Frank really hits one out of the park here - tremendous brilliant vocal performance - delivery, timing, passion - the man had it all and I also enjoyed the comedic interplay between Jack and Frank - and I like how Jack calls him "Frankie" -- RIP Guys
You noticed, perfection can be improved upon or stated differently. Most are oblivious. "Phrasing/schmasing" is a common retort amongst the unenlightened.
Likely just brought in at the freight entrance, hoisted up and lowered by wires. The rotor sound is a recording-- you can hear it's of a rotor moving much faster than the slowly turning one you see here.
Ya, you're right. It doesn't cross over anymore even if a parent influences their kids a bit about it. It's too diluted now. My parents grew up when Frank was very young, singing to Bobbie Socks teens. Hard to believe Frank was a teen idol at one point.
The passing of Frank Sinatra left a void in the world of musical entertainment. He is not easily forgotten and we are the less without him. This great song befits our memory of him.
During television's golden age... when NBC was at Sunset & Vine & Wallich's Music City & Sy Devore's was across the street... I was a young boy & recall it well
I derive enormous joy and emotion from his singing for over 60!!years. Never tire of his voice, interpretations ,phrasing and the whole presentaion of a song. He was touched by God. He carried enormous artistry and charm. Magical.
These men were legends at horsing around. I was VERY impressed by the way the helicopter was lit so pretty during Sinatra's song. I imagine him saying, "Hey, Clyde! Anyway we can make thing look kinda romantic? I'm singin' Cole Porter, for Pete's sake!" Historical note: the two films Sinatra mentions were notorious flops which Sinatra ("The Kissing Bandit") and Benny ("The Horn Blows at Midnight") were in.
No one sings like these guys did. No gimmicks, just talent and years of experience. Just look at what Sinatra does here - his voice is silk flowing from each song phrase to the next, his phrasing is impeccable and wonderful, and his acting ability enters into it all, too! These guys could just relax and perform. They knew their talent and audience so well Benny knew his way of comedic acting backwards and forwards, knew how an audience would react, and could just be relaxed in his talent. I love watching performers and actors whose talent can just flow and be there, so different from from young performers who are raring to get there and full of new energy, trying things out. A big Dinah Shore kiss to everyone. Sometimes life is worth all the pain we go through . Sometimes it’s really good! 🌷🌱
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face ,,,
25 years today that you left us but you are still alive in our hearts ❤ and with your music .Love you forever the best voice and class .I want to live in those years .💜
I am blessed to be able to grow up in such an era to see and hear everything such as this and to be gifted in such a way to live the dream. We Love You Frank!
Jack Benny's 20th Anniversary TV Special Broadcast Date: November, 16 1970 Frank was 54 in this broadcast and would turn 55 a month later on December 12th.
By a weird coincidence, this is the exact date he did his Royal Festival Hall concerts, two in one evening, the second of which was televised on BBC. Of course they were for charity and Frank even paid £1100 for 22 extra seats for his friends. What a guy. There's no doubt in my mind that this is the best concert I've ever seen, by anyone.
@@SuperFerdie1965 That _is_ quite a coincidence about the date. Thank you for sharing your feedback about Frank's Royal Festival Hall concert in 1970. I've not seen it, but I just found I can stream it from Amazon.com for $3.99 USD. Based on your review, I'll have to watch it. I also enjoyed the fact about Frank paying £1100 for 22 extra seats for his friends. Aside from being immensely talented, he was exceedingly generous. I wish I could have seen him in concert. It's neat that you share his name.
Frank in fine form here. This is Neal Hefti's band arrangement recorded in '62. I prefer Frank's original '55 combo version in the great Swing Easy/Young Lovers LP.
I finally worked it out that Frank enhanced the orchestra, not the other way round. He was so on top of the wave that the notes would dance, he made the music stand out and be something, like a master magician.
A PAST image from America today of course. We'll NEVER see that again, no way! A pity at all, no words for that........... Greatest regrets indeed...... BRAVO! Merci beaucoup! From a french friend! Emmanuel from Paris
Rich RT Everyone seemed to find that joke so funny that I wondered if there was anything especially significant about it? Maybe a topical reference to some recent event of the time (1970)?
Turn on subtitles at 4:34, it is easier to hear the words than most other singers but subtitles says he is saying: "ah yep no chicken plane" when it is clearly (if you know the lyrics or not) "I get no kick in a plane".
Cette classe, ce swing, et il fait ce qu'il veut avec la mise en place de base, il retombe toujours dans le groove ! Inimitable, innégalé jusqu'à aujourd'hui ! 👍👍👏👏👏
I was lucky to see him live four times over the years. The best was at the old Chicago Stadium where he sang for almost two hors straight. RIP OLE BLUE EYES.
3:11 - I love how he sings and lets the music follow, pure talent. This modern "Mo Bamba" nonsense just saddens me. Today there are good singers such as the likes of Sal Valentinetti but as Bing Crosby said, "Frank (Frank Sinatra) is a singer who comes along once in a lifetime, but why did he have to come in mine?"
He started to kid with his lyrics and notes after his pallie Dino Martin taught him how to ;) . Since then, Frankie had so much fun adding some wit remarks in the middle of his songs and playing with words :)

No matter how he shifts the phrasing around he is miles better than anyone else.
You noticed, perfection can be improved upon or stated differently. Most are oblivious. "Phrasing/schmasing" is a common retort amongst the unenlightened.
Lovely comment jj mac frank was the best of the best by miles
Nothing is the best than blue eyes ❤
How did that helicopter get in the building?
Likely just brought in at the freight entrance, hoisted up and lowered by wires. The rotor sound is a recording-- you can hear it's of a rotor moving much faster than the slowly turning one you see here.
Thank God in Heaven that we were born in this time.
You're right, life without Frank's music and supreme artistry would be unimaginable.
Ya, you're right. It doesn't cross over anymore even if a parent influences their kids a bit about it. It's too diluted now. My parents grew up when Frank was very young, singing to Bobbie Socks teens. Hard to believe Frank was a teen idol at one point.

Frank is music. Forever
Cole Porter!
he did in 1998 bro
Jack Benny and Frank Sinatra were the best❤
We will never see the likes of these two entertainers ever again. Great men both of them and you can see the mutual love they shared for each other.
During television's golden age... when NBC was at Sunset & Vine & Wallich's Music City & Sy Devore's was across the street... I was a young boy & recall it well

Will NEVER see the likes of Francis Albert again!! He was simply the best at what he did, by far!!
My Favorite is The One And Only Dean Martin By Far !!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I am such a fan of Dean Martin. I love Frank, and he had such vocal control and great style... But Dean was the epitome of cool.
I like that Jack Benny calls him Frankie. As big a star as Frank was, he respected Jack Benny, and deservedly so.
He was so young there love Frank grew up listening to him. My father’s idol ❤❤
Same, same!
Born 1987 and love ol blue eyes what a legend
Frank could do comedy, drama, and, ofcourse, sing & dance.
He was amazing. And such charm & charisma❗♪♪🎯♪♪🎯✔
Nothing is better than Frank in a good mood!
So impressive. It’s amazing how when he gets “warmed” up, he hits another gear. The best ever.
THE VOICE RULES!
I grew up with his music. This was a family favorite! My dad and I always danced to all of his songs
Only one Frank Sinatra till eternity ❤️
The best days if entertainment & television. Never to be seen again, sadly.
The best vocalist ever to live...nobody comes close
Frank was the songs that he sang.
He's at his best age here, and it only got better.
ahh..no it didnt
Yes it fucking did!!!
So, not his best.

Always perfect timing 👌 with the rhythm 🎵, nobody can't match like him
You could almost see the look on his face about mid-song when his voice got warmed up and hit "that gear." He really kicked it in then. Stunning.
