It's always great to see a Randy Johnson video on RUclips. I've been a die-hard fan of his since I had the good fortune of attending his 300th win. You've hit upon most of his career highlights, but I was surprised you didn't mention how Randy was so embarrassed by losing the 19-strikeout game in 1997 that he went out on August 8 and struck out 19 batters again, this time making sure he shut out the White Sox.

Reflecting back, I remember being glued to The ABC Coverage of that 1 game playoff in 1995 to give us OUR 1st ever Division Crown and man oh man vrings tears to my eyrs. I still own a sealed casette tape of the miraculous 1995 Seattle Mariners Season with Dave Neihouse's Voice doing play by play. I'm happy he went in as a Diamondbacks Player. Back then, there was a noticable offensive talent gap between the leagues, (plus the DH difference) Quality pitchers often got better going AL to NL, and often experienced a dip in their numbers going from NL to AL.
I do wonder if his 1999 to 2002 numbers would have been as outrageous if he stayed in the AL. I think they would still have been great, but not quite as mind boggling as his desert gunslinger years.

I rank Randy Johnson as my 1 or 1A on my list of liveball era pitchers.
He has one of, if not the best, the "long prime" runs of any liveball pitcher.
I like judging all-time great pitchers by their best circa 3000 - 3500 innings (depending on era). Aka "long prime" It's usually about 11 to 14 seasons. I like this better than career numbers bc many alltime greats, like RJ, had mediocre years after their long prime when their skills have receded due to age/mileage and injuries.
Unit's 1993 to 2005, 13 yrs, a little under 3000 innings is one of the most impressive runs in the liveball era.
    89.3 WAR, avg of 214 IPs and 6.9 WAR per yr (241 IPs & 7.9 WAR based on a 162 game avg). 160 ERA+, 11.5 K/9. 2.77 FIP. 5 Cy Youngs.
Only Roger Clemens circa 3000 inning run from 1986 thru 1998, (age 23 to 35) is basically equal to Unit's run. Also 5 Cy Youngs...155 ERA+, 2.76 FIP
    96.3 WAR, 234 IPs and 7.4 WAR per yr. (250 IP & 7.9 WAR per 162).
Unit struck far more guys out (11.5 per 9 to 8.7 per 9) but Roger was damn near impossible to take deep.

      Thank you!
And to answer your question, it takes roughly 50-55 hours, as crazy as that sounds. Research typically takes a full day (sometimes more depending on the player). Making graphics and editing takes around 4-5 full days if I work all day.

@@ousamaabdu794 It gets to be a lot at times, but I love doing it so it doesn't feel like work! It's fulfilling to give these players the attention they deserve and do so in an entertaining way. It always shocks me that there's not many "career bio" videos out there on YT for players such as Randy.
I appreciate you for supporting the channel, if it wasn't for people like you, I wouldn't be able to do this in the first place!

It's good to see Kevin Brown showing up a few times in this video. He's one of the most underrated pitchers, it'd be great to see a video highlighting his career. If it wasn't for Kevin Brown using steroids, he'd be one of the biggest snubs for the Hall of Fame.

I think that nobody ever considers he retired before the Giants 2010 run because he was absolutely done. But he could have maybe reunited with Griffey in Seattle maybe thats just fan fiction but he could have also made his career span 4 separate decades with Vizquel, Moyer and Griffey

I noticed that nobody ever dared charge the mound... i wonder how many players peed their pants a little. I know that Kruk probably pooped his pants in that all star game. He played for the Indianapolis Indians AAA before he went to Montreal. My dad saw him pitch for Indy and said "There is a big bastard pitching for the Tribe, watch out for him in the future." He was so very right

I feel as though Bert Blyleven needs a video. Don't think he won a Cy Young or 300 games but man he struck out a lot of batters. Herb Score had a short but amazing career for the Indians. Injuries led to a 5-7 year career but his numbers were great for that run

This is what modern baseball needs to convince their hurlers they need to look like if they want multiple pitches at 100mph.
Having guys hovering around 6’2 is not the body frame you want hurling 100 mph+ with movement. This is the recipe to rip that arm right off.
Randy had that long whip, and he used it to launch 100mph with movement for nearly 20 years.
