I literally cried watching this! Long live Frank Sinatra! I love his music, and I will never forget all about his career of a singer and actor. I love you Sinatra! ❤❤
I remember the controversy when he got cut off before the end of his speech. Billy Joel, Gary Shandling and Elton John all made mention of it during the show.
I remember that they played him off with music to go to a commercial break. Billy Joel was up after the break and instead of playing right away, dinged the producers about cutting Sinatra off and repeated “valuable advertising time” over and over for about 30 seconds or more before performing.
I remember this, but he didn't do it before he started playing. He did it while performing "River of Dreams". When he reached the break at the end of the final bridge, after the line "Baptized by the fire, I wade into the river that runs to the promised land" The song normally pauses for a few seconds, but he let it go for a few more, then made those comments. It was a great kick in the nuts to the producers. Wish I could find the video of it. Edit: Found it... It's at 2:29 ruclips.net/video/oPCx0lO1f_w/видео.htmlsi=_9uDTzq0EearVFL0
@@blown22 Thanks for the details and finding the video of it. It’s been a long time and I just didn’t remember the exact sequence off the top of my head. I noticed that the clip of Frank didn’t show the underscore to over score play off. Think they’re trying to keep the memory of that stupidity in the closet?
@brettmccloskey6792 You're quite welcome. And that whole show was a clusterf... U2 won for Best Alternative (!) Album (Zooropa), which was farcical - no way U2 could have been considered Alternative by '94. And Bono closed his acceptance speech with his infamous "...fuck with the mainstream" comment. This after saying Smashing Pumpkins should have won (for MCatIS). After that Bono came back on stage to introduce Frank, and the audience gasped when he said.. COCKsure. Lol Frank started off his acceptance by saying Bono's was the best introduction he'd ever heard. Gary Shandling (host) had quite the night to deal with. Lol
It's to bad all his pals were not there to share that honor with him. He was such a kind man. He helped so many people privately,he never wasted recognition. It was said that when one of his cronies had a baby, he'd put quite a bit of money in a trust fund for college, and the baby was just born. When Sammy Davis Jr died Frank paid the entire hospital bill becaus Sammy had little to no money, and didn't want his wife to worry. When Judy Garland die he and Bing Crosby paid for the funeral,as Judy died broke and Liza had just began working and Lorna and Joey were quite young still. He was just a kind soul.
Liza turned down Frank's funeral offer, but also didn't pay it herself, although by 1969 she was a big earner. Judy's body was stored in an office cabinet at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY for a year, unburied, until a tabloid broke the story. Judy was then put in a marble niche. It has never been revealed who paid for it. More recently, she was moved to Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
Long live Frank Sinatra. He was teary-eyed when accepting his Grammy Legend Award. He hit his grand slam that night
❤

Grande!! ❤
i can't believe that i haven't noticed that Frank wore a toupée until now.
He wore it from 1954 onward he lost his hair after his divorce from Ava
Yeah, that's why he originally started wearing those miller hats.
I can't believe nobody in his life told him he should get a better one than this.
Arguably one of the top 3 greatest singers of all time, along with Elvis and Michael Jackson
And Dean Martin
Respect you, Granpa ❤❤❤
What a class act, the VOICE❤❤❤ himself!!!
Frank’s chrome wig was superb….
I love the way he talks is just the same voice as when he sings can’t say that with some of the modern singers
❤❤❤
Poor Frank, who advised that awful hairpiece? Anyway, you were so sweet and humble, grateful. 😮We should be grateful.❤
He had heart!
Still unique. Always the best male voice on earth.
The best singer of all time. No one else comes close.
So a legend

He was already 79 at the time of this recording. Most people at the time barely lived past 63.
Not that young.
Barely lived past 63?
