Victor borge and Andre previn brought classical music to the masses and are to applauded for doing so. Rest in peace Andre and victor goodnight god bless. You both will be always remembered . From Michael from Yorkshire and proud of it.
I cannot believe I only discovered him 17 years after his passing. What a great musician and comedian. No need for tired cultural references or filthy language, just universal comedic talent mixed with remarkable musical talent. What a gem of a man.
My Grandma spent a good portion of her younger life catering. She had the privilege of serving Borge’s table once. She spilled salad dressing on his suit (: She said he just smiled at her. One of her most embarrassing moments, and best stories :)
Wow. What an amazing story. That just goes to show how good of a person he was :-) but I connected but that resonated with me as my grandma was also the caterer and had her own catering business. During Bill Clintons reign, she used the money, around $20,000, she got as reparations because she was placed in a Japanese internment camp when she was 4 to start her catering business.
Massively gifted piano player. But he moved into the field of complete nonsense. He’s extremely gifted in complete nonsense. Every video is a masterclass in utter nonsense. I’ve watched them all. My complete nonsense has really improved.
I am so grateful that I was born early enough to have seen and enjoyed this kind of humor and entertainment. No filth, politics, or hatred needed to provide historical comedic enjoyment. What an artist.
I like how he does risque material in a subtle and inoffensive way - safe for children because they wouldn't get it, but the adults would find it hilarious.
How great is Marilyn Mulvane to keep a straight face and keep singing so well while Victor is goofing around and talking to her and audience laughter almost drowning out her voice.... 😂😂😂
Absolutely love this fellows brand of comedy, never swears, humiliates the crap out of his guests, but everyone still has fun. His brand of funny is a very rare commodity these days.
I saw Victor Borge in concert twice. Once was a solo comedy show, the other when he conducted an orchestra, with added comedy. We shared a birthday too, but not the same year. Actually, it was every year.
Victor Borge was a genuis and his sense of humour was hilarious. Some of it was made on the run when people came in late. I was honoured to have seen him in three countries during his life and the last time we saw him was in Australia three months befor he passed away. A really great pianist and comedian. Dont have any more Victor Borge,s
You must be one of those old timers, 70+ 800.000 miles and more stories than the average lifetime of a youtuber. how's life at the nursing home gramps? (Yeah i'm jealous how can you tell?)
Once upon a time, this is how gifted, dedicated and consummately professional you had to be in order to be successful. This is one of the best postings on the whole site, thank you.
How did I not know this before? He's genius and I can't stop laughing. The mixture of incredible musical talent and such a great humor... I'm so sad that I didn't live in that time to see him live.
His opening to Liebestraum played on his knees with no damper pedal is still better than mine... as is the portion with someone else's tie in his mouth.
Mr. Borge was an act that I saw on American TV in the 1960s in the days of my childhood. Later in my life this remarkable man resurfaced via the www. A truly entertaining personality. Thank You. Mr. Borge!
To this day, when he comes to the "Pardon me madam, are you laying eggs?!" response, it gets me everytime! Just rib hurting laughter🤣 he's so funny with audience members!
I miss this man. We could all use him right now. I saw him live a few times and even though the show was pretty much the same every time, you could tell you were in the presence of a rare greatness that will never be replicated.
Thank you for posting this! I have fond memories of watching this on a VHS tape with my grandfather over and over and laughing like loons. I didn't know that I'd ever see it again.
Victor Borge: There is a dear and wonderful dutch pianist and comedian Hans Liberg who himself is a fascinating and very funny, impressing musician/comedian - regarding himself, most probably, as one successor of Victor Borge. I was fascinated. Later on Victor Borge (a Dane) got me immediately - being a former high-rank concert-pianist, who - obviously - don`t match that pompous attitude of nowadays ´cool comedians´ . . . He was moking Adolf Hitler during the 2. world war and had to immigrate to the USA. I instantly fell in love with this old-fashioned gentleman of music and comedy. As the other commentators already mentioned: It is so beautiful to watch this slightly mocking and quietly provocative, nonaggressive and benigne man develope his humor in his appearances . . . This is so sweet! Thank you.
Claus Christoffersen exquisite timing, and the perfect showmen-entertainer! Always hysterical and virtuostic. There will never be anyone anywhere quite as compsosed and improvisiational simultaneously. A genius, he was athletic didactic, extremely musical virtuoso! Wonderful laughs!
I remember as a kid seeing and hearing Victor Borge on PBS. It's long form (things are much faster nowadays), but that said I am glad that his schtick is available to all on this platform. May his memory be a blessing.
"not much to laugh at these days"...that's definitely so not true !He is/was so hilarious, with such a good sense of humor...I miss him... His humor is timeless , like you have written.Thank You !
True musical artist, and best comedian that brought races together , Victor Borge is one of the best comedians I've ever seen and he orchestras this on his own, one of the best pianists in his time , poet, writer ect...Thank you for sharing this video
139 brain dead people! There’s is no way you cannot find this funny! This is the best kind of humour, much better than swearing, and long stories. The best ever.
If a hundred years from now there will still be those in the business of making people laugh (and God help us if there aren't) I feel certain Victor Borge is one of a very small handful of entertainers whose performances will be watched, admired, and likely imitated.
I used to watch him on an old vhs tape at my grandparents house when I would stay the night, when I was a kid. I was only 7 or 8 years old, but I loved it. I wish I could have made one of his shows with my grandparents before they passed.
The best parts are when he asks the lady if she's laying eggs and when he wants the "ovation" to die down after announcing what Marilyn will sing. Hilarious! I literally can't stop laughing at those two parts. He's one of the best. Up there with Jonathan Winters in my books of comedy greats.
My wife and I saw Victor Borge in London before we were married, 60 years ago. He amuses us as much now as he did then.
So lucky. Wish I'd had the opportunity
Victor borge and Andre previn brought classical music to the masses and are to applauded for doing so. Rest in peace Andre and victor goodnight god bless. You both will be always remembered . From Michael from Yorkshire and proud of it.
This program is my Christmas gift each year, i can see my grandfather in him that passed away 30y ago and i can laugh so much, thank you

I used to wait tables in my twenties. I would have deliberately spilled a drink on him just for the reaction.

Then you’re two bricks short of a load.
I come from Copenhagen, I was here before you - priceless.
We always think of Victor Borge as a comic, but he was also one of the most superbly talented musicians ever.
Musicians, comedians they're both art.
In a Rick Beato interview, Sting references Victor Borge as a genius musician who knew how to play the wrong thing at just the right time.
@@devonull8784 Eric Morcambe must have seen him once.
Absolutely devastating. Should have been a concert pianist. Instead he decided to be a professional idiot. I’m so happy he made that career decision.

It’s not that rare. Humor has changed…. and for the worse

I agree great copy of his genious
I could see him conducting PDQ Bach. He would be well-suited for that!
What I like about Victor Borge is that he entertains people with comedy and he also amazing at the piano.

The best parts are when he asks the lady if she's laying eggs and when he wants the "ovation" to die down after announcing what Marilyn will sing. Hilarious! I literally can't stop laughing at those two parts. He's one of the best. Up there with Jonathan Winters in my books of comedy greats.
He has the pause of a Marx brother. Love it. When he cycles the window for the singer I died. Too funny. Constant reproach oh man that was funny.
Miss the man. He was hilarious.
One of the first comedians that did crowd work!
Victor Borge was The consummate-entertainer and will always be!
You know someone is funny when they don’t need a word to make everyone laugh
my ultimate favorite of all time
I would have sacrificed a good day to have seen him live.
It would have made up for it.

"Joe Green". The funniest man who has ever lived.
And the soprano is a good comedian also
Still looking for the performance where he played the "Danish national anthem" - two notes - "it's a very small country..."
imagine sitting there laughing and Victor Borge says something to you
