According to James Bacon's book Made In Hollywood, Don was making a name for himself around the night clubs circuit as the master of insult, suddenly it became fashionable to be roasted by him. Then one night Sinatra appeared, up to that day they had never met. He kept creaming everybody in the room but never even addressed Frank's presence, as if he was invisible. Then, in what became a very tense moment, Don approached Frank's table, looked at him and asked "Remember when you used to have a voice, Frank ?" Sinatra's jaw dropped to the table, then he exploded laughing, as did everybody else there. Since then they became long life friends.

From Sinatra and Rickles to Dean Martin, Ernest Borgnine, Jack Klugman, Johnny Carson, etc. Look at the talent on that one episode of the Tonight Show. Kids today don't understand how legends entered the homes of millions of Americans on a nightly basis. How Black's, White's, Asians, Hispanics, and other groups all laughed together and loved each other's top comics, musicians, and television shows. Americans came home from work and were able to forget the problems of the world. Simpler times when the people came first, when uneducated people could land a job that paid well and stay for 20-30 years for retirement, when banks treated you like a VIP member, when political differences were put aside for the better of American Citizens, and when Comedy like this brought us all together, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, or religion. Tears were only temporary, while laughter and harmony created everlasting memories. We truly were THE UNITED STATES.

That ketchup story is hilarious too 😂 Apparently Frank throwed the ketchup to the wall he expolded on sum such again might be paparazzies - without even looking Don asked hey Frank could you pass the ketchup - and got him rolling laughing.. 😂
Thats why Frank loved him. Don made him laugh like no one else. That is why he was safe and could troll him and the mob like he did 😊
Bless them both, man Don was / IS a legend! So damn fast and witty!

    5:46 -
“I have relatives living in Jersey…”
“Not for long.” (Look closely at Don’s reaction)😆
I truly miss those days of comedy, when everyone had a sense of humor and got the jokes instead of being offended by them.

As a kid I enjoyed whenever Rick was showed up on a sitcom or on a variety show, he would crack me up because nothing is funnier than putting putting people down, he was the king and Frank and his Entourage of friends loved him for it because hemade them laugh at themselves, rest in peace Frank, Rick and Johnny🎉

If you didn't cross him, you were pals for life. Cross Frank, and that was it. John F Kennedy made the mistake of disrespecting Frank. Promised to fly his chopper to his home in Palm Springs. Frank built a helo pad with an American flag on a pole. Had lots of guests waiting. JFK stiffed him. So Frank took an axe and chopped down the flag pole, he was so mad.
