- Today I am working on a new 9 MM load. I am going to do plenty of testing because a I have a large quantity of these Seirra 115 grain JHP bullets that I am going to load. Thanks for watching please subscribe. For agriculture related content please check out my other channel. 10 cow ranch

Great video thanks for the information
Thanks for watching
I have shortened 9mm to better enable them to "turn the corner" to enter the chamber. I always use a Lee Factory Crimp die in a seperate step. Mine is a Beretta 92B. Love it.
This bullet does require a little shorter OAL Thanks for watching
I found the same thing in regards to oal. Had to seat them to a 1.03 oal length in order to function in all my guns . I cut the powder charge accordingly
After filming the video I made some changes to the load . 1.03 OAL same as you I cut the powder charge to 4.5 gr of TG. I will do a follow up video in a few days. I am surprised at the velocity. I think I am about 100 fps faster than expected. I have you seen the other channel?
I have seen some of the other channel 👍🏻
Seating deeper increases pressure a lot. I remember a old article saying pressure can double depending on how much deeper the bullet is seated
Thanks for supporting the other channel. Yes seating depth is definitely something we need to be thinking about. I am excited about these bullets. I hope I can get them dialed in. What is your best 9mm powder??@@vaughnpotter1462
Good aim! ✮✩✮
Thanks
Wish I could help ya but I shoot factory ammo! Happy new year!👍🏽😀❤️🇺🇸
Happy new year to you Jeff Thanks for your support
Greetings. Have you heard of the so-called 'plunk' test? With the barrel out of the pistol, drop a loaded round into the chamber. It should fall freely into the chamber. On a cartridge like the 9mm that headspaces on the mouth, it will hit with a plunk, hence the name. With the cartridge fully in the chamber, the case head should be a bit inside the end of the barrel hood. If it doesn't plunk, or fall in freely, there is a problem, whether it be too long cartridge OAL for the bullet profile/chamber shape combination, or insufficient sizing, or maybe even crud in the chamber. You are right, in a cartridge like the 9mm, with such a small powder chamber, even small differences in seating depth can make a big difference in pressure, especially with certain powders. The 9mm already operates at a fairly high pressure, so it is easy to exceed max pressures without much warning. I have noticed a wide range of case volumes in different brands of 9mm brass, and even in different lots of the same brand. The 9mm can be a little tricky to reload and get consistent results, like other small cases.
Yes I did the plunk test with the Taurus. I will posting a follow up video maybe tomorrow I hope with more success. Thanks for the great comment
