People are getting mad at Acuna for being "too good", so they hit him in the arm and back when it has little to no protection on. pitchers are soft. But we saw here that the Marlins threw at Acuña simply bc they didn’t want to be the team that gave up the record (or maybe not the whole team, but the pitcher for sure did it intentionally). I'm with you, how about we just allow sports to evolve with the times? Football (Soccer) has been around for 200 years, in 1900 players didn't celebrate goals with anything more than a fist pump, and a polite golf clap from the crowd. By the time when I was a kid, goal celebrations were just a guy running with his hands in the air, maybe one of his teammates might come over and give him a hug or a kiss on the forehead if it was a particularly important or spectacular goal. But, there were occasional players that came along, mostly foreigners and youngsters, who began to celebrate more elaborately, and guess what? after some initial reluctance, the game evolved. Celebrations have gotten bonkers, to the point that they had to introduce rules to stop time wasting. you get a yellow card for taking your shirt off, not because it's considered crass or over the top, but because it wastes time having to wait for them to put it back on before the game can restart. If Football can evolve with the times, I don't see why baseball can't. The solution seems simple, allow celebrations, batflips, dancing etc, so long as you aren't time wasting too much.
@@bipolarminddroppingsit’s because the old heads want “good old fashioned baseball nothing is allowed to change bring back steroids” blah blah blah bs. 18:22 Here's a little bit more context on the incident. It occurred during the Venezuelan league final between the Tiburones de La Guaira (La Guaira Sharks) and the Leones de Caracas (Caracas Lions). Both teams have a rivalry. They have played in the same stadium for decades. While the Leones are the teams with the most titles in the league, until this year, when they won the league (and the Caribean series :)), the Tiburones were the team with the second-longest curse in Latin America (and the longest in Venezuela). The last time Tiburones were champions before the course, they beat Leones in the final. Many Tiburones fans blame the Leones for being the cause of their course because the next year, Leones beat them with a no-hitter in the final. The main factor Acuña's family got attacked is that Leones' fans were not happy. Both teams DO NOT LIKE each other.
I’ve never seen a sport that actively hates their best and youngest players lol. It feels like the MLB is just unable to market their big players because no one’s allowed to do anything that disrespects the sanctity of the game or whatever. Meanwhile the NFL and NBA barely have to try and their top players are huge stars.

As a kid, I loved baseball. As an adult I find it mildly boring, I’d rather watch sports that actually allow their players to have fun & show enjoyment. “Not respecting the game” & “ruining baseball” is something old people say. They’re the gate keepers responsible for why baseball cannot keep up with the entertainment of other sports. Can’t flip your bat? Can’t stare at a home run too long? Can’t hit a home run on a 3-0 count when you’re winning by 5 runs? Shit is sooooo lame & boring.

I still don't understand the rules on pitching at players Pitchers should be good enough to not hit the player, so rather than getting to first maybe being hit by pitch should give a run (when the pitch is outside the strike zone on the players side) meaning if the pitch is good but a player is hit (diving into it) it doesn't count
the second part is already like that ((diving into it) it doesn't count)... The first makes sense but it changes too much the baseball statistics and the history, so it better get more penalized instead
This is absolutely ridiculous "Pitchers should be good enough to not hit the player" So players can completely crowd the plate So pitchers apparently aren't throwing 95 mph anymore So pitchers can't ever lose grip So pitchers can't ever throw a bad breaking ball that doesn't break There's no way you're actually a baseball fan and said this

You sound like a cry-baby. He can get a different job if getting hit by a baseball every now and then is too much.
Yeah, because even when it's pretty obviously intentional the pitchers can still deny it and there's no way of proving otherwise. Can't be punishing people just on feelings
And pitchers taunt guys a lot less when they're not feeling taunted. Nothing in team sports is more 1v1 than pitcher vs hitter. Expecting everyone to just be OK with people partying at their expense is ridiculous

I only played baseball through highschool, but as a fairly competitive person I always found it weird that it was considered a cool/retaliative thing for pitchers and teams to throw at hitters that pissed them off, instead of beating them head to head. I’d like to see a new narrative of that being a cowardly way of avoiding the duel. I was also a dh who never had the arm to be a pitcher so I might be biased…
Maybe an exception to throw at people who break the law or are juicing though😂😂
It’s honestly wild how it’s just widely accepted for them to intentionally throw at hitters. I blame all the dumb unwritten rules baseball has.
i think they except it cause he massively boosts the numbers. similar to how ufc allowed mcgregor and khabib to fight. they want that spice and drama and emotion.
That's what I adore about hockey is that if a player intentionally harms another player then that guy is expected to face retaliation from the opposing team's teammates. Heck even in football (soccer) the pther teammates tends to defend their own when shit like that happens.
@@shawklan27 I don’t disagree with retaliation in the case of foul play (like your example of a hockey player intentionally hurting someone). But we saw here that the Marlins threw at Acuña simply bc they didn’t want to be the team that gave up the record (or maybe not the whole team, but the pitcher for sure did it intentionally). I’m just saying that it feels weird to compliment pitchers for not challenging a player that’s “too good” and instead acting macho about running away from the face-off by beaming them

There are plenty of quiet and nice players in the league if that’s your thing. Personally, I enjoy watching him play.
The fact that he’s from another country and speaks a different language also lends itself to misunderstandings, both accidental and intentional.

I still don't understand the rules on pitching at players
Pitchers should be good enough to not hit the player, so rather than getting to first maybe being hit by pitch should give a run (when the pitch is outside the strike zone on the players side) meaning if the pitch is good but a player is hit (diving into it) it doesn't count
the second part is already like that ((diving into it) it doesn't count)... The first makes sense but it changes too much the baseball statistics and the history, so it better get more penalized instead
This is absolutely ridiculous
"Pitchers should be good enough to not hit the player"
So players can completely crowd the plate
So pitchers apparently aren't throwing 95 mph anymore
So pitchers can't ever lose grip
So pitchers can't ever throw a bad breaking ball that doesn't break
