  • Today I shoot a FEG PPH 380 acp. This a Walther ppk clone. I have a new interest in this era of small pocket hand guns. This is a fun little gun. Thanks for watching Please subscribe. For ranch content check out my other channel 10 cow ranch

The guns are based on the Walther PP but parts are can not be swapped. The pistol was marketed under a wide variety of model names and labels. The PA- 63, PPH, AP9 Hege Waffen AP-66 and AP7.65 are some of these.. The most well know is the PA-63. The guns were designed to handle the 9mm Makarov originally, but were also manufactured in .380 acp and .32 acp. Most of the PA-63 pistols in the US are in the Makarov or 380 calibers. Being designed around the Makarov cartridge it is a beefed up design. The frame is an aluminum alloy containing a little titanium for extra strength. The one I have was marketed by Hege Waffen as the AP-66 and it is in 32 caliber. (They also marketed an Astra Constable under the same name.) Earlier, FEG marketed a PP copy called the Walam which is alleged to be part for part the same as the Walther PP. A smaller version of the gun was marketed as the SMC. It was PPK sized but due to the extra weight of it's solid back strap could still be imported into the US after 1968.

That gun almost looks like the 1950s futuristic streamline stuff. That era where people where obsessed with space but polished and air efficient was the style.
It would have absolutely no friends of a feather in my collection but I would own it in a heartbeat. Real slick and neat pistol.
The only .380 I’ve owned was an LCPII. One of only two pistols I’ve owned that I felt like it wasn’t my fault that the accuracy was subpar. Traded it for something. With you having a fixed barrel I am really surprised you weren’t driving nails with that thing.

I am still interested in some more ammo testing. I have heard some of the barrels can be a little over sized. I think I am going to slug the barrel to check it. Thanks for watching

Interesting design but if you’re looking for a 380 striker fired with good trigger look at the Sig P365-380 and consider swapping for a P365XL grip frame (12 round flush mag, easier to hold onto). Mine shoots really well. No issues on ammo but some people have reported ejection issues (weak ammo, dirty chamber?).

You need to check how far you are going to have to pull your pants leg up to draw that out of a boot. Also, with that being blued, sweat might rust it pretty easily. Nice hand gun. Seems to be closer in size to a Walther PP, than a PPK.

I agree with you on the size comparison I am going to do some work with the boot holster idea. Thanks for watching

I run into a similar problem with a European pistol and found a small manufacturer here locally in Tennessee that it really likes. I couldn’t get a group smaller than 3.5”-4” with most ammo I tried. It liked the Winchester White Box, 95gr flat nose FMJ ok but with this local brand called “Tennessee Cartridge” 100gr round nose FMJ I get 2”-2.5” groups @ 21’, bench resting of course. Only thing is, if I’m gonna carry it I do NOT want round nose FMJ. Most JHP is .380 falls to open so I prefer to use flat nose. Why pay the premium for any hollow point defensive rounds if they aren’t going to work? It’s only an up close and “get off me” pistol anyway. It’s more of a “sentimental” pistol also, so I’m a bit concerned about if I ever needed to use it I would have to endure them taking it “as evidence” and making it a pain in the rear to get it back! (ask me how I know about THAT, lol)

For the small bore handguns I like the underwood ammo. You might like my 32 acp beretta tomcat video

I think James Bond would approve. 🤣 I can't relate to your 25 yd accuracy expectations but it sure is a dandy looking little piece.
Did you ever find a set of grips for your 629?
