Had a call off a farmer who's small shoot is having problems with foxes and the keeper is having a hard time getting on top of them, so we went in to help
Hi Phil it's because someone has shot at them and mist with some form of red light in the past and to foxes the 850nm IR light is visible so they soon learn red light mean danger mate 👍
@@keithjones13 interesting thanks. I’m relatively new to the game and can’t afford thermal yet so I purchased the Pard ir scope originally to shoot rabbits with my 22LR but also recently purchased a 22-250 for foxes and I use the scope on both. I haven’t had any issues with foxes being scared of the ir YET and hope it doesn’t happen anytime soon lol 👍
@@keithjones13 wicked lights 940 nm had it 3 mnths now used for foxes good for 250 yds never had a fox run from it good piece of kit bought from ian hodges £120
You are using a 850nm illuminator... foxes in my area did the same until i bought the nightfox illuminator which allows you to switch between white, 850 and 940.... i leave it on 940 and they dont see it.
Great video, do you use the muzzle velocity from the box for your ballistics calculator? Or did you invest in a chrono? Your 5cm bullet drop is similar to mine for that distance, I'm assuming you're using a 223.
Thanks Ronan , I home load my own bullets, I find them better than factory loads in my rifle , it's a .243 I use on the Foxes I find it has a bit more dropping power and gives you less runners, saying that I've had 2 run lately 🤦🤣🤣👍
That a alpex LRF ? If so why is your LRF box in middle picture and mine lower left
It stays in the same place when you zero the rifle so it depends on how straight your mounts are etc.
@@callumhepworth-smith6376 using tier one mounts , tier one rail .
And it’s just in lower left corner
IR shy!
How come the foxes get used to the ir , and why so many? How does this happen that they’re seemingly trained to know that the ir means danger?

There is a study which alludes to wolves and dogs able to sense the heat of light. The radiation intensity of 850 is about 3 times 940.
Foxes and dogs easily see 940 nm.And i suspect, they see 1550 nm as well.
Great job Keith well worth the trip out mate. Keep the video's coming 👍
Cheers Jim mate 👍
Keep up the good work men,,,,,male fox is known as a Ren,,,,,👌👍
Thanks Steven 👍
Charlie in the bag sir... be careful who you say that to mate, could get you in trouble 🤣...

@@keithjones13 nice one keith. I think I've sorted the ballistics calculator in my scope, I think the speed on the box works well enough.
Well done again and very well presented as always mate
Keep the vids coming and I really enjoy them indeed 🏴🤙
Thanks mate 👍
What IR are you using ?
Hi James I use a pbir 👍
Good work boys.
Thank you 👍
Also what ir is that
Hi Matt yes Alpex 4k lrf with a pbir, not 100% but I think it's all done to how the scope is mounted to were the range box is in the scope mate 🤔
@@keithjones13 thanks for replying , god know mate lol you think where yours is would be spot on , as when I zoom in once it goes !
Pbir L ?
@@matthewnobby6789 yes mine moves a bit as well mate but I think I can still see the box up to 14 x 👍
That’s why thermal scopes are best
Well done 🦊🦊🦊🦊 out the way 👏👏
