The reason why it’s funny it’s because well explaining that the two people are hidden behind the trees he says that the chorus starts playing, he says that nobody knows why signifying that and not the musicians not the composer not even the actors, this is because Mozart was the only one that knew why and that very moment the chorus was playing but for the people remaking the scene, they were just doing what was on the script. So when he says that Mozart is the only one that knows what was going on but he’s dead it’s just a matter of fact joke and there is no punchline, it’s just unexpected

No matter how many times you watch this, it NEVER looses ANY of its original "flavour," simply because Victor was a Master of Comedy, in addition to being a brilliant, talented pianist who could play anything. There was NO ONE to compare with Victor when he was alive, and there's undoubtedly been NO ONE since !

He was a concert level pianist, but we only get to hear tiny bits of his virtuosity. The pity always is that he didn’t play more… but had he done so we would have been deprived of these classic and delightful skits. What a gift he was to America and the world.

What can one say about Victor Borge that hasn't already been said. Over many, many years I've kept my collection of Victor Borge recordings, VHS tapes, now CDs etc. Mr Borge has always been there for me whenever I feel down or a little blue... he always reminds me that this is what real entertainment is all about; well-practiced but always seeming fresh and immediate.
Never a swear word or risqué dialogue; just pure talent for comedy, talent in timing and scripting. Above all of that Mr Borge was a true musical genius. He could make one cry with laughter or induce the most sentimental of tears when he occasionally, played some of his 'serious' material. Thanks to uploads from people like you, Mr Borge will be around for countless generations and be enjoyed and admired for a lifetime of making people laugh and be happy. Thank you. BH

He was too nervous to play serious recitals, that's why he can't be a serious concert pianist. He find comedic pianist more comfortable, it suits him better
But he still practise many hours a day, which gives him great technique and sound touch

I live in North Queensland and so far no Covid19 locally .although 2 Seamen were taken off a Cargo Ship with it while the Ship was still at sea just off our Port of Townsville so we will have to see how that goes. I do enjoy the cutting edge humor of Victor Borge it's a pity we no longer have him. The way the world is now friends should be treasured if I can brighten your day I am happy to do so.

Victor Borge has always been one of my favorite pianists and humorists. He has always had a rather unique outlook on life. He was probably the one person who could seriously get me to listen to classical music as well as opera, since he was hilarious and was entertaining to those of us who didn't really understand what all went into what we were listening to.
I'm so sorry that he's gone.

I fully understand your admiration for this unique entertainer---who wouldn't be? but what intrigue's me is your following interest into Classical music. Victors comedic snippets down play the seriousness that diehard fans usually get snobbish about. I think his audiences flocked to see him bring down and mock operas and the classics.
