As of September 13, 2022, the world record for the longest rifle shot with a .22 long rifle is 7,774 yards, or 4.4 miles, set by a team of long-range shooting experts in Wyoming. The team, led by Scott Austin and Shepard Humphries of Nomad Rifleman, a shooting range and instruction center in Jackson Hole, had been preparing for the shot since 2020, when Austin and Humphries set the Wyoming state record of 3.06 miles. The bullet took about 24 seconds to hit an 8-inch bullseye target, and spotters heard the impact after it pierced the metal target.

We use to regularly take pot shots at crab apples hanging off the trees from 2-300 yards on our old farm. At the time I was doing it with a clapped out Marlin Model 60 and bulk Remington Golden bullets. I've since replaced worn parts in the ole Marlin, deep cleaned the bore, and that damned thing is a tack driver still to this day with good ole CCI standard velocity 40gr round nose. Since then I've restored a few more ole Marlin Micro Groove rifles and built a good ole 10/22. I honestly think the 10/22 would be a great end of days type rifle to take on your bug out, put a can on it, none the wiser when hunting or dispatching targets.

I tried to get the ballistic scale on a Ruger American 22 figured out so i could shoot from point blank(25 yards) out to 200 yards. The arch variance was too great to really do it. The CCI stinger was the closest, flattest to doing it because of it's speed. I gave up on it and did it with a 22 mag. It would do it out to about 225 yards point of aim on a sitting jack rabbit. Aiming about 1/3 of the way up it's belly from the ground.

22lr silhouette shoots I do have 10 targets each at 80, 120, 160, and 200 yds. 200yd targets are about the size of a man's hand, 1/4" steel plate, and must fall to count as a hit. We do it all day. Hit% varies by gun, shooter, wind, etc obviously, but we were all over 50% and most over 70% on moderately windy days. These were nicer rifles than a 10/22 of course. Maybe I'll take mine out there next time to see how it does. Maybe my old click-clack/gill gun too.

I mounted a monstrum 3x prism with a 25 yard zero and can make steel ring at 225 yards on a human silhouette target with it granted its a super high hold over but non the less you can get those reps in even at extended range.

Sorry to tell you but Iraqveteran, and 22 Plinkster hit at 400 & 500 yards. Even worse news is a guy in Australia hit at 975 yards (however that one might have been 22mag, I can’t remember).

Sorry Chadd, not even close, 22plinkster did 700 yards. Hit smaller steel 3 times and took out a coke can at that distance. So you need to move back 3x and up your game a little. But that stock is awesome.
