goat saying "sometimes even the worst hell is here on earth" has the same energy as steve buscemi saying "do you think god stays in heaven because he, too, lives in fear of what he's created?"
It's kinda mindblowing, as a czech person, seeing a foreigner analyze this movie, because I never even noticed the numerous puns and cultural references, until I heardthe translated version. Par example, the word "kozy" aka "goats" are also a slang for boobs, so boobs are literally in the title. The three guys are the main characters of a popular fairytale "Velký, Široký a Bystrozraký" and the movie kind of pokes fun at them, the "northern popsticle" is a reference to the popsticle Polárka, which is also the word we use for the northern star Polaris. And there's so much more hidden in there that gets lost in translation. I'm not saying this as a defence of the movie, it's not good by any means and I remember having nightmares bc of it as a kid, it's just a wild realisation that some of the things like czech fairytales which are normal to me could be overlooked by a foreigner because they didn't grow up in the same enviroment. Great video, laughed a lot!
I was actually wondering this, I speak multiple languages and whenever I have to translate something, trying to translate puns and slang is tricky because you have to make it make sense in the other language. It’s cool to know this!

Klára Andoková I think that was mainly because it was the first computer animated movie from the Czech Republic, and it also underwent a pretty heavy marketing campaign. Although the studio lost $500,000 on it, so it must not have been that successful.

It's one of those moments when a phrase or banter don't translate well to a different language. The guys who is in charge of their YT channel is probably not really good in english, considering how the whole comment was constructed lol
Goat had to have at least one kid to even produce milk, and to keep good milk flowing you should breed them at least every 2 years. So Susie is 100% goats kid.
Okay, so I'll try to explain some things, since this movie doesn't make much sense for foreigners. The North star is called "Polárka" in czech and that's a really popular ice cream here, hence the fuckin' popsicle in the sky. Someone commented this on the first Goat movie that Kurtis made But they said that nudity and sexual scenes were pretty normal in Czech Republic. Even in children’s movies.
This is making me think of the difference between like, Coraline, and these movies … in Coraline a childrens movie there is a character with very large breasts and it is kind of a joke but she’s not really sexualized, it’s just … funny? And in general there’s lots of really absurdly proportioned people. But there’s no overt sex/motorboat jokes.
I just realized that both Jemmy and Katie have blue eyes which is a trait that Johnny shares. Susie has green eyes though, a trait seemingly only shared by Goat.... No wonder Katie and Jemmy didn't seem too upset when they thought Susie was dead. Their embarrassing crime against nature was about to be at an end.
@@pillager6376 No, they're wrong. Green eyes is a recessive gene, so it could be their kid, not Goat's. I don't know why people don't pay attention in school, you literally learn this in biology.
I just wanted to mention that the three guys (Tall, Broad and Sharp-eyed) are a popular kids tale in Czech Republic. The most popular version is that they help save a princess with a poor guy. It’s really weird in my opinion as a Czech girl but it also was one of my favorite tales when I was a kid. So it’s not a joke that they are named after what they look (or maybe it is who knows it’s way too old to know) it’s just a kids tale
I think it’s also a grimms fairy tale i forget what it was called and I’m pretty sure there were more guys than those three I also think the characters were a bit different. Tall may have been the same, broad would become bigger when he drank water being able to drink entire lakes, Sharp eye was “sharp eyed” in a literal sense whatever he looked at would split in two so he wore a blindfold, and I think there was also a guy who was colder the hotter it was and hotter the colder it was (I think he could also freeze and burn things) thats all I remember though.
12:15 “and since goat is a raging alcoholic the first place they go to is a bar to get more information on how to go to hell” that sentence was a fucking roller coaster💀
Actually, in medieval times, pubs in europe were like information hubs, bcs a lot of different people meet there. (You can see it also in Lord of the rings movies for example xD) So Its just not cuz he Is An alcoholic xD
Meanwhile, Dingo Pictures, the company responsible for movies like Wabuu, The Lion and the King, Dinosaur Adventure, etc. discovered Phelous' reviews and commentary on their stuff, and sent him plushies of some of the characters lmao. Attitude is everything, and Dingo gets points from me for that.
Admittedly, I think that he might have gotten those things from the people who BOUGHT Dingo Pictures, and not the original owners/creators of the movies.
fun fact in Czech the title is "kozí příběh se sýrem" which translates to goat story with cheese however kozy (goats) is also a slang word to say boobs therefore it could also be "boobie story with cheese"
"sometimes even the worst hell is here on earth" has the same energy as "do you think god stays in heaven because he too lives in fear of what he's created"
@@ArinJager1 The producer isn't different from the writers, it had two writers and the producer doesn't look that bad man, don't judge appearances so harshly.
this movie reminds me so much of an old story: "The Story of Harap-Alb". In that story, the main charachter meets a few guys: the tall man, who could strech a lot, the thirsty man, who could drink a lot of water, the hungry man, who was always hungry, and another guy who was blind but could also see at long distances. These two stories are so similar 😭😭
Hey Kurtis, Czech person here, just letting you know that the three guys “tall, broad and sharp-eyed” are based on an old czech tale. I don’t remember it very well and I guess that if I read it today it wouldn’t make much sense either but yeah, the writers didn’t make that up
From what I've seen in both movies it seems like a lot of characters and motifs are based on some old tales and legends. I'm not Czech, but I'm from Poland so the cultures are pretty close and it all seems very familiar and... Slavic :D Even if I don't know these stories they all have some specific "vibe" that I still can recognize. (Like the fact the Devil pops up here and there all the time.)
The most jarring thing to be found in this video for me personally was the response you got from AAA. Up until this point, I couldn't register that the last movie was made by actual existing people. I just assumed that some Ultron-esque AI spent 30-45 minutes on the web and figured the best way to destroy humanity was to crush our souls with the first one.
imagine being matthew, like you move to a new town to go to university, but everyone hates you for being poor so they make your plans stinky and then you make a deal with the devil, only to wind up playing mediocre music in a bar that’s frequented by an alcoholic goat and her orphaned children
also, one time the alcoholic goat comes into the bar asking how to reach the devil because supposedly he kidnapped people over cheese, and you (who actually made a deal with the devil) choose to ignore this only for the goat and the kids to go off with some other frequent patrons (who have mystical powers) who have no idea what they’re talking about
i have an oc with cataracts and "HAHAHH, HE CANT SEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE HAS CATARACTS 🥰" is how im going to make my other ocs interact with him 🥰
The popsicle makes sense only in Czech, because we have a very popular ice cream known as North Star (Polárka). Its just basic cheap vanilla ice cream, more water than cream, but its good nonetheless :D
The fact that they commented on your first video so defensively and tried to copyright claim it means that...they actually stand behind Goat Story. They actually think its a good film. They are actually proud of it, and the work they put into it. That film was a sincere try on their part. I have no words for that.
i used to study at an animation/vfx school in prague and we had the actual creator of goat story come in one day to talk to us about animation (as if he has any say). i also almost got kicked out of the school during finals when i was asked to describe the movie and i said it was "decent but grotesque" and i guess one of the guys on the judging board was friends with the director, he was PISSED. i really dont get it.
Frankly it doesn’t make any sense because American kids movies are less violent and less overtly sexual than this movie so who exactly was the scapegoat here. Did they just crack the code that adult movies have less “pg” content lol.
Just a quick explanation for the Tall, Broad and Sharp eyed trio; it's actually a quite popular 'childrens story' in Czech Republic that has these three as the main characters
And with American family/children's movies that stuff like... doesn't happen. There's violence but it tends to happen offscreen, and nobody ever gets their EYES PULLED OUT in G-rated films.
To be fair, they didn't say that their movie has no violence. And I mean, at least the burn out the eyes part is from the original source. To me it sounds more like they're (immaturely) talking about how Americans tend to make a huge fuss about "sexual" content (like...nipplegate, lmao) whilst definitely being relatively ok with violence (I'm not talking specifically about child stuff, although there's a LOT of gun related toys in the US). It IS something Europeans tend to find weird.
it actually creeps me out how they commented on the video before it was posted. maybe if RUclips can detect your content in someone else's video, it notifies you without it being public?
I think more companies and people would immediately comment on videos with their content though. Maybe they have a program or something that looks for videos with their content?
u know it can detect someone else's content if u have it in ur video and it gives u sm stat abt the thing that has a risk of being copyrighted..however I'm not sure if it will send a notif to the copyright owner..my mom made a video and when she was uploading there was some music she used and it was written below before uploading that the music or song had a risk of copyright...she uploaded it anyway and nothing happened so idk..but yeah it does recognise other people's content...
i mean i know it’s possible i once had to make a music video for a spanish class and i put it up unlisted so just me and my teacher could see it and somehow it got a copyright strike
Actually, I wanted to use a pink screen background for a thumbnail so I searched up pink screen on Microsoft edge, then in images I found a link to a video. When I clicked on it, it was unlisted
The fact that nobody is talking about Kurtis' beautiful remake of the Highschool Musical 2 song Work This Out by the legendary Zac Efron at 6:50 deeply disturbs me.
I finally have a theory for Goats voice. Aftee the hanging, goats voice slowly began to change due to the damage either the pipe in her throat did, the noose, or both. But hey, that's just a theory. A FILM THEORY
I will explain why there was a popsicle in the sky. that popsicle is called "Pólarka" in the Czech Republic, and we have the same name for the North Star. The popsicle and the North Star have the same name in the Czech Republic

Tall may have been the same, broad would become bigger when he drank water being able to drink entire lakes, Sharp eye was “sharp eyed” in a literal sense whatever he looked at would split in two so he wore a blindfold, and I think there was also a guy who was colder the hotter it was and hotter the colder it was (I think he could also freeze and burn things) thats all I remember though.

this movie reminds me so much of an old story: "The Story of Harap-Alb".

I was thinking the exact same thing!!
imagine being matthew, like you move to a new town to go to university, but everyone hates you for being poor so they make your plans stinky and then you make a deal with the devil, only to wind up playing mediocre music in a bar that’s frequented by an alcoholic goat and her orphaned children

@@broadex9080 *HE MAKIN’ IT GROOVY*
also, one time the alcoholic goat comes into the bar asking how to reach the devil because supposedly he kidnapped people over cheese, and you (who actually made a deal with the devil) choose to ignore this only for the goat and the kids to go off with some other frequent patrons (who have mystical powers) who have no idea what they’re talking about

The fact that they commented on your first video so defensively and tried to copyright claim it means that...they actually stand behind Goat Story. They actually think its a good film. They are actually proud of it, and the work they put into it. That film was a sincere try on their part. I have no words for that.

@@lycaptain Me too, I thought they were just screaming AHHHHHHH I can't believe they'd say that
Maybe they were thinking violence specifically with guns lmao.
