      It stays in the same place when you zero the rifle so it depends on how straight your mounts are etc.

    How come the foxes get used to the ir , and why so many? How does this happen that they’re seemingly trained to know that the ir means danger?

    • @keithjones13
      @keithjones13  3 месяца назад

      Hi Phil it's because someone has shot at them and mist with some form of red light in the past and to foxes the 850nm IR light is visible so they soon learn red light mean danger mate 👍

      @@keithjones13 interesting thanks. I’m relatively new to the game and can’t afford thermal yet so I purchased the Pard ir scope originally to shoot rabbits with my 22LR but also recently purchased a 22-250 for foxes and I use the scope on both.
      I haven’t had any issues with foxes being scared of the ir YET and hope it doesn’t happen anytime soon lol 👍

    You are using a 850nm illuminator... foxes in my area did the same until i bought the nightfox illuminator which allows you to switch between white, 850 and 940.... i leave it on 940 and they dont see it.

      There is a study which alludes to wolves and dogs able to sense the heat of light. The radiation intensity of 850 is about 3 times 940.

      Foxes and dogs easily see 940 nm.And i suspect,they see 1550 nm as well.

    Great video, do you use the muzzle velocity from the box for your ballistics calculator? Or did you invest in a chrono? Your 5cm bullet drop is similar to mine for that distance, I'm assuming you're using a 223.

    • @keithjones13
      @keithjones13  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks Ronan , I home load my own bullets, I find them better than factory loads in my rifle , it's a
      .243 I use on the Foxes I find it has a bit more dropping power and gives you less runners, saying that I've had 2 run lately 🤦🤣🤣👍

      @@keithjones13 nice one keith. I think I've sorted the ballistics calculator in my scope, I think the speed on the box works well enough.
