I finally jumped in to mirrorless from a Nikon D850. I played with a little R10 an was blown away with the bird eye AF. I consider it a game changer. So I sold all my Nikon gear and jumped in to Canon RF with an R6II and the RF100-500 + 1.4 Extender. Wow! Couldn't be more happy and my keeper rate went way up. Now I just need to be patient for the R5 Mark II.
Duade, I'm a recent subscriber and I've been continually blown away by the consistantly high quality content. It's so easy to follow and your ability to give concise descriptions of things before delving deeper into subjects makes every video interesting and easily accessible. I have some photography training but nothing wildlife related, so the past few weeks I've been out practicing every day. Sometimes I'll even pause one of your videos and go out for a session, inspired by what I've seen you do. Keep it up!!! (I used to live in Wangaratta so it's also nice seeing some of my favourite spots around there in your videos)
Thanks Tim, I appreciate the feedback, it is comments like yours that give me the motivation to keep doing videos and helping others. I owe photography a lot in regards to my mental health and I am happy others are getting to experience the same highs. Glad to hear you lived in Wang, I love it, not too big and I can get to Woolies without a single traffic light.👍😀 Cheers, Duade 👍
Yes, some people’s FPS are higher than others… I could not agree more ;-) Your comment is exactly what I wanted to say. Duade, you won yourself a new subscriber ;-)
I just purchased this camera, I am a hobbyist and getting into photography with first full frame sensor, out of the so many videos on internet, this is the most detailed, to the point, factual and amazingly useful for everyone. Thanks a lot, first ever video of yours that I am watching and I am a happy subscriber now. Keep up your work, love it!
Thanks for the outstanding reviews and hints! I love the fully practical (vs. lab test) aspect of your reviews and tips. I can go try things right now!
Man! Your reviews are ASTONISHING! Detialed, thorough, but concise. Full of technical details but only those related to real-life performance. Crisp audio, nice looking and ilustrative footage, esthetic and clear visual effects, great concept of before/after pictures and above all the topics are relevant for real-life performance. You are the Curtis Judd of wildlife photo reviewers.
Thank you so much Pawel, not sure why this comment just popped up in my feed so apologies for the delay. I really appreciate the feedback, Cheers, Duade
I've taken my R6m2 out for the first show I shot this weekend, and it's a ton of features to learn from the RP I've been shooting with for the last 3 years. Instead of turning off the subject tracking, I keep my camera's AF area in "Whole Area AF" and set my back button focus to "Set AF point to center". Not sure how effective that is for you in the tall grass, but it's worked pretty well for me at the show. I even tried this out on my old RP, and I'm kicking myself for not having done this years ago, although I'd have to press the back button focus twice instead of once to get it to track. Thank you for this video! I was a fan of your sensor readout video, and was glad to know what the R6m2 readout is. I may not be a wildlife photographer, but your observations and opinions are very informative. Cheers!
Out of all youtuber's. i love the way you explain things & show on the screen how the auto focus works & all so use charts to show what each camera does. Thank you so so much.
I have 2 of these now. I have had 90d and r7, and tried r5. I have one with rf100-500 and one with rf800, and must say they give me the best shot ever in the nature. R6 mkii have a fantastic focus system you can trust on, and a very fast readout speed at about 14 ms. Whatever people think about more mpx we know that 1dx have only 20 mpx and delivere a vert high standard. With 24 mpx and the prescision and speed r6 mkii gives, I really love this camera. I think, finally Canon did it. A "midtrange camera in the high end" very close to the real proff where every body can get the feeling of taking proffs photos.
This is such a good quality review, all those technical details that matter to the everyday experience, the comparison to the other models. I was already looking at the R6II for my entry into full frame mirrorless based on specs only, but this hands on review has definitely convinced me that this is indeed the right R-line body for me.
Thanks for a thorough review as I understand the advantages of the R6ii better now. I am receiving this camera next week, already ordered on delivery and excited to use it. I really like how you show the stickiness of the AF and the various subjects and eye detects. While not a perfect camera, it sounds vastly superior to my older Canon 80D in many ways especially tracking and low light compared to APS-C. Thanks for posting this video. I am also shopping lenses, so I will see if you have reviews for Canon FF.
I am new to this channel but I am overwhelmed by the quality of the review both from technical and artistic perspective. Probably the most informative and influential review so far
Hi Duade thanks for your content absolutely love it. Have just upgraded this week to a r6 mark ii and a 600mm f11 rf lens from a canon 50d and a tamron 70-300. I don’t actually have words to explain the difference absolutely love it. Thanks again for the content have learnt so much from your videos.
Just joined your membership. Better than one coffee per month for sure. Really enjoying your videos. I'm getting the R6 MII next week, excited to start learning mirror less and wildlife photography. Still considering lenses, but based on your endorsement, probably going for the RF 100-500. Thanks for a great channel!
Thanks for joining Michael, I really appreciate it, congrats on the R6II, it is one of the most well rounded cameras I have used and it will perform very well for you. Funnily enough I really enjoy the RF800 f11 on that camera if you want an affordable lens with lots of reach for those small or skittish subjects. The RF100-500 is of course wonderful and versatile. Cheers, Duade
since youve been on the photowalk podcast im hooked on your videos i even bought the r10 and rf 100-400 to give shooting birds ago (not very well so far but im learning) but been a fuji shooter for years im blown away with the autofocus on the r10 its so much better than what i was used to, and now im tempted by this camera, thanks for putting a bit of fun in my photography chasing birds aswell as my usual landscape images.
Thanks for the awesome review! Personally, i think the 24MP is not that bad, it's simply a compromise. Lower MPs do have a few unspoken advantages, and if you dont need to crop that much, it can be really nice. As a hobby-photographer, honestly, i appreciate the files not being too big, since that just increases copying time, nescessary storage space on the cards and on hard drives and so on. Considering the R6m2 works perfect without needing more expensive CF Express cards, i do really appreciate that it should only take roughly half the storage space and half the time for copying compared to a 45MP camera. So, for me, 24MP is just perfect (i'm currenly shooting with a 10MP Nikon 200D) and i'll be definitely getting the R6m2!
I posted above that I compared dozens of R6 and R5 images shot identically with the best RF lenses, then output using Adobe Camera Raw to 45 MP (most people don't realize you can do this) then layered the images and did a "blind" comparison. I could not tell the difference between the R6 and R5. I was about 50/50 with my guesses (viewed 100% zoom on a 5K monitor). Then I used the "enhance" feature on the R6 files then output again using Adobe Camera Raw to 45 MP and the R6 files looked sharper and more detailed (especially on the portraits). I saw no scenario where if I printed (or cropped) the R6 files were not as usable as the R5 files. At one point I was starting to convince myself that MP is now basically a "scam" once you get over about 20 MP on a 35mm sensor.
@@77dris I kinda feel the same way.... 45+ MP sensors are nice... if you're shooting with the best primes and need massive blow up capabilities. Otherwise, you're just showing off the failings of less-than-perfect glass. Properly focused with a decent lens, I can take half a 24MP image and make a 12"-18" print of it that looks just fine. Canon's best bodies were never MP monsters, and I always assumed that was the case because if you had $6000 to lay down on a body, you probably had the money to buy lenses to get the reach you wanted instead of cropping in.
Duade, as usual, super easy to understand, straight to the point, useful details, in-the-field demonstration and resulting image. That is a perfect example of what is a good review. Nice work and thanks for the hard work which I hope you also enjoyed a lot ^^. Always have a great time when watching your videos. Cheers
Hi Duade Thanks a lot for this video , as a R6 owner i think there is not great upgrade for me and since differences are not game changer for me i will still continue with R6 since i have great photos with it thank you to help me for making decision
Hi Duade, I've been interested in the R6 mkii as my first mirrorless body after getting into wildlife photography recently. Thank you for the detailed review.
What a fantastic video. Within the space of a week you managed to knock it out the park! Whatever Canon have done with the battery life and the focus improvement with the RF800 is fantastic, oh not to mention the improvement in rolling shutter. Please continue to create content, it’s great to watch!
Im from vancouver Canada.. and caught myself watching your video while eating TimTams. hahah.. just thought id share. Thanks for the awesome Review! Always keeping it interesting and engaging. Good news about the R5 as i own one too. Is that canon is expected to release a major firmware update for the R5 to keep it going this year before they release the R5II.. and it will get rid of the record limit as well, and have all the AF improvements and additions that were put onto the R6II. It was also mentioned there is expected to be an "above and beyond" feature added aswell. This feature may be a test feature for Canons R1 camera. Im excited for this! Could be around April / May for release.
Hi Duade, another job well done! Thank you! Regarding your question why Canon R6II offers 5 FPS for electronic shutter, my guess was that it would be very useful when people need to take slow actions, such as music on stage, and need silent shutter.
Hi Duade ! This is the first video that I saw from you and it is amazing, you deserve a tons of thumbs up 👍, I just subscribed. I few months ago my R6 was modified for astro-photography then I just ordered the R6 II yesterday, it should get here this Wednesday, your review made me feel comfortable with the decision to purchase this second R6, I’m trying to learn how to get good shoots, I’m new in this field. Thank you.
Thanks Hector, you will love the R62, it is a wonderful camera and makes a few small improvements over the R6. Good luck with it when it arrives, Cheers, Duade
First vid I've seen of yours Duade. Really great footage and commentary. Just bought an R62 (upgrading from the 5D3) and can't wait to get out and start shooting. Thanks for the tips.
this video has really been helpful. Im from nigeria and trying to start wildlife photography and documentaries. i use the ef 100-400mm primarily because im on a budget. its my first time starting or handling a mirrorless camera professionally.
I've had mine for a week after trading my R6. As a sports photographer this is a great upgrade. I think Canon have really hit the sweet spot with the new sensor. After using it for one week I feel there is more to this upgrade than meets the eye. Have motorcycle racing to shoot on the 18th. Very excited to put this beast through it's paced. Good job Canon and nice review Duade!
Hi Duade, the AF is fantastic but don't think I can afford to trade in my R6 to buy the R6 Mk2 - just a little miffed that Canon brought out the Mk 2 so soon after I got the R6! That said, I'm blown away with the R6 and the RF100-400 which I often use with the RF2x Extender. You certainly are lucky with your colourful birds in Oz, so seeing the pictures you take are an added bonus when I watch your videos and I always learn something new.
Hi Duade. Was eagerly awaiting for this review and you certainly didn’t disappoint us. Excellent and non biased review for many fence sitters. Surely will seriously think of this model when I switch over. Thanks again for your humungous efforts in providing us with lots of information. Looking forward to see more of your videos.
Duade! Thank you again so much for the video. I'm currently sitting in my apartment, unable to bird because it's been raining for a week straight. Your videos are such a welcome addition to my day, I almost feel like I've been out photographing birds myself! I know I'm not alone in saying this--we appreciate you!
Thank you for all the work you put into this review. You may have become the best camera reviewer on RUclips. The honesty and non biased feel really sets you apart.
Excellent review. I purchased and returned the original R6 and bought the R5, as cropping was critical in my case. Your review shows that Canon has listened to customer feedback and improved the camera. I think the new R6Mk 2 is pretty compelling for new buyers, but likely not enough of an improvement for existing R6 owners to upgrade. Thanks for providing us with a very timely, non hyped review. Good work.
The R6 mk2 is definately more compelling than the R6 was, but in the end, the R6 was a crippled R5, and the Mk2 is now a just less crippled R5 with some features the users liked and wanted hard. Wold be the price the same, it could be really nice for some and even me, but i think the price is a bit too high (+400€ in europe over the Mk1) Im pretty happy with the R7, got it brand new for only 1100€ body only since the kit for 1400€ was too expensive for my taste.
Thank you Duade! I am a pro shooting equine and motorcycle events. Been sitting the fence about making the mirrorless switch, but this review tells me everything I need to know about the right one for my business. Right down to letting us hear the shutter (since horses can be very sensitive to this on the trail). I appreciate you doing this great review.
hi i just wanna say i love the way you put on your raw files so we can see the picture you got then show what it came out like in light room. thank you
Recently subscribed to your channel. As a Nikon system user, I’m doing some research on other platforms for a friend who is just entering this field. Your clear and detailed exploration of Canon equipment has made your clips a go-to resource for me to tabulate the pros and cons and formulate a short-list. Thanks very much, Mate!
Hello my friend Duade, first of all congratulations once again for an excellent detailed video... And that everyone praises you and rightly so!! I just bought the R6 and soon they launch the R6 mk2. I watched all of your video and honestly I would only trade it for 2 factors which would be the battery life and the improved autofocus system. I never needed a high frame rate when shooting, I got used to and perfected my eyes in these 29 years photographing birds, I don't need that many frames.... But the difference in noise is relatively higher on the R6 Mk2 and that made me think about would switch to the R6 mk2. I really don't know if it's really worth switching now. I would have to sell the R6 minga to buy the Mk2 and that would not be an easy task.... I am saving money to buy the 100-500 RF and for me it is more important than changing the body.... Again the Canon put perfumeries on the body just to attract buyers.... there are many things to really improve....
Nice work. I just rented the R6MKII and have 4 days on it and its 5 to -5 Fahrenheit here so no way I'm going to get that deep into this camera for the review lol. Great job
Hi Duade. Well, another superb video, thank you very much. Others have said the same, but your videos are without doubt the best available on the net - and always brilliant images to see within the videos. I've got my fingers well and truly crossed that some of the autofocus improvements/features we've seen recently on the R3/R7/R10and R6 Mark II find their way on to the R5 by way of a firmware update. Anyone who buys the R6 Mark II is certainly getting a great camera. Thanks again. John
Thanks John, yes, they sure do seem to be updating the cameras with every new release. I agree it would be nice for Canon to update the R5/6 with firmware updates. Cheers, Duade 👍
Great review as always Duade. I just ordered mine, got it at a special unadvertised price from a major US store for $1699 US! Going to sell my R and probably my R7. Then I can get the 200-800 whenever it finally gets stocked in the stores.
One possible use for the digital TC: As a birder I oftentimes use my R6 + 100-500 + 1.4x TC to take record photos of very distant birds. Even with this combo I sometimes end up with photos where the bird is tiny in the frame. What I recently have began to do is to use my setup as a “poorman’s” spotting scope by pressing the magnifying glass button once or twice (5x and 10x) to study very distant birds through the viewfinder. The problem is that once I press the shutter button it goes back to normal “1x” view so to speak and photos don’t have that added digital zoom. It looks like with the digital TC I might be able to both view and take record pictures with an additional digital zoom.
Yes, as long as JPEG is acceptable to you. I don't think his quick dismissal of the mode is fair, even though I agree that it is gimmicky as it is implemented and described. When you look under the hood at what the Digital TC is, it is really a 2x and a 4x crop mode in addition to 1.6x, but treated as a faux-TC with gratuitous upsampling so you have 24MP, just like with a real TC, and crippled with JPEG-only output. As gimmicky as it is in the "teleconverter" concept, it does give you the viewfinder experience of a 2x and 4x crop mode, and any metering or AF advantages which that may impart. And, if you are happy with a combination of your lens and a 1.5MP or 6MP capture, you get 4x or 2x the rolling shutter speed, compared to the same angle of view using the entire frame.
Excellent detail review. Best on RUclips. Thank you so much. Happy to hear that the sensor readout speed has been improved to R5 level. But IMHO, rolling shutter is still a problem with that speed. 40FPS with SD card slot just doesn't make sense. Personally, waiting patiently for a Canon 45MP+ stacked BSI sensor...R5 MK2, R3 MK2 or R1.
Thanks Simon, yes, Stacked BSI is the future with mirrorless to avoid rolling shutter and I'm not sure why we didn't get a CF Express B slot, it would have made sense. Given the improvements in this body I suspect the R52 or R1 will be pretty epic. Cheers, Duade
Love your review videos Duade, best on the internet. I purchased an R7 2 months ago but i shoot a lot of low light sports and the noise is just horrible. The mechanical shutter is clunky and the rolling shutter in electronic mode is awful. Finally given up with it and trading it in for an R6 mkii so this review particularly interested me. I have seen some fantastic shots of wildlife taken with the R7 but low light sports, forget it. Controversial but in my opinion my 7D mkii was better apart from the tracking. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for sharing your experience Colin, the R62 is a very different camera and I am sure you will love it, let me know how you go with it. Cheers, Duade
Thank You again for an excellent video review. My Canon bodies are now R6 and R10 but I am considering to upgrade to R6 ll. The biggest reason may be the better af which works wider with rf 800mm f11 and like with my R10 the af can now track birds eye with spot af. Compared to my Sony a7 mark IV Canon has less customisable buttons which is a bit annoying - and of course Sony 7iv has these 33mpix. That is why I have R10 because 7,7 in crop mode is not a lot. In dark finnish winter I have been using with R6 and a7IV with iso 25600 and after Topaz the results are reasonably good. It was very nice to know that with r6ll you have wider af area when using rf 800mm f11 - it is a very sharp lens and I use on bright conditions......
Loved the video, great explanation, thank you. I’m going to buy a R6 II or r5 coming from the Eos 7D and i mainly like to shoot actions, so i think i might go for the R6 II and get maybe a playful lens for when i travel (like the 24mm 1.8 or the 50mm).
Love your videos Duade! Even though I shoot Nikon, I still watch all your videos, including ones like this, as I enjoy your enthusiasm as well as your photography.
Publishing some cracking videos at the moment Duade. Best review of the R6 mkii for us birders for sure! Keep up the great work, always look forward to your content.
Thank you for doing this review Duade. I think this is the first legit review of a R6ii out that is a full on review and with a production version at that! Your use case in this video of wildlife is right in line with one of my favorite subject matters so that helps too LOL. My R6ii arrived yesterday and I believe I'll be making the button assignment that you did at the end one of my first moves.
Wow!! As always, suuuuper in depth video. I think you may have convinced me of my next camera body. Seeing those rolling shutter timings, it definitely explains why, in a photo that i took of a Red Bellied Woodpecker with electronic shutter, his wings looks like he's hugging a softball. I thought, either the woodpecker's wings are rubber, or this electronic shutter is making some hilarious images. Shutter was 1/1250, shooting w an EOS R. The slide explains everything! Again, I appreciate your work here on YT. You've been a HUGE help in my wildlife photography journey. Have a great day and weekend, sir!
Excellent video - you manage to convey all of the information in an accessible and interesting way. Nerdy nature photography has never been so fascinating! As an existing R6 owner, I can't justify the upgrade - but watching your evaluation here of the 2 cameras (and some of your other vids) has taught me more about how to get the best from my R6. Thank you.
Wow! What an exceptionally crafted review video! Thank you very much for all your efforts in creating it. Must have taken ages. Far beyond the best quality and most enjoyable review I've seen of the R6 Mk ii yet. Well done Duade! Lastly, all amazing photos too, but got to say, that last one of the bird looking back at you between its own legs, was an absolute cracker haha. Extra bonus to see you're a fellow Aussie. Keep up the great work mate! 👍 Take care 🙂
Thanks Grant, glad you enjoyed it, it was a lot of fun to put together, yes, the Babbler shot was a favourite. Great to hear you get to enjoy our beautiful birds also. Cheers, Duade
Thank you Duade for your inspirational job! It would be very interesting to see the direct comparison with first R6 (especially AF work). Look forward to new videos! Alex
Thanks Alex, it can be tough to test AF but the R62 does feel a touch better in the field. The improved AF with the RF800 f11 is welcomed. Cheers, Duade
Great video! I've just bought an R6 mkII and I was struggling to figure out how to stop it tracking in spot focus. Yours is the only video I've found which explains this. Just a point on the 5fps electronic shutter - not everyone is a wildlife photographer! Having a silent shutter is going to be great when I'm shooting weddings etc but I don't need the high fps for this. I'm looking forward to getting out and trying my new RF 100-400, which I bought for an absolute steal (with a huge trade-in bonus on a 29 year-old lens!), so I was pleased to hear that you were impressed.
Really great review Duade! The R6 Mark II is very temping for me. I think I will likely end up waiting for the R5 Mark II. What I really want from Canon is Pro APS-C body. Either something like the R6 with a fast APS-C sensor or an R7 with a better EVF, buffer, and a faster sensor. Nice if it was a stacked sensor. If I was in charge it would have the quad pixel AF from the OM-1. I love my RF 100-500mm and that is keeping me from selling my Canon gear. I could easily sell my R6 kit and R7 kit and have enough to buy the R5 MarkII when it shows up. But I can imagine that I’d still pick up the OM-1 more often. The weight is a big factor for me. As small and light as the R7 and 100-500 I still notice some shoulder soreness after carrying it for few hours. I can carry the OM-1 with the PL 100-400 all day with no soreness.
you can expect quad pixel AF to be ONLY on the R1, as will the better EVF and screen imho. Canon's cripplehammer is a powerful tool *wink wink*. The R5 II will probably not even be BSI, let alone stacked, will probably have a price hike of at least USD $500 over the original R5. I reckon the improvements will be limited to DPAF v2 like the R3, dual CFExpress slots and dual Digic X processor, with a standard 61mp CMOS sensor in play. I guess time will tell if my suspicions will be correct. For me, the R6 II is a poor upgrade option if you own a R6 - 4mp is a poor upgrade, I suspect that 40fps with rolling shutter means poor usability imho, and i don't care for video at all, so the video upgrades are meaningless to me personally.
Thanks David, yes it will be interesting to see what the R52 brings. The R62 really just ironed out the few quirks of the R6 making it more refined if that makes sense. Cheers, Duade 👍
@@Duade yes, it sure does. The R6 II is a very nice upgrade from a DSLR, there's no 2 ways about it. But, as an upgrade from an R6, it's poor imho. Canon must be having real issues with it's sensor fabrication process, since they are pushing non BSI, non stacked, low mp (vs the competition) sensors consistently in their products. And, their products are much higher priced than their competition too. I'm still to watching your video (have it bookmarked to watch) - ended up watching Gordon Laing's review part 1 and some of his part 2 on the EOS R3. Yes, I am thinking about getting the R3. I got a nice red backed fairy wren last friday and tuesday :-)
@@davepastern Thanks David, yes, it is interesting to see where they go, the R62 sensor is still very nice and performs well but stacked is clearly the future. I am not sure if there is an affordable stacked FF sensor on the market yet, I guess with time it will come. I am looking forward to the R52 and the R1 in the upcoming years, well done on the Fairy-wren, would love to see them again. Cheers, Duade
Really informative. I daresay I'll be considering mirrorless one day, and these kinds of videos are invaluable . . . . so so helpful. Love some of the images you share too by the way.
Duade Again the worldwide best done wildlife shooting test of new Canon equipment again from your side! Thank you towards Down Under! BTW: Decent shots of magnificent Australian birds as we are used delivered by you as proven enthusiastic and skilled photographer. What a great camera this R6 II is!
the bird looking through his legs was epic love it
I finally jumped in to mirrorless from a Nikon D850.
Congrats, that is a big jump but that kit is excellent and is just a very versatile all around kit. Cheers, Duade
And then become the might nikon z8 came :) its time get back to nikon
Buy camera insurance immediately..
accidents & theft. 😉
for birding r7 would be better.
Well? Are you going to get that R5 Mkii?
Duade, I'm a recent subscriber and I've been continually blown away by the consistantly high quality content. It's so easy to follow and your ability to give concise descriptions of things before delving deeper into subjects makes every video interesting and easily accessible. I have some photography training but nothing wildlife related, so the past few weeks I've been out practicing every day. Sometimes I'll even pause one of your videos and go out for a session, inspired by what I've seen you do. Keep it up!!! (I used to live in Wangaratta so it's also nice seeing some of my favourite spots around there in your videos)
He does a great job of balancing the hard data, and the human element of working with the gear.
very helpful video, thanks
Thank you, I appreciate it. Cheers, Duade 👍
Yes, some people’s FPS are higher than others… I could not agree more ;-)
Your comment is exactly what I wanted to say. Duade, you won yourself a new subscriber ;-)
Crazy professionalism in these review videos. Hats off.
Thanks Antaia, I appreciate it, Cheers, Duade
I just purchased this camera, I am a hobbyist and getting into photography with first full frame sensor, out of the so many videos on internet, this is the most detailed, to the point, factual and amazingly useful for everyone. Thanks a lot, first ever video of yours that I am watching and I am a happy subscriber now. Keep up your work, love it!
i had the R7, R5 and R6 II. i sold the R5 and R7 because of how much better the color, low noise, auto-focus my R6 II has.
Duade, your videos are great and super useful. Thanks for all the efforts and insights. Happy birding!
Thanks Tom, I really appreciate all the support, have fun out there, Cheers, Duade
Thanks for the outstanding reviews and hints! I love the fully practical (vs. lab test) aspect of your reviews and tips. I can go try things right now!
Thanks for the support and glad you found the video helpful, good luck, Cheers, Duade
It was a very detailed video that answered many questions about the Canon R6 mark 2. You did a great job, man.
Thanks Ata, I appreciate the feedback, Cheers, Duade
My R6 MK2 arrived yesterday afternoon, can't wait to head out this weekend to the Parks and test it out.
UGH!!! Still waiting on mine!
Thanks again for the quality content Duade!
My pleasure, Cheers, Duade 👍
What a great video - the graphs showing how things compare to other Canon, Sony, Nikon, Fuji cameras is SO helpful!
Thanks, great to hear it was helpful, Cheers, Duade 👍
Awesome you've got the Canon R6 Mark II in hand to use. I love your wildlife photography and the way you analyse things like focus issues.
Thanks for the feedback, Cheers, Duade
Thanks
Thank you so much for the support, I really appreciate it, Cheers, Duade
This is such a good quality review, all those technical details that matter to the everyday experience, the comparison to the other models. I was already looking at the R6II for my entry into full frame mirrorless based on specs only, but this hands on review has definitely convinced me that this is indeed the right R-line body for me.
Great to hear, I am sure you will love the camera, Cheers, Duade
Thanks for a thorough review as I understand the advantages of the R6ii better now. I am receiving this camera next week, already ordered on delivery and excited to use it. I really like how you show the stickiness of the AF and the various subjects and eye detects. While not a perfect camera, it sounds vastly superior to my older Canon 80D in many ways especially tracking and low light compared to APS-C. Thanks for posting this video. I am also shopping lenses, so I will see if you have reviews for Canon FF.
Díky!
Thank you so much for the support David, Cheers, Duade
Thanks!
Thanks Jeff, I really appreciate the support, Cheers, Duade
I’m home from work in two weeks and I’m getting this camera, can’t wait, my mouth is watering after this review! Appreciate your time
Thanks Frank, it is a wonderful all around camera, very strong indeed, have fun. Cheers, Duade
@@Duade So I got this amazing camera and the RF 100-500. Such a great combination and the image quality is beautiful
@@FrankH-sz1ln That is great to hear, congrats on the kit, I am sure it will serve you well for years to come. Cheers, Duade
I am new to this channel but I am overwhelmed by the quality of the review both from technical and artistic perspective. Probably the most informative and influential review so far
Excellent Duade! My favourite photo? Everyone of 'em, even the one with the 40D!
Great to hear Geoff, yes, a very big jump indeed. Have fun, Cheers, Duade
This camera review was off the hook good! And I’ve watched a lot of them over the years. Well done Duade!
Thanks Lyndon, you are too kind, Cheers, Duade 👍
@@77dris hi Dris, I didn’t know about that either. Could you tell me the steps to output to 45mp? I’d love to try it.
Yep, I’ve never seen any complaints about the IQ of the 1DXiii and that’s even less pixels.
Duade, as usual, super easy to understand, straight to the point, useful details, in-the-field demonstration and resulting image. That is a perfect example of what is a good review. Nice work and thanks for the hard work which I hope you also enjoyed a lot ^^. Always have a great time when watching your videos. Cheers
Thanks so much Gregory, I really appreciate it, yes, I had fun making this video for sure. Cheers, Duade
Hi Duade
Thanks a lot for this video , as a R6 owner i think there is not great upgrade for me and since differences are not game changer for me i will still continue with R6 since i have great photos with it thank you to help me for making decision
I'll also keep my R6, not worth the switch other than the huge difference in battery life and it doesn't heat up like the R6.
13:03 😂Yeah... I'd be VERY pleased with that one, too!
Yes, image of the day for sure, so much fun. Cheers, Duade
Very concise, clear, comprehensive review! Thank you!
Hi Duade, I've been interested in the R6 mkii as my first mirrorless body after getting into wildlife photography recently. Thank you for the detailed review.
My pleasure, glad it was helpful, Cheers, Duade
I just purchased the R6ii and your review was helpful, especially the last tip on the selection of the AF point. Thanks!
This is one of the best made reviews I've ever seen! Quite tempted to upgrade to the R6 mk2 from a 6D mk2
Excellent review as always and that Babbler shot through its legs is gold
Thanks Chris, yes, I loved that one, Cheers, Duade
The best complete review performed by the best reviewer !

Thanks, Duade! This is my first time on your channel. I was engaged from start to finish. Thanks for the detailed review!
Welcome to the channel, I am happy to hear you enjoyed the video, Cheers, Duade
I've had mine for a week after trading my R6. As a sports photographer this is a great upgrade. I think Canon have really hit the sweet spot with the new sensor. After using it for one week I feel there is more to this upgrade than meets the eye. Have motorcycle racing to shoot on the 18th. Very excited to put this beast through it's paced. Good job Canon and nice review Duade!
Thanks for sharing Lloyd, great to hear you are enjoying the camera. Good luck with the shoot. Cheers, Duade 👍
Duade - awesome review. I don't usually comment, but your content is A+++++++. Thank you so much for the efforts
Thanks for taking the time to comment Michael, Cheers, Duade 👍
Tremendously informative review, Duade. You addressed all the Qs I had. You are producing the best quality wildlife camera content I've ever watched.
Thanks Kevin, you are too kind, Cheers, Duade
Fantastic review of what looks like a fantastic camera. 40fps with a usable electronic shutter is a game changer and the AF is crazy good.
My pleasure Jai, glad it was helpful, Cheers, Duade 👍
Duade! Thank you again so much for the video. I'm currently sitting in my apartment, unable to bird because it's been raining for a week straight. Your videos are such a welcome addition to my day, I almost feel like I've been out photographing birds myself! I know I'm not alone in saying this--we appreciate you!
It is my pleasure, sorry to hear about the weather, we have had a lot of rain here also. Have fun once the weather improves, Cheers, Duade

Which camera and lens is shooting you in this video? Looks terrific!
@@TravAlligator Thanks, you are too kind, I believe it was the R5, I use the R6II now for my filming needs. Cheers, Duade
Wold be the price the same, it could be really nice for some and even me, but i think the price is a bit too high (+400€ in europe over the Mk1)
Im pretty happy with the R7, got it brand new for only 1100€ body only since the kit for 1400€ was too expensive for my taste.
Nice video, my R6 Mk II arrived yesterday and I'm looking forward to getting out there and doing some wildlife shooting. Cheers!
My pleasure Becky, have fun with the camera, Cheers, Duade
Superb video, thanks for taking the time to review it so thoroughly. I can tell you enjoyed this, it really comes through in the video!
Thanks Simon, yes, I had a blast, Cheers, Duade
Awesome video! I currently have the r6 with the rf800 and will be upgrading!
Great to hear Nick, I am sure you will love how that combo now works, Cheers, Duade
hi i just wanna say i love the way you put on your raw files so we can see the picture you got then show what it came out like in light room. thank you
My pleasure Nick, a great way to learn, Cheers, Duade
Greast overview thanks. Never thought about iso speed and buffer time! Leearning something new every day is great.

Amazing review Duade, and that Spot AF hint is something you don't find everywhere. You won a new subscriber!
Much appreciated!
Great job Duade! Best video out there on the R6II. Thanks so much!
Thanks Rick, I appreciate it. Cheers, Duade 👍
Great review! Your excitement really says good things about the camera👍👍
Nice work. I just rented the R6MKII and have 4 days on it and its 5 to -5 Fahrenheit here so no way I'm going to get that deep into this camera for the review lol. Great job
Thanks mate, how have you found it so far? Cheers, Duade
@@Duade Wicked little camera. Pretty much R7 full frame with a better sensor. If it had 32+ MP. I'd own it lol.
@@WILDALASKA Yep, totally agree, I always liked the 5d4 sensor. Cheers, Duade
man what an in depth awesome video in terms of birding/wildlifing. Clearly the best in RUclips Thanks Duade for this
Thanks, you are too kind, Cheers, Duade
By far the best review of this camera yet.
Thanks Vince, I appreciate the feedback, Cheers, Duade
Cheers, Duade
for sure but probably very expensive@@Duade
Thanks Erkki, that is good to know, I am going to try the Sony myself so I look forward to that. Cheers, Duade
Working toward one of these, I'm on a Rebel T6i right now so it should be a huge jump for my low light performance.
Hi Duane, the update to the autofocus seems to be a game changer for the rf 800/600 f11 lens for bif shots.
It sure does, Cheers, Duade 👍
Wow that chart at 17:38 😮I didn’t realise the R was that slow. Canon certainly listened to consumer feedback when designing the R6 MK II
Yes, they are improving with every camera that is for sure. Cheers, Duade 👍
Thanks Riccardo, the R6II really is a wonderful camera that can do it all, have fun with it. Cheers, Duade
Ive been on the fence about upgrading to Mirrorless but you have helped me decide.
Thank you for the great review. Helped me a lot with navigating options for switching to mirrorless...
Great video, thank you so much. So much work has clearly gone into it.
Thank you.
Thanks for the feedback Grant, great to know it was helpful. Yes, the current R6 is a very good camera, have fun with it. Cheers, Duade
Excellent review! Much appreciated as I'm someone who's in the market for a mirrorless camera. The raw files helped a ton. Subbed.
Jumped from an 80d to the r6ii .. it feels like magic.. even after 8 months of ownership.. I'm in awe everytime I use it
Such a great review! Here should be at least 1 mil of views.
Hi Duade, love your work and your videos, it is easy to follow with a lot of information and techniques in your videos. Keep it up and thanks
Thanks Calvin, I appreciate it. Cheers, Duade 👍
Thanks Rod, yes the R52 will be much better for Wildlife I suspect. I look forward to trying the Olympus combo myself.
Fantastic in-depth review & examples as always!💚📷

You are very hardworking. Great video. It looks like a great camera. I stick with my R5 for its 45 mp as I shoot bird/wildlife. Waiting for R1.
Thanks Kenneth, let's hope we don't have to wait too long, Cheers, Duade 👍
