The straps are called arm straps. The excercise is the "Hanging Leg Raise". Great excercise for lower abs.

So I notice a variation demonstrated by Rob in 4:38 for weighted crunch, so just wondering is this superior to putting the plate behind neck if I'm doing on a bench? Assume I neglect all the neck injuries issues coz I dun have neck problem

its all about stablisers in the lats and shoulders, try using a hammer grip if your gym has on i've found i was swinging less with that , also imagine your leaning back on a roman chair pad
