I always enjoy watching your videos! They are great reminders that content creation should actually include creativity and quality. I wonder if you graded this one differently than you did your R7 videos; the colors seem a bit more vibrant. Also, do you mess with that Dehancer plug-in?

      Thanks bro 👊
Oh there's actually a couple differences from when I was still recording with the R7. I changed the wall behind me and cleaned up the mess that was in the shot. I also changed the lighting setup and let a bit of natural light in, to get an overall more "daylight" look instead of a nighttime one. I also don't have the desk in the shot anymore. Oh and I got a NISI 1/8 dark mist filter too.
In terms of grading, yes, I did mess with it quite a bit on my last 2-3 videos. I think it's at a point now where I'm quite happy with it 😁 Saved it into a preset and it's now super easy to apply to my CLOG3 footage.
I'm using a couple effects, here you go (in order):
      1. Color Wheels for getting the exposure right
      2. CLOG3 conversion LUT from Tyler Stalman
      3. mLUT by MotionVFX with the Film Look LUT pack (one of the presets as a starting point)
      4. a bit of Dehancer to change colors here and there, maybe bit of bloom (before I got the dark mist filter)
      5. Balance Color (White Balance to my white card in the shot)
      6. Color Wheels for final adjustments
That's really it... honestly... just trying things, I'm definitely not an expert in grading (far from) 😂
I think however, that I could get the exact same look with the R7, as it'll be the same lens and the same CLOG3 Cinema Gamut footage!
Now that I think of it... all of the shots where the R6 II was in the shot in this video, was filmed with the R7 😃

@@coppensbram WOW! Thank you so much for this thorough reply! I really appreciate it. Actually, I just wondered whether the broll of the R6 MKII was filmed with the R7. If you ask me, it looks stunning too. Not much difference. Probably the shot is wider on the FF, but otherwise, I don't spot a real difference. Do you think you can get similar results with your 18-35 Sigma lens?

      @@potbtech you’re very welcome 😉
Yes indeed, the FF gives a wider shot, and a tad more bokeh (an F4 lens on FF is like F2.8 on APS-C). The R7 and R6 II video quality is very similar, same codecs, colors, etc. it’s a really good combo!
I think you can get the same (or very similar) look with the Sigma 18-35. I noticed it’s a bit more towards the green end with the colors, whereas the Canon L lenses are a bit more towards magenta. But that’s a super easy correction in Final Cut!
I saw the best progress of colors and visual quality when I bought better lights with a proper soft box (Amaran 60XS and Smallrig 55cm soft box). And of course, using a bit of natural light!
If you want I can send you a FCP preset with my grade 😊

@@coppensbram Thanks for this thorough reply. Honestly, can't wait to see you getting the recognition you deserve!
Yes, the Sigma has some clinical and cold look, which based on my research, could be mitigated with a filter. I wonder whether you had to calibrate yours with a Sigma dock? Also, have you ever tried to use a 0.71 adapter for RF full-frame glass on your R7? I wonder if that actually works as they say?
IMHO, the Amaran series is unmatched in terms of what you get for the price. I have a 200D and Light Dome 2 and recently bought a 60D + Light Dome Mini SE. I regret that combo wasn't available when I got the 200D. It's so much more versatile and light. Plus, you get a decent case with quality somewhat lower than DJI's. I wish they had that for their bigger Amaran lights.
Anyways! Keep up the fantastic work.

@@potbtech I haven’t done the calibration the Sigma lens. Maybe something worth to look into! But I think you can easily color correct it!
I’ve also not tried to use an adapter for the lenses. You mean a speed booster, right? I think that would only work with EF glass 🤔
Thanks so much for the support 🙏

hi, i know it's not the subject of the video but can you tell me if the canon r7 and the sigma 18-35mm suit perfectly in your peek design 3l sling bag ?

    • @coppensbram
      @coppensbram  Год назад

      Hi there! No problem 😉
I have sold the 3l peak design bag and got the 6l instead… I don’t think it will fit nicely with the sigma 18-35…
