  • Finally, FINALLY we have a video that's all about how to make crispy tofu, including a "naked" crispy tofu with no cornstarch and no breading, as well as a crispy tofu that is coated and shallow-fried. Consider this the best guide for crispy tofu, because we cover both of the ultimate ways to make it crispy, chewy and delicious. Both are AMAZING and both are a great blank canvas to work with.
If you're a tofu skeptic, this might convince you ;) Ingredients are below!
    BREADED CRISPY TOFU
Serves 2-4, depending on how hungry everyone is.
    Ingredients:
1 block (15 oz.) extra firm tofu
1/3 cup cornstarch or all-purpose flour
1 cup plant based milk of choice
    1 & 1/2 cups panko bread crumbs
Salt & pepper to taste (to season the bread crumbs)
Additional seasonings of choice (paprika, soy sauce, rice vinegar etc)
1/2 cup to 1 cup neutral frying oil like avocado, sunflower, canola or vegetable.
    NAKED TOFU
Makes 2-4 servings, depending on how hungry everyone is
    Ingredients:
1 block (15 oz.) extra firm tofu
2-3 tbsp olive oil for searing
    Serving sauces of choice!

This is a great series! Would you be interested in making a cookbook recommendation video? I’m curious to see more of your cookbooks and which are your favourites!

I've been experimenting with tofu for a while and somehow never thought to press it in pieces!!! Such a great tip, I'm excited to try. Plus the triangles are super cute.

Love this series! If you were to marinate the pan seared tofu would you marinate it before or after pressing?

I'm sure you are in the know but....freezing your tofu prior to pressing for that extra extra texture 😁
