  • Testing Eevee's render performance with high demanding light and texture settings
    Hardware:
    i7-5820k @ 4Ghz
    GeForce GTX 1070 @ 2GHZ
    32GB Ram
    Project:
    Amount of texture files: 319
Total size of texture files: 786 MB
    Amount of verts: 1.069.520
    Light Sources: 11
    Animation:
    Frames 1400
    Render Settings:
    Initially rendered resolution: 1920x1080
    Eevee Samples: 64
    Denoising: Yes
    Overscan: 3%
    Shadows Cube Size: 1024
    Shadows Cascade Size: 2048
    High Bit: Yes
    Soft Shadows: Yes
    Screen Space: Yes (default values)
    AO: Yes (default values)
    Volumetrics: 0.1m - 50m
    Tile Size: 2px
    Volume Samples: 64
    Volumetric Lighting: Yes
    Volumetric Shadows: Yes (16 Samples)
    Blur: Yes (default values)
    Bloom: Yes (default values)
    Render Times:
    Total rendered time: 9h 30m
Median render time per frame: 40sec
Min render time per frame: 7sec
Max render time per frame: 2min
    Conclusion:
Eevee's performance is quite capable even with high demanding volumetric light scenes and should outperform cycles quite well in this kind of render environment.
However industry leading competitors (e.g. Unreal Engine) can provide almost visually similar images in Realtime (with additional preparations needed).
Also notable is the high deviation in render times. Hardware error can not be cut out as a possibility for that. So it should be advised to retake the test in a similar environment.

Saw your design in the ESUT magazine. Hope they gave you credit for it.
P.S.: Also it kinda reminds me of the Tiger tank from Battliefield 2142.

Some do, others don't. I always appreciate a good credit, however seeing that they chose my design as a representative for the MGCS is cool enough. Haha yes, i loved the Tiger from 2142 back in the days :D
