The shows he did in Danish, also featured quite creative use of our language, and quite often mixing English and Danish to create even more jokes and word play.
my parents (i'm 76 now) attended one of his performances. They said if you were in the first couple of rows, you heard even more funny comments the mic didn't pick up
There was no one then, and there's been no one since, who even got close to this level of talent. Not only his brilliant ability at the piano, but also an amazing comedy talent, with perfect timing for every joke and aside. His performances with other top musicians and vocalists will undoubtedly stand the test of time. No matter how often you watch them, you will always end up with genuine tears of laughter. His concerts are already greatly missed, and if you have any on video, please treasure them as you will NEVER see a performer (or performances) like this again. Suffice to say, when the whole audience stand as one, and continue to applaud for an amazing length of time, you KNOW that it has been something VERY special for them. Victor was without ANY doubt, a rare and true Master of his craft. R.I.P. Victor 🙂 xxx
Even for centuries hence we’ll never have a consummate genius, an artiste non pareil , unmatched pianist, unmatched humorist all rolled into one! We can only thank God for the miracle that was, is and will be forever, the one and only VCTOR BORGE
I am 22 and it amazes me that one man can bring so much joy to so many people, even after his death half a century ago. It has me weeping both tears of sadness and joy: he is gone, but still here
He was one of a kind! I had the privilege of seeing Mr. Borge perform in the early 80's. I still remember some of his jokes to this day. Thanks for posting this. Precious Memories!!
You must mean you learned about him 5 hours ago and already watched acts 2 and 3....wait were under Biden now so you learned about him 12 hours ago and have already watched acts 6 and 9
Thank you for posting this! Brings back memories of when my Dad bought me this and we just laughed and laughed. Miss you dad and thank you Mr. Borge! A masterful comedic genius both of his time and ours!
I seriously don't understand some people. 21 (at this point in time) negative, thumbs-down? What miserable, unrewarding lives they must lead to not find this man both a comic genius and a master pianist!
Well, you can't fix stupid. Maybe those people are too stupid to even understand the comedy! That's the only explanation I can come up with for giving a thumbs down to such a comic and musical genius!
How wonderful to watch this. Brings back memories of watching this with my Mum & Dad when I was a kid. They're both in a better place now so this is a great way to remember them
I went to see him in my twenty’s. Don’t remember my motivation for buying the ticket, but so happy I did. I am now 86 and can recall vividly my pleasure to be entertained by him.
I'm danish. born 1982 and I grew up with this man. My love for classical music stems from him. My dad is a guitarist, so I learned to love rock and pop through him. I remember watching one of Victors last shows in Denmark, and tho he was very old and a bit tired at that point, he was as sharp as ever. And oh my lord the music 🥰🥰
This is one of my favorite skits from Victor Borga. The first time I saw it, I nearly laughed 😅 🤣 😂 myself crazy 🤪! Victor, you 🤣 😆 😂 you ❤️ did it again!
"Maybe in your house." "Maybe in your dining room." "Maybe in your living room." (Almost says it, than goes back to playing the piano.) Spectacular timing.
what a dee sense of music and musicaity, mixed with a elegant and "old style" (and very inteligent) sense of humor. He turns many things in a comic key and suddenly turns back again in a deep poetic mood. A Genius. No doubt.
It's because of how you practice. Bad practice without discipline and constantly pushing yourself basically causes you to get no where at a certain point. It takes at least ten years of serious practicing, 4 hours a day to get to the advanced level and being able to play very complicated classical pieces from memory. Top piano performers have insane practice routines. They don't just mess around for a hour or so twice a week. They play 6-8 hours straight every day and practice the most difficult pieces. If you can't play something you have to sit and repeatedly attempt to play it until you finally can, no matter how painful it gets, otherwise it never happens and the older you get slows down the entire process. That is why children can learn to play advanced pieces very quickly while adults find it much more time consuming. With that said even child prodigies usually lack physical strength and finess. They usually can't actually formulate and compose extremely complicated music either even thought they can play it.
For musicians and music apreciaters, he's the GOAT.

The Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2 bit was genius. It reminded me of Donald Duck and Daffy Duck playing the dueling pianos in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? That song just makes people fight. LOL

27:41-29:38 For such a silly man, he could be incredibly poetic. You can tell he is deeply sentimental about this lullaby just from the way he talks about it beforehand.
It's his own transcription of "Wiegenlied" by Fini Henriques. Unfortunately there's no sheet music for his version of it - Borge plays it in a different key and chops and changes parts of it.

One of the greatest performers to touch a piano and our funny bone, and I wish he will be remembered forever.
One comment said he was 81 years old when he performed this. At that age most performers are either retired or dead. Yet he did it.
To be able to switch between comedy and playing with such great dynamics he is a genius to say the least.
