For anyone using pro18, to get internal you cant hold shift and click preferences. You need to hold shift and click options and it'll be below preferences

I'm using VP23, and the shift+click helped, even in the year 2024, thanks.
I've seen that video like 2 months ago and waited with my comment until I've tested if the options actually fixed the problems. AND THEY FREAKIN' DID! This might sound familiar to you: You scroll through your footage and out of nowhere the software crashes. At first it freezes and you might think "well maybe this time it comes back and don't crash" but it crashes every time. I can't tell which option exactly fixed the problem for good I'm just using all of them. Now Vegas gets some kind of "hiccup" where the software freezes for a small period of time but I'm totally ok with that because it comes back now and my work isn't lost anymore! Thank you so much I've liked and subscribed aswell 💖!

Thanks for the vid! For Vegas 18, the internal tab is different. You need to hold down shift BEFORE clicking options. Then it will show up right under preferences in the drop-down menu as 'internal.'

I wanted to thank you here. I just came frustrated from every forum and found your tutorials. After 2 weeks of not being able to render with my new GPU, i could finally make it and a one week render at 4K DCI 4096 now gets done in just an hour and a half! Thank you very much!

It was crashing around 30%, and it was saying 6h of rendering. SUPER SLOW

@@ScrapyardFilms Because of my one video that mostly helped with rendering crashes I've had the odd person ask me for help so I now started referring your video. My 1070 does not make much difference at all in rendering speed but a 3800X with 8 cores 16 threads seems to pick up some slack nicely... A billion subs by end of year it sounded like you said, Sony Vegas is a niche market. PS. video idea multiple time lines titled is there an easy enough way to do that like a tech site like Gamers Nexus does? If so that's a video I'd like to see, make it easier to show what the topic is or if I am showing specs of Item X still or if I went to Y or Z item.

I dont want to speak too early but I think you fixed my program lol! I've been struggling with this for so long I was beginning to think there was no use and at a last attempt found this.. no crashes and running buttery smoothe like never before! I cannot begin to tell you the hours lost to waiting for program to respond/closing and restarting/losing saves.. truly cannot thank you enough! I've got multiple videos overlapping at 50% transparency, several effects on both and transitions - this would've crashed immediately previously to this fix.. right now its running with no problems!!! I'm so excited I'm on a rant lol.. THANK YOU!

I had problems like it crashing when applying NewBlueFX, opening "split-screen", just cutting footage, and so much more, and I was SO close, and I mean SO close to submitting a refund, but this (to my suprise) fixed it! :D

This was so helpful, thank you! Very easy to follow too; I typically get frustrated with video tutorials, but everything was shown and explained so nicely in this, and my copy of Vegas is already running a lot better than before.
I was ready to uninstall and get my money back until I watched this. You have a new fan and subscriber. This fixed all the crashing and freezing issues I was having. Whatever these fixes did, it activated a component that would read my mp4 files I was trying to input.

Do you know what. I have been facing these issues for many years now. have gone through pretty much all videos and articles on the web and they all just kept asking us to play with Dynamic RAM , updating drivers and switching off GPUs. Vegas official support is just non existent. I once got so fedup that i moved away from Vegas Pro to Davinci Resolve. I realised that Davinci was not at all as intuitive as Vegas is. Your OpenCL setting alone is good enough for me to recommend you for a Noble prize.. thanks a ton.

been using vegas for over a decade, it seems like it crashes more. i thought re-rendering videos to a certain formats would help, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. i needed a real fix. THANK YOU!
Creating the video as proxy fixed the lag for me
I think this just fixed an issue I've been having. So glad because it's been wasting SO MUCH of my time with renders.
We'll see if this helps the occasional crashed but it's already a huge help

Thank you, downloaded Studio 17 last night, moving from 13. First thing I notice is preview window blacked out when previewing "Any video, any format". Didn't have this in 13. If I turned on grid, video would show.
I played around with all the setting for GPU. I have a gaming rig with SLI video cards and assumed that was the issue, so I turned SLI off. Nothing, I did worked. I scoured the internet and found this video. Turned open cl to false, problem resolved.
You saved me so much frustration. I was kinda bummed, the latest greatest from Sony was a fail. The preview window is everything to me.

Kiss on your forehead, this actually worked. I tried to render a video for 2 hours and it wouldn't stop crashing. Vegas 17 was crashing every 10 min while editing as well. Now it actually works. How did you figure this stuff out? I couldn't find any helpful information on forums etc.
I was about to request a refund for my software because I was so fed up with crashes. It took 5 minutes to load my file, and I got maybe 10 minutes of editing if I was really careful. It's been a couple days now and I haven't crashed since. Sincere thanks.

Be careful with 'So4 Compound Reader' option. After disabling it I've opened a sophisticated project only to find out that many frames in the events have shifted.
Apparently messing with it makes Vegas handle AVC files differently.

Using since original Sound Forge days. Stuck at version 12 as it appears most stable. Still crashing sometimes. With 17 almost seems like learning a new NLE. Also, am I going to have to build a new PC. Upgrade deals? Glad I stumbled on your channel Josh.

This fixed my problem. Whenever i opened and imported a vid it crashed. Now it works smooth and no crashing.

My brand new Pro 17 had me all excited after years of using Premiere. I used Vegas back on version 12 and earlier so was gone a while. I purchased it and got that old 2012 file opened a couple times and then the thing just kept crashing while loading. I sure hope this and or your other crash video helps. I'll be back to thank you profusely if this works. :)
