How about how limber Danny Thomas was? He was outdancing Dean and Frank when they first got started! All of the songs were beautiful, everyone was in top form, "The Voice" was wonderful, Dean makes it look so easy, and what a wonderful rare occasion to see Danny Thomas singing with them. Gotta admit though, Danny and Dean's duet of "Tammy" is my favorite with "All the Way" being a close second. Back when we had true talent and class performing on television. I wasn't even alive for this show! ❤️💕❤️
What a GEM!! This is fantastic, love seeing Danny Thomas, not as many clips of him around. Sinatra was definitely "the Voice". However, Dean Martin is my first crush; Dean had a way of making it seem so easy and smooth, Mir. Cool. Love Danny Thomas and Dean Martin singing "Tammy" ... this song holds a special place in my heart. ❤❤💓
I know Im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me!
@Van Marley I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
(guest) I remember these songs from when I was a little kid... they have such strong melodies : gorgeous. These were popular songs.....but imho, the general standards started dropping after that time... gradually descending into banality : forgettable , weak efforts, always with the annoying, predictable " beat"..... It's so nice still to be able to see the skill of Dean, Frank, & co., to remind us of real music ... Many thanks to You Tube , etc., for keeping these gems available for us to savour, in the presence of such a !ot of modern cr*p !. 😊🎼🇬🇧😊🎹🎼😊💙🌹🇬🇧🎼
I so much wish I could argue with you that you are wrong, but I’m afraid that with the advent of computers it’s sadly true that no-one has to even be able to sing in tune anymore, or carry a melody because their ‘talent’ (or lack of it) can be fixed with the click of a mouse. On the other hand, without You tube we would be denied these glimpses into the true talent of the long-gone Golden Age of real music. So I do have rather mixed feelings about modern technology... I would also like to give credit to the wonderful songwriters of that time, who wrote such beautiful lyrics in what was often a second language for them, as so many were immigrants whose families had gone to America to escape religious or political persecution in their own countries.
On his tv sitcom Make Room for Daddy, he played a nightclub entertainer who sang and told jokes. His "schnozz" ample nose, as with some other singers like Barbra Streisand, seems to have added sonority, been a singer asset. And any singer who well emotes a song goes far to put it over, whatever their voice quality.
@@akrenwinkle Hmm, actually a good example of how the acoustics of that large "calabash" nasal chamber (like a good bass horn or woodwind instrument) did justice to his tagline "Good Night, Missus Calabash ... wherever you are!" P.S. re the sonority of other Italian male singers like Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Mario Lanza, Bobby Darin, Bobby Rydell and more. An orchestra, and our musical soundscape, is enriched by a diapaison of different sounds, solo and/or interacting with harmony (or studied dissonance).
@@JudgeJulieLit For one thing, Dean had a nose job, removing a big chunk of his awning. His success came afterward. For another thing, although I'm an Old, I fantasize we're in The Little Rascals, you're the professor writing on the blackboard, and I throw a spitball at you. Sorry, not sorry... you're a real pedant, unless you're kidding around.

Danny Thomas had such a sweet voice. Music back then was real music...melodies you could hum. Singers could actually sing! Not a fan of Sinatra but Dean and Danny are wonderful.
Sinatra did an absolutely wonderful version of Our love affair here. But Dean is my unbeatable forever.Danny and Dean did Debbie proud with this duet.Beautiful harmony♥
Class ! Class ! Class ! Now all we have is hip hop (which isn't even music) ! Never again. But the younger generation doesn't get it so it really doesn't matter anymore !
Agreed! I always loved Dean & Danny together, and thought they had particularly good chemistry -- maybe because they were both immigrant sons from the "sticks" of Ohio . . . . such a great clip that I shall always love watching!
Also, I always thought Danny Thomas was underrated as a singer. He certainly wasn't as great as Frank (who was?!) or Dean, for that matter -- but he was pretty darn good, and was never recognized as such. (In fact, I doubt few today would remember him but for the St. Jude Children's Hospital -- which, of course, is perhaps more important than any showbiz accomplishment . . . .)
Did Frank ever record "An Affair to Remember"? I know Vic Damone had a hit with it, but Sinatra should have made a record if he didn't. Danny Thomas sounded nice on "Sayonara," too. Interestingly, Dean Martin sang "Three Coins in the Fountain" at the Oscars in 1955, but I'm not certain if he also sang "All the Way" at the '58 ceremony or Sinatra did it.
Needles to say OSCAR wasn't quite ready for Rock N Roll yet and jailhouse Rock didn't get nominated. All the Way did and of course won from the very under rated movie the Joker is Wild.
Did you ever notice that back in this day the stars were actually talented?
Yes! No gimmicks. No freaky clothes or hair styles. Pants pulled up. Pure talent compared to anything today or ever!
Memories are made of this.. They’ll always be remembered.
Class *never* goes out of style, for those whom have it.
* who
The 1958 nominations were for 1957 films and "All the Way" won. Songs were so much more musical then, before the beat took over.
Seeing Sinatra and Dean dance to rock and roll just blew my mind.. specially Sinatra!

Oh my God.. these songs. Bring back memories of my mom.. And Tammy.. I still cry every time I hear it..
Me too. I find myself frequently watching the video from the film with Debbie Reynolds singing. It is truly a heartstrings puller. ❤️
What an incredible piece of film!!

Oh my , just wonderful talent , never will be seen again xx
Not in the new woke Amerika, where all seen here would have been condemned as "racists".

Prime Frank and Dean. Sinatra sounds great here and All The Way....won.
Thank you so much for providing these entertainers! Enjoyed!
These cats made it look easy, but only cool cats can do that.
That was really good and Danny Thomas sang surprisingly well and the ending was so cool.

@@JudgeJulieLit A large honker can make a voice beautiful, as with Jimmy Durante. Okay, bad example...

The way they sing all these songs live and unedited, going in and out of talking and singing. Such genuine talent!
and smoking
Amazing I get to see these great sing the song that was in the movies the year I was born and it is 2019 I love RUclips.
The duet was amazing!!

Great stuff- legendary icons having a great time , Sinatra’s definitely ‘The Voice’ here- in his absolute prime, God that man could sing!
Nothing close to 1944 Old Man River
Dean Martin sung 3 coin in a fountain when it won the Oscar. I know Frank sung in in the movie but I really like Dean version of if better.
Some good Yankee songs
Amazing.
Elvis's favorite singer was Dean Martin.
And Dean Martin is my Favorite Male Singer.
And Doris Day is my Favorite Female Singer.
When talent was Talent, three of the best.
This was the best time to be alive music dress cars music family life clean inicent times
Wow its seems effortless , how these entertainers put todays cleb's to shame.
It's surprising how much vocal timbre Sinatra lost between his years with Dorsey when he was at his best, and 1958. It is really noticeable.

I wonder if that girl dancing with Frank is still with us
They will, give them time!

This is just so beautiful... and it isn't even my generation. I was born 2 years after this show but damn they had class and talent.
Geniales.
Боже мой,какая прелесть.
Love the two cats digging Frank on the back row
Love The Jailhouse Rock bit! Funny as hell! Really choice songs of bygone days.
Legendary
Needles to say OSCAR wasn't quite ready for Rock N Roll yet and jailhouse Rock didn't get nominated. All the Way did and of course won from the very under rated movie the Joker is Wild.
Where was Sammy Davis

The girl dancing with frank must be in heaven
Do these 3 guys leave today's "entertainers" for dead or whatttttt ???
