    I also have a BRK Ghost HP in 22cal and had just about the exact same results as you. No slug shot well at all and by far the best pellet in my gun was the JSB Redesigned shallow at 922Ffps.

    Thanks for that Gert. They seem to like the lower speeds. Very interesting. Seems like a good option for my Crown Mk2 with the 380 barrel. As usual, your tests give me some good options. Your videos have steered me to rounds to use and at what speeds. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Keep it up.

    I just ordered some .22 28.5 JSB monster Grands. I thought it was really odd that there isn't a single video on them. Maybe it would be a good one to showcase since they should be popular with these higher power .22s these days. They are basically a heavy redesign. I also wanted to talk to you about my experience with my FX crown MK2. I ordered it with the heavy liner 600mm. basically capable of 54 fpe max with a 6 gram hammer weight at 170 bar. very inefficient at this power with a 480 bottle but not really my point. I keep it at 160 since it's not worth the loss of shot count. I never really shot over 27.5 grain slugs because I just didn't have the power, and they shot well, as did the redesigns, but groups suffered at the introduction of wind even inside of 50 yards with the heavy liner. After doing a lot of sniffing around I decided to get the regular liner, 1:24 twist instead of the heavy: 1:16. Best decision I could have made. The gun has no problem stabilizing 27.5 slugs, it also allowed me to shoot every pellet more accurately than any other gun I've had so far. just turn the tranter port to medium for the 21.14 gran and 18 grain and it's money. Not efficient but all I care about for the most part is accuracy. I also found the pellet probe to be a Hugh different in accuracy and perfectly consistent over the pin probes for slugs and pellets. I always used the dual transfer port in all testing. I would never assume this would matter But I threw my pin probes out, after flip flopping back and forth with the same degradation in group size with the pin probes. The pellet probe alone was a big deal. I gained nothing in velocity with the pin style, and lost accuracy and consistency. I don't think the heavy liner is worth a damn unless you are in the 30 grain and up and then you are kind of stuck there unless it's calm. definitely more for slugs than pellets. I know you still have your M3 so I'm sure these results would transfer to you also. Just my 2 cents. I know this is just one person's experience, but I like your channel and maybe it will help someone.

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall 5 дней назад

      I have never owned a M3, probably never will either, my old FX SmoothX with all it's upgrades is just fine. And you are 100% correct, the heavy liner is build to stablilize heavy slugs, 30gr and heavier, it has a faster twist rate. Pellets don't need or like a fast twist rate, the twist is only needed to initially stabilize the pellet out of the barrel, about 5ft after leaving the barrel the skirt does the stabilizing, this is where the problem starts with fast twist rates and pellets - they moment wind is involved it counters some of the spin, a left to right wind versus a right to left wind will have a different impact... Fast twist rates are not good for pellet shooting. With regard to the pin probe versus pellet probe, that is all about balance and how deep the probe pushes the projectile down the barrel, it might be that the pin probe doesn't push the pellets deep enpough (due to the hollow in the skirt), thus a waste of air and not great excelliration for the pellet. You will also notice a difference with a pin probe between flat base and hollow base slugs. I like to keep thinbgs simple, dual air port works for me, pellets and slugs, my probe is set a little deeper to accomodate pellets more as I shoot both when testing. The FX is predominantly my slug gun, I was shooting 26gr out of the heavy liner with great accuracy, but have switched to 30gr now, both at 965fps seems to be the sweetspot in my gun, regulator at 140bar, thus great shot count to boot.

    • @ravenshield7823
      @ravenshield7823 5 дней назад

      @@AimSmall I thought your FX was an M3, my mistake. The hollow in the skirt is exactly what I think. I couldn't lengthen the pin or you wouldn't be able to get the mag in since with the bolt open the end of the pin was flush mag wall. I also had loading issues with the huma pin probe. It would push the pellet or slug through and into the breach before the taper would prevent the magazine from rotating, so the probe would get stuck trying to feed and it was useless. I could fix it by shortening the pin but then the rest of the problem gets worse. So in the trash it went, lesson learned.

    • @ravenshield7823
      @ravenshield7823 4 дня назад

      @@AimSmall That's kind of the limiting factor in the Crown is its lack of plenum, you need the high reg pressure to make up for it. Great for what it is anyhow. Happy shooting. I just ordered a Epic 2, 550mm CZ carbon bottle version. Can't wait to test it out. Probably a forget everything you though you knew, new experience. I really hope it's what I want it to be.

    It will be an interesting video when you test BC of a given pellet or slug at different speeds, I've long suspected a higher speed would give a higher BC but don't have the equipment to test this, so I'll be waiting for the promised video with bated breath. The tests of JTS pellets have proven that JSB now have a serious rival.

    There are a lot of misconceptions about lead. In its pure form lead is not a problem. It is poisonous when lead oxides enter the blood stream. I live close to a heavy metal processing plant. The fumes and the dust are dangerous to the environment, especially to children who play on land where the dust has settled. Lead in the blood can cause brain damage. Holding a couple of 'clean' lead pellets in your mouth for a few minutes is not going to harm you in any way. However, pellets shot into the environment start to corrode. The process is slow and takes many years. These oxides leach out and contaminate the water table and enter the food chain. That's a bad thing in the long run.

    Here is a warning! For English air gunners. I have always used 18grn JSB Jumbo heavies, running at 11-75ftlbs, (11-5ftlbs with 16grns) but I thought that I would try some 18grn JTS Dead centre's. As I set up my AirArms S410 to shoot 1/4" high at 30yds these proved to be highly accurate. I then noticed at longer ranges on crows that they dropped away rapidly. Back home I chronographed them and discovered that they were only at 10-80ftlbs. On closer inspection the skirts are were thinner so do not seal as well. If you can get these JTS pellets up to, even 11-5ftlbs you will be illegal with 16grn pellets!

    I have several high end PCPs yet still they are not the most accurate PCPs I own. Surprisingly my most accurate PCPs are made by Nova Vista from Macau China. One is the ATI Liberty in .22, Air Venturi Avenger bullpup in .22, Avenger wood stock .25 cal, and last but not least a Nova Vista Freedom in .22. These barrels are not very pellet picky and all hold dime size groups at 75 yards with 18.13 in .22 and JSB Hades 26 grain in .25. They will hold their own against my 2K+ PCPs out to 80 yards or so but they do not shoot as powerful as the more expensive PCPs which with slugs I can and do shoot much farther with. For a PCP made in China and well under 500$ you really don't need to spend more for pellet shooting out to 100 yards. Plus they are much less stressful to take with you when riding on the quad because they are more affordable and scratch doesn't bother you as much. Thanks for the video Gert. Stay blessed from Pennsylvania USA.

Hardly any difference in accuracy. JTS a smidge better. Big difference JSB had a lot of bent skirts and they were dirty. On the other hand the JTS were clean and in perfect shape. They are going to be hard to beat. Maybe JSB will take note of their short coming. Well that is my two cents.
