This isn't from 1980, it's from December 15, 1986, and a charity concert for Carnegie Hall. It wasn't a Sinatra concert, but he was a guest performer on a programme that otherwise included Wagner, Bach and Mahler! Sinatra looks good considering he was fresh out of hospital after having part of his intestine removed just six weeks earlier! According to the New York Times, Sinatra said: ''I'm delighted that I can appear at Carnegie Hall. No matter where I go, when I step out on that stage I feel like I've come back home again. I'm especially pleased that I can join so many illustrious artists in celebrating this grand reopening. I love Carnegie Hall. May it stand on the corner of 57th Street and Seventh Avenue through eternity.''
Absolutely correct. The surgery took something out of Sinatra. Shortly thereafter, he started to take pregnazone which puffed him out considerable. He lost strength after that, and one can certainly hear and see that in the concerts from 1987 to the end.
Later that 1980. Socko performance. However Vincent Falcone at piano- not Bill Miller as was written down on the lyrics Frank was reading… but whatever. It’s quite a great performance. Band is aces.
So Ella did show people free-styling was alright 🤷🏾♂️😂😂..* ps there is no way I would have been sitting down during that performance 🕺🏾💃🏽 me & the Mrs @ Carnegie 💯
the old mans fave sinatra song..[god bless dad] i always thought naievely it was about a wiseguy cutting people up .but the old fella said it was agerman old song about a german sailor on shoreleave..

After the surgery, he lost some strength that was never regained.
watched it last nite on Detroit PBS enjoyed all the music.
Memorable this concert!
AMAZING performance...thanks so VERY much for posting this GEM! :-)
Frank and Johnny Cash My idols since childhood.
I think there was never a soul on earth, including Frank, who knew what this song was about and what it meant. But it didn't matter, people loved it.
Jack the ripper?
@@user_-qg6yd True, there was a knife in the song... but no.
Was from a German opera
He is on fire here.

Someone already said it…this isn’t 1980. He hadn’t even recorded this song yet.
I didn't see Vinnie Bells wild gyrations. Where are they?
That's why I came here too
Sinatra swinging baby
Sinatra as you see..never took this song serious...just had some fun with it....and he always did a good job of it..for the audience.

@SylvesterBreit this must not be in 1980, must be 86, since Billi Miller is conducting and Frank is looking a bit older than in 1980.

@chrisjb65 Right! Definitely NOT 1980

It hurts to hear his singing at this stage of his career. He was the entertainer of the 20th century.
Bobby Darin once said, " When my career is done, you won't know who Frank Sinatra is."
REALLY
