The grips on your 586 are beautiful. My 357 is a Smith model 27. Enjoy your videos.

I've never been a big 357guy. The most over rated "magnum" of ever. however, I do believe in YOUR right to carry one. Nice video badlands. Happy training

Thanks for the comment Ryan I don't even own any 357 mag ammo. If I want something effective in the field it will be a 44 or 45. The 38 special is a great training tool. I think a smooth trigger pull depends partly on strength. I do a few sets of 20 dry fire trigger pulls a few times a week to build strength.

I have a 686 Talo edition with the 7 inch barrel. I love it. Very accurate.
Also those S&W grips are going to shock you when you see the price. They start at $250 and go up!!

My dad’s had his 6” 586 for 42 years. It’s still in really nice shape and is our load development mule.
I despise finger groove grips of any kind. They position my hand too low and I don’t think they’re ideal for double action. I also think they accentuate recoil on hard kicking guns.

@@chrisevansgunshorsesranchi699 I’d love to be able to recommend Herrett’s Ropers or Shooting Masters, but their stock maker passed away last year and they’re not taking custom orders at this time. I do like Eagle Grips Heritage. They’re a close copy of the old S&W Coke bottle stocks. You can get them plain or checkered.

I come from the Ruger 45 Colt side of things. I have the factory grips on my old square butt Redhawk. Wood side panel like that with the exposed steel grip frame. I have a pet load that I developed that pushes a 255gr hard cast SWC at 1350fps. I’d say thats about the line for me were I can shoot fifty or so rounds and not be hating it. My 250 XTPs at 1450 aren’t very fun at all. Love the look of the grip too much to mess with it.
At the end of the day, I’d rather shoot that stuff out of my Blackhawks so the muzzle flip eats a lot of the recoil even if they are significantly lighter.
I make it a rule not to touch the hammer on my double actions. Great video. Glad I subscribed. Enjoyed the expectations video on the other channel.

Thank you for the great comment I too enjoy a good single action. I prefer the Bisley for the hard recoil loads. I really appreciate your comment on the expectations video. That was a mile out of my comfort zone. My 4 adult children watched it and they encouraged me to post it. My youngest daughter (21) wants me to do a series of videos similar to this. Being a good citizen type content. I would like you option on that idea. Thanks for supporting both channels

@@chrisevansgunshorsesranchi699 I’m about a month away from being 28. That video was exactly how I’ve been steering for the last two or so years. I had many people in my life that were taking advantage of my kindness and one day asked myself “If my friendship is unconditional, isn’t it by definition worthless?” Really filtered out who was around me and I started working on myself, too. I’m in a much better place than I was then. Still a long way to climb.
I would absolutely recommend doing more content like that. There are so many people my age and especially younger that have absolutely no direction in life and seemingly no structure of morals guiding them. I am one of the few people I grew up with whose parents weren’t divorced. Younger men really need good male role models. One of the reasons Jordan Peterson got so big.

Well I am one jealous revolver guy. The 586 has been on my must have list for years. As far as the grips go I'm not sure if this type of finger groove grip was made for your N-Frame 629. But Altamont does make a very similar grip for square and round but N-Frame revolvers.

@@chrisevansgunshorsesranchi699I would have to say that it would be a different type of recoil. Smith grips are sometimes a bit on the narrow side and therefore put seemingly more pressure in a smaller hand area. Does your 629 have wood or rubber grips now?

@@chrisevansgunshorsesranchi699I had this explained to me by a gunsmith who built guns for PPC which I believe is all done double action. He said that CCI primers were harder to ignite, and in double action most revolvers don't hit the primers as hard as they do in single action. Look at where the hammer is when cocked in single action, the watch how far back it goes when cycled in double action and you'll see the difference.
