    Gidday Gert. Been watching several of your videos . . . . I'm new to PCPs after a very in depth apprenticeship on 22 PBs. How much do you think the pellet accuracy is a function of the velocity it "likes" versus barrel harmonics?

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  7 месяцев назад

      Pellets are influenced by harmonics, but much less than slugs, I would guess pellets have about a 2-4% harmonic influence and 95% between weight, sizing and speed. SLugs on the othert hand is about 20% harmonics. Also remember, the faster you shoot the projectile the bigget role harmonics are going to play.

    Should have tried to get the Barracuda Hunter pellets in there very accurate hollow point pellet even at high speed

    according to my experience, the problem is in your magazine.. same fps, same distance, same bullet, but different bullet group. try to enter one by one to test accuracy..

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  8 месяцев назад

      I wish I could, but the darn opening is too small for me to single load, will ask friend with 3D printer to design a single loader for me. As far as I can feel there is no bad feeding of the pellts, they enter smoothly with the magazine.

      I found accuracy improves a lot with single loading especially with slugs

    It gets frustrating if you try everything but the pellets just don't want to cooperate. Until you find the right pellet and the right speed. I think I found the right speed for the H&N 18.
    Did you see the picture of the JSB 13 grain at over 1100fps group I sent you. I did not have time to shoot again to test if that was just a one-off or not.

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  8 месяцев назад

      Yup, that is extra ordinary at that speed, would be interesting to see if it is repeatable and what will happen in windy conditions

    • @L.V-Rider
      @L.V-Rider 8 месяцев назад

      @@AimSmall Just now, after sun set here and no wind, I used the JSB 13 grain and shot at the 75 meter steel plate and stacked 5 of them in a more-or-less 20mm group as estimated with the mil-dots. I did not check the speed but the settings on the rifle was the same as the other day. On the 100 meter steel plate it opened a lot, like almost 100mm. It was to dark to see if they were spiraling but I assume it did.
      You should try the 13 grain pellets out of the Ghost, they seem to be very stable, even out of my break barrel.

    Hi thank you for the video it must be time consuming and costly.. In Canada we are only allowed
    500 fps and i think England is like 600 or 650fps. Any chance you could try these and a bunch
    of different pellets.

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  8 месяцев назад +2

      That I can do, but not with the Ghost, the regulator setting will ne too low to get consistent shots, but that won't stop me from trying.

      England has a sub12 ft/lbs limit on rifles and sub6 ft/lbs on pistols without an FAC.

      @@AimSmall Yes but still better than the 10J limitation we have here in Sweden, same on pistols though. But the if it is semi automatic the limit is 3J without a FAC which is not to hard to get on a airgun for pest control.

    Those Cometa branded JSB do not work as well as de original JSBs in my personal experience. I guess it may have something to do with the tolerances in QC. Cometa is a Spanish brand and here in Spain it is difficult to find the originals as these Cometas are all over the place. I do buy the originals anyhow 😊

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  8 месяцев назад +2

      Yup, that is plan B, buy some more JSB'd. The Cometa is the cheaper version and you can only have that where the QC is not so strict. Same lead, process etc. I have 3 tine left, hopefully they are better.

    @AimSmall Hello, good day, uncle Gert, sorry, I wrote this at this hour, I needed your help. I enjoy watching your videos. I bought the new Maverick Sniper .22 700 Superior. Most of the time with hn 27 gr 218 it is 55 yards 2 sm groupman, sometimes 1.5 sm groupman with 940 fps. I always want it to be 10-13 -15 mm groupman. Will there be a difference if I buy superior heavy? I even added carbon fiber.

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  8 месяцев назад

      Superior heavy is built for slugs heavier than 30gr. The liner you have is good for those slugs, but you will have to fine tune the gun a bit for better accuracy.

    • @kricketkricket6737
      @kricketkricket6737 8 месяцев назад

      @@AimSmall How to fine tune? I shoot 25 gr with the same fps as you, groupman 55 yards 2sm. I want superior 700 with 55 yards 1-1.5 cm groupman.
      fx wrote on its website: "Required for projectiles heavier than 23 gr"

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  8 месяцев назад

      @@kricketkricket6737 my understanding is that the heavy liner is up to 30gr and the SUperior heavy is for above 30gr. Each gun will have their sweetspot at a different speed, try and get the speed up or down by 5fps, you will immediatley see the difference in groupings.

    I like your videos BUT....
    All your groups are really bad at that distance...sorry to tell you that. Things you can do:
    1-try single shot feeding
    2-try w/o moderator if using it
    3-check scope rail / adapters
    4-check your mounts & torque
    5-try with another scope
    6-clean your barrel with WD40
    7-clean your barrel with JB
    8-check your barrel crown
    9-recrown the barrel anyway
    10-check pellet entrance
    11-check transfer port
    12-polish your bore on a lathe
    13-check SD and ES
    14-check barrel is well fixed
    15-throw your gun 😂
    Get back to us and good luck.

      Throw the gun looks like the easiest option. Yes, the barrele gets dirty very quickly, I need to polich it some more, I did see a huge improvement after the last polich... I hate cleaning barrels every 10 minutes. Thaks for the honest feedback,

    I don’t understand what’s going on with your gun. I bought a BRK Ghost .22 plus in the uk , fac power ( up to 45 ft lb) fed it 18 grn JSB pellets and straight from tin straight from unpacking at 50 metes getting 2 cm groupings after zeroing. All this barrel cleaning and other revisions imply you got a duff gun .

      Hi Phillip - I’ve just bought exactly the same gun but have to admit I’m a bit out of my depth - can you tell me what Regulator pressure you had and power wheel setting to achieve your groupings at 50m. I’ve never had this much adjustment on an air rifle before and it’s fascinating but a bit daunting (not had a chance to use it yet). The Reg has been set by the factory at 165 - the power wheel @ max and the fill pressure 190.

    • @philthefluter1
      @philthefluter1 4 месяца назад

      Hi yes I after initial shots I decided to turn down the reg, like yours it was set around 165. So have turned down reg to 130, and then turned power wheel don to 4 and played with it. Now shooting 18 grn jsb at 920 ft/sec and grouping nicely. Don’t forget to completely drain gun of air before reducing reg. I turned mine down about 3 or for turns then when I re filled air turned reg up till I got reg to 130 ish. I wanted gun to give me accurate head shots on rabbits out to 50/60m. I have a .22 lr but when shooting without certain back stop I use the ghost.
