  • Today there will be little shooting and a lot of blah blah blah, I have had this gun now for 1 month, so it is time to reveal the good, the bad and the ugly. I am not holding back anything. Yes there is a lot of talking, but how else can I say what needs to be said?
    BRK Ghost High Powe .22. One month later and about 3000 rounds through the barrel, my personal findings and experiences.

    Great video Gert. Brocock now supply the cheekrest with a riser so that two mags can be used together. If you contact them, they should be able to send you one.

    You had me laughing with the comment on the person who unsubscribed. LMFAO. What is wrong with people. I love your presentation style and content, why would you watch just to try and find something to complain about. Great video Gert.

    I made the exact same adjustments to my Ghost trigger and yes, the safety stopped working like yours. I don't think the trigger is the best but the gun is very accurate and I love it 😊👍

    Great review! I have this gun on my radar so it’s nice to get some feedback from someone who actually owns it. By the way, I’ve heard BRK is about to release a slug barrel.

    Great video and info Gert. I used to tell people to look up the the definition of "Poverty" in a dictionary and the definition reads "see owning a horse"! Now I think the dictionary needs to be revised to read "see owning a horse and or PCP air rifles"! LOLZ Cheers from the desert SW USA

      Whahaha, owning a horse is just as expensive as guns, not even talking about mariage... lol. All the best for the USA.

    Nice review summary Gert.
    The Artemis M22 I have also refuse to shoot slugs with it's 1:18 twist barrel, no choke. That is fine with me as I use the .22LR when I need more power at longer distance. With pellets it is ok, one hole at 25m, 20mm at 50m and 50-60mm at 100m. I would love it to do better at 100 meter but it seems it is the limit of the rifle. Somebody suggested another barrel but I don't want to spend more money on a budget rifle like this. If it was a rifle like yours, another story.

    Enjoyed the video and the fair critique, safety switch position in particular. I'm not aware of the plenum capacity for this rifle but a larger one might mitigate the need for very high reg pressure. Looking forward to hearing how it performs with a slug barrel.

    Hi Gert, the cheek piece comes standard now with a spacer so you can run 2 mags. However I removed mine as I run my scope closer than you. There is a screw on the trigger adjustment dedicated to set the safety so it works wherever you have it set. I think the trigger does let the gun down a bit but can be adjusted so it’s very crisp with no creep at all but slightly on the heavy side for target shooters, just about ideal for pest/hunting though. My biggest issue is the 177 magazines ability to deform pelts skirts. The accuracy when single loading is outstanding but not so great when using the magazine (on mine anyway). Still a great rifle and I’m so glad I traded my M3 for it.
    Thanks for all the time and effort you put into these videos. It’s great to hear about your experience with a very interesting hobby/sport.

    Hello Gert, same issue with hammer spring. There are actually 5 different springs available. HP2, HP1, HP, Med, and LP. My gun cane with Hp2 spring…i now have the LP in it (177 20ftlb). Try different spring.

    My BSA R10 is a little like that. If I have it set as light as I would like the safety can not engage. It is set fairly light but Not as light as I would like. I have had my rifle Airtech tuned and has custom internals and a back vented carbon shroud. It is an utter joy to use and ultra reliable and consistent. Pity we are stuck with 12flb :(

    Brk makes a power spring adjuster kit that includes 5 different hammer springs.
    That should solve the adjustment issue

    The PoI shift when putting chrono on the barrel isn't because it's moving the barrel, it just changes the harmonics

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  7 месяцев назад

      It is both, the additional weight pulls the barrel tip lower, changing the POI and the harmonics are changed, the harmonics are more affected with slugs then pellets.

    • @doomfathertm8771
      @doomfathertm8771 7 месяцев назад

      That would be some flimsy barrel if the chrono moved it even a tiny amount :O@@AimSmall

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  7 месяцев назад

      99% of barrels (air rifles) will have an impact, they are free floating, thus only 1 connect point to gun... any weight will have a shift.

    Great series of videos on the Ghost, I watched them all before I decided which airgun to purchase. No offense to you or your BRK, but it seems to me there is an issue with the barrel quality? It seems to be hit or miss with these guns? Some super accurate out of the box, some not (Hard Air review). There are many options at this price range. If polishing the barrel helped, then its obvious the machining was at fault, just my opinion- your thoughts please..

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  5 месяцев назад

      This price range is mid cpmpared to the real boss guns out there (Steyr, AA XTi etc), unfortunately they are not the only suppliers with issues, most of the other big brands suffer the same fate, I was a bit dissapointed by the LW barrel, it is pellet fussy and didn't like certain pellet weights. To find a gun brand that doesn't fall into this bracket is impossible. My 3x Steyrs were all pellet fussy, but once you found the correct pellet... nothing can compare. The same with the Ghost, once you get the pellet/s[peed combo there is very few guns out there that can better it. The latest Extreme Benchrest was won by a Ghost - modified yes, but you will not find a super accurate gun ANYWHERE that is not modified. Even my beloved 3 HW's had some minor work done to get the optimal speed, now they are lasers. I am always direct with my answers here and will probably peeve off somebody in the process... The Ghost needs just as much attention as the FX M3 to get it to shoot good, only difference is that the FX has had more time in the market, thus more after market parts and some of these parts maybe easier to source. Accuracy - no difference between these to brands, trial and error and love needed to get both shooting well. Built quality goes to the Gost by a landslide, I haven't had an FX without an air leak yet (had 5, down to 1 only at th moment). Adjustability goes to the FX, better hammer spring and hammer combo, the M# is very easy to adjust - that is if you like tinkering. I myself HATE to tune a gun, I want it to shoot brilliantly out the box. Niether gun will give you that and if you start with slugs - empty the wallet, it going to take time and money. At this stage I am on the fence between the two guns based on built quality, accuracy and reliability. The FX has way too many o-rings that pop. But the FX is easier to fine tune.. too many choices. Sorry I am not helping.

      @44budrow 5 месяцев назад

      Thanks Gert for the reply and info. I agree 100% on build quality, that is one of the main reasons I looked at the Ghost. I own 2 Edguns which I feel are one of the better designs out there. I also have 2 Daystates which took some work, but shoot well now. I do like my FX airguns but the metal is too soft and leaks are the norm after some time. I am looking at the Skout and Western sidewinder now.
      Keep up the GOOD work and thanks for your time and input ! @@AimSmall
