    That Red Wolf doesn’t half deliver a whack! Love the way the cross hairs of your scope become almost motionless as you take the shot - very evident on your long range shooting of small targets like magpies at 200+ yards (totally amazing). Would really appreciate a few tips on shooting accurately - I find it really hard to stay steady on the shot.

    • @shveylien7401
      @shveylien7401 Год назад +1

      Some of the time when you can't relax and get your nerves and muscles under control, I only apply trigger pressure when I wiggle and waggle from 6 o clock on target towards the bullseye.... it sounds weird, I know, but with precise trigger control and finger pressure I don't know when the shots going to go, but I know it'll be when I'm going from 6 o clock to bullseye because that's the only time I add pressure. If you don't NEED to make a shot, just breathe, stretch, figure out which muscle is pulling you off aim, be slow, find a comfortable position, don't kink yourself onto aim, and when your happy and all lined up, close your eyes and count to 10 then open them... are you still on target? if not, your probably struggling to fight into position and should re adjust yourself. Don't over grip, don't under grip, expect recoil but a good design of rifle should push back instead of jump up. Once you get comfy and stable, then you gotta simulate recoil a little and see if the rifle comes to rest pointed at target or if it bounces off to the side, if it bounces sideways, you might pull the shot simply because recoil is uneven. As an example, my cheap bi-pod likes it when I pull back gently on the rifle before the shot because the legs point slightly towards the trigger when fully down and this causes a Pole Vault of recoil. I fixed it with a small spacer to keep the legs forward a little, but I was losing my mind trying to figure out why my shots were spread vertically.

    • @simon6ppc246
      @simon6ppc246  Год назад

      Thanks Mikey, think half of it is you have to be computable and breathing to be steady and calm, also to be fair i have spent all my life trying to hit small targets and such so may be it comes natural and i suppose one last thing plenty on practise really 👍

  • @freeforester1717
    @freeforester1717 Год назад +1

    How high above the centre bore of the air rifle is the crosshairs sitting at? You can determine this by fixing a mandrel through a piece of paper at the moderator and marking where the crosshairs marks the paper. It looks to be around 3-4”?

    Hi Simon, my Tikka 223 loves Federal 53gr Vmax and they are deadly on foxes. The last batch I bought had gone up in price by a third so I've decided to get into reloading my own. I would be interested to learn what powder you use and how many grains. Studying all I can find on RUclips, but wonder if you can recommend any forums on reloading. Look forward to watching the next video.

      Hyia pal i use vit 133 and usually find the most accurate loads are around 1 grain under the max load recommended in 223 but work them up from minimum load recommended.

      @@simon6ppc246 thanks Simon. Very helpful. Vit133 is the powder I bought to start reloading. I have yet to start. So far I’m still cleaning, de priming and resizing cases. Do you apply any crimp to your reloads, or just seat the bullet to required oal?
      Have you experimented with oal to improve accuracy, or am I overcomplicating the process. Much appreciate your input. I have a lot to learn!😊

      @@michaelearl7118 Never found crimping any good Michael to be fair but if you seat at 2.260 COL you shouldn't be far off but if you know how to measure to the lands that should be even more accurate for the COL.
