try. He just had to show up and he was light years ahead of everyone else.
Being able to grow up watching him in his prime, along with Randy Johnson, Jay Buhner, Omar Vizquel, Edgar fucking Martinez etc was absolutely the greatest core memories a kid could have. I remember watching Griffey Jr. the most though at the Kingdome. He was always hitting homers and making freak catches. Unreal talent
I had the pleasure of living in Seattle while Jr played there and there was so many happy memories. My favorite was the Spiderman catch in right center field as I was at the Kingdome when it happened and it blew my mind when I saw it happening in real time. There will never be another Kid.
I grew up in Gig Harbor in the 90s. My first baseball game my Dad took me across the narrows bridge to the King Dome in 95. Griffey hit a walk off home run wearing their aqua colored home uniforms. One of the best memories of my life. Ill never forget listening to Dave Neihouse call the games in the 90s on my Grandmas porch. Thanks for everything Griffey.
Everyone should be able experience what we did in '95. The Kid was out for awhile and we thought it was over. He comes back and BOOM they went on a tear. It was so frickin exciting that I can't even describe it. I think they were behind like 10 or 11 games in early August and then came all the way back to tie Texas in the last game of the season. Of course they won the extra head-to-head and then the series against the Yankees was epic.
I am lucky enough to have lived in Washington during the griffey years. Although I didn't have season tickets, I did see as many games in the kingdome as I could. Griff was and still is my favorite player followed closely by Frank Thomas. Griff wasn't just a great player, he was the Mariners at the time. If I look close enough there may still be beer stains on the ceiling when Edgar hit that double and scored Griff in 95' to beat the yanks.
He was my favorite player and only four years older than me. He came to a summer league all star tournament and our coach took our team to go see and he was different, we all knew who Senior was and got to know him. We saw him hit a bomb. When I saw bomb I mean bomb, had to be 450 to 500 feet, it was still rising as it cleared the 370 ft center field fence.. he came up and it was all over, he was my favorite player, got to see him play in Atlanta and he did go yard. He stayed healthy he’d be in the 700 club and possibly the all time leader and as everyone knows he did it clean
Man, I was great going to Ms games as a kid and seeing what he could do, those first few years where he literally ran along the wall to make a spectacular catch were incredible. Then seeing him play on the same team with his dad was great too!
The Mariners did bring the Turn Ahead the Clock uniforms back in 2018 for a game against the Royals. Also of note, Griffey helped design the colors and logo of these uniforms as well.
Agreed, I always think Big Jim is underrated (maybe that’s the wrong word, maybe “overlooked” or as you put it “least talked about” would be better). I still think he should’ve placed much higher than 7th in the ‘02 AL MVP 😂.
NOBODY will ever have a more beautiful swing than The Kid!! would have loved to see him stay in Seattle his whole career. the injuries might not have happened or might have in Seattle. nobody will ever know.

Man Grif was my guy growing up. His game was amazing all around and his swing was a beautiful thing. And his swag was off the charts back then. And he's such a good guy. They don't make role models like The Kid anymore.
Best story in baseball ever. Even better than Rickey, and that’s tough. Edit: oh yeah, and the distain for the yankmees was deserved and mastered with class. Griffey is king!
The only problem withe The Kid is he played himself into shape during spring training. And when he hit his 30s that didn’t work anymore, and he refused to change. He started piling up injuries and his bat speed slowed down. And yet he was still one of the all-time greats. As a fan it’s hard to think about how much he left on the table, since his prime was so high and given his skillset his downhill slope shouldn’t have been so steep.
I seriously wonder if that would've changed his injuries. A lot of the time he could only be great, not just okay, you don't have to run straight into the wall in an April game and break your hand. With all those injuries at his younger age, could the preparedness have saved his body from the wear and tear that would continue? I don't know but it would be beautiful to see how it turned out.
Watching Junior catch a fly ball was amazing. It was a coyote hunting a rabbit. Ichiro, Gwynn, Junior...and Rickey, of course. That's my outfield and DH. No offense, but who watched Ken Griffey, Jr. and voted him outside of #1 MVP? I'm not even a baseball fan, but those guys make life better. Great video!
And ty for putting that story about Greg nettles in here too. A lot of ppl don’t know about that story even die hard baseball fans don’t know about it. Great very overall you did the kid justice

@@jonnyblayze5149 agreed, in terms of talent, it’s Bonds then Griffey third is so hard to find, Harper apparently was the most talented prospect so maybe…?
I was 11 when he came into the league. My number was 24, my hat was backward, the griffys shoes were awesome and that swing was so sweet. Still my absolute favorite player in any sport!
Love these player's prime videos.
The fact that there are no asterisks next to his name makes his accomplishments that much greater.
I've never met a baseball fan that hates Griffey jr. Also the same thing with Tony Gwynn. It was wonderful to watch them play.
Very true!
Love Both Players
that swing. perfect.
Thank you for making this video. I wasn't born during his prime but thank God for youtube to be able to witness greatness
Who didn't vote for Hall of Fame induction?!?!? 630 HRs without the juice!
@carlmohr9941 How do you know he wasnt juicing? His numbers went up just like everyone else 's in the 90s
And he was injured for near a 1/3 of his career.
@@christiansoldier77Griffeys career started at the very end of the 80s numb nuts. What do you mean "went up in the 90s" all of his stats were in the 90s and 2000s
@@braheme1260 Griffey is 37th all time in Plate Appearances so He has had more time at bat than the vast majority of hitters in baseball history.
@@christiansoldier77💯 juicing! As you said numbers rose like everyone else and the post roid injury collapse. He fits the profile perfectly. These dudes don’t like to hear that 😂
The best player ive ever seen. When i played baseball my batting stance, swing etc i mimiced JR and i hit bombs .. im blessed to watch him play thank you
As a father whose son followed in his footsteps I know the pride that his father must feel looking on his son as he surpassed his own accomplishments. That’s the greatest feat a father could ever achieve and one of the greatest accomplishments they can achieve together. It’s the type of bond that’s missing from society today. I feel so grateful my son and I have been blessed with that bond just like the Griffey’s and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. A wonderful story set on the backdrop of America’s past time. Make Father’s Great Again 🇺🇸
Beautifully said. If only every Father had your mindset the world would be a much better place!
I can watch anything 90’s baseball all damn day!!!! Great Vid!!
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the vid 🙌🏼
They did do the “turn ahead the clock” jerseys again a few years back. They even played against the royals again like the original game. They were selling those jerseys at safeco for like $300 a piece
Junior was so good
We need a video on Houston legend Lance Berkman. Was consistently good for 10 plus yrs and always clutch in the playoffs. Also held the record for doubles by a switch hitter for a bit till Brian Roberts broke it.
@@ap894what dies that even mean?? 🤣
Fat Elvis? Pride of the Rice Owls? Good call
Ken Griffey will always be one of my favorite players . Hands down my favorite player. I collected all his memorabilia..
I'm from England and fell in love with baseball, it was probably what kept me out of them streets.👏🏾👏🏾
I'm from a world of football, Americans call it soccer, but it puzzles most people when I tell them my first love is baseball.
I haven't missed an allstar game since I watched my first, which was in Toronto when the American League won 1 - 0, I think 1990.
I was a left handed centerfielder and absolutely LOVED JR! I’m 46 and still have 3 of Jr’s posters in my garage.. love #24
Wish that Ken Griffey JR Would’ve Won an World Series Ring 💍 and World Series MVP
My goat! I loved growing up while he was playing! I remember always imitating his batting stance as a kid
I miss watching him play so much! I was about 11 years old on his rookie year and man did he make Baseball Exciting!
Watching him play in the old dome at Seattle brings back so many memories. What a player.
I watch every jr video I find. Born in 82 this was my guy growing up. Forget Mike, everyone wanted to be jr.
I had the pleasure of living in Seattle while Jr played there and there was so many happy memories. My favorite was the Spiderman catch in right center field as I was at the Kingdome when it happened and it blew my mind when I saw it happening in real time.
There will never be another Kid.
Griffey Jr is my favorite player of all time and always will be! Go Ms
Subbed. Ken Griffey Jr is the reason I batted left-handed, played CF, and (still) wear backwards fitted hats. GOAT
Thank you and welcome to the channel!
I love learning he started wearing 42 to honor Robinson, I can't wait to pass that knowledge on to others now, thank you.
What an inspiration as a family as well! Hands down best swing ever.
Alright, this is another player on my list I can cross off. Thanx for doind Ken Griffey JR
Damn good player on the field and a damn good man off the field. Meeting him is one my best memories.
Favorite MLB Player Of all time🙌🏾🔥❗️ That Swing is like poetry in motion! 💎
a .478 batting average in HS. That is insane!
The black Cincinnati jersey was my first jersey i got as a kid and i adored it. It was my greatest treasure. I wore 30 for all my teams
Another stellar video, Cam!
Thank you!
Hands down my favorite player. I collected all his memorabilia.
Born and raised in Hawaii. I’m 38 and KG Jr. is my favorite player of all time.
Edgar needs one of these too!!’
Can't wait for the 'insane *primes* of barry bonds'.
Man, I was great going to Ms games as a kid and seeing what he could do, those first few years where he literally ran along the wall to make a spectacular catch were incredible. Then seeing him play on the same team with his dad was great too!
I'm a lifetime Braves fan but Ken has always been my FAVORITE modern player period ❤
The Mariners did bring the Turn Ahead the Clock uniforms back in 2018 for a game against the Royals. Also of note, Griffey helped design the colors and logo of these uniforms as well.
Great work as always! I would like to see Jim Thome get a video. Easily the least talked about person with 600+ homers
Agreed, I always think Big Jim is underrated (maybe that’s the wrong word, maybe “overlooked” or as you put it “least talked about” would be better). I still think he should’ve placed much higher than 7th in the ‘02 AL MVP 😂.
I'm a huge Yankee fan but Ken Griffey Jr is my all time favorite player
If he never got I really think he would've been the best to ever do it he would've been the hr king. He's still easily top 10 all time
NOBODY will ever have a more beautiful swing than The Kid!!
would have loved to see him stay in Seattle his whole career. the injuries might not have happened or might have in Seattle. nobody will ever know.
my, oh my!
Only just got seriously into baseball the last 2/3 years after spending time in the states over the summer for a few years and even in England I knew I who Ken Griffey Jr was before I knew anything about baseball. Absolute legend
That's awesome! That's the amazing truth about the legends of the game: they transcend the sport
GO JUNIOR AKA THE KID, you were the greatest . The video was dynamic in every sense of the word, you were AWESOME. I LOVED YOUR DAD AS WELL ON THE BIG RED MACHINE 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪😃
Mariners fan since I can remember. I was 10 during the 1995 seasons, when Junior left for Cincy, I was a broken teenager.
Man Grif was my guy growing up. His game was amazing all around and his swing was a beautiful thing.
And his swag was off the charts back then.
And he's such a good guy. They don't make role models like The Kid anymore.
Griffey was the only clean power hitter during the 90s!
We’ll probably never see the combination of talent and class of Junior ever again.
The last true role model of any professional sport. 🇺🇸
Not a sports guy at all, but always felt a pull towards Griffey. What a great all around human being.
Nice job on this video btw!
Keep up the great vids, The Kid was pure magic to watch. How about a video on the Atlanta Braves pitching core of the 90's; Glavin, Smoltz, Maddux...
That would be a good one.
He should have way more mvps.
Yeah. Probably 5 of them in the 1990s.
