you can use auto ripple(ctrl+k) while editing and everytime you have a gap, it will be filled automatically. really useful.

All these years... 11+ years and I had no idea the preview option had an actual effect on physical render quality.. I thought it was just preview good god AHHHHHHHH COMMON SENSE ISNT SO COMMON thanks
Nathaniel I have since corrected myself and confirmed it does not have an effect on the quality. Just slightly decreases editing efficiency. Apologies for that.
Preview window is just that... It does not make any difference to the render. Hover over the settings and it says so...
Sadly the author of this video wouldn't add any captions/subtitles to correct it :/

Was going to say. The preview window is simply just that.
I always render proxies and leave my display window on preview "full". When exporting if I select "best" the display window automatically changes to best 👍🏻.
I actually turn the preview window off before rendering to speed things up a little.

Nice video keep it up ! Best quality on preview doesn't affect final render quality , affects only the preview (unless you choose rendering quality - preview). . Try put best at preview and draft at rendering or vice versa and see what happens . . . love your content , helped a lot . .

Question -- why the preview quality determines in any way the quality of the final render? It doesn't make a sense to me :-)

Preview makes no difference to final render and your PC would need to be steam-powered for thumbnail images to make any difference .
How can you make the "markers" move accordingly with the deleted gaps. Is this possible?
When i drag a footage into timeline of Vegas Pro 17 for editting, then drag another footage. In the same track, i drag the second footage to the first footage, it doesn't overwrite the first foottage but it goes over. How to let it overwrite the first foottage? Please help me!!!!!!!
I believe if you press ' Control + Shift + X ' it will disable crossfades and your footage will overwrite instead of fade.
A very small basic question to any of you on the comments section. (i
know the OP never answers or writes here, unless to say thank you for
someone praising him) lol. If i create a text frame/or import an image
on the VP17 timeline. Say i animate it to jump into the frame and bounce
using keyframing (lots of work) in pan n crop tool. So later on the
timeline i have another image and i want it to do the same bounce ? I
have to re-keyframe again ? Can i copy the keyframes onto that image or
media clip. Or can i duplicate the first clip and replace only the image
in the copy while retaining all other properties that i already worked
hard on ?
Go to Options - customize keyboard - global.
-Type in Paste - paste event attributes - Set it to Ctrl+W - to paste all clip properties to another clip (first ctrl+c to copy it from one clip, then combo to paste all movement data and effects data to another clip - video sizes must match otherwise it'll go bad).

Hey there! That's a good question. I don't know if you can lock your cursor and have just the timeline move while playing/editing your clips. I'd have to do more research into that

@@ScrapyardFilms This has been s mainstay of Avid, I really don't understand why this isn't an option. So frustrating for the cursor going offscreen or blipping to the next section. Not helpful at all.

It seems counter intuitive that "preview quality" affects "render quality" I always thought it only affected what you saw in the preview window... I stand corrected!

Why does the preview quality affect the render quality? I set all my settings up for my project, then my saved render project at best... Does preview quality actually make a difference??? Confirmed?
Turns out it doesn't. The only benefit of that if that it allows you to EDIT faster, not render faster.

Can you do a video on how to edit out stunt strings in vegas i know Adobe has it but I dont see it in vegas
By stunt rings are you also meaning stunt ropes/wires and whatnot? If so, that's done by a painstakingly manual process of masking out the wires or using 3rd party plugins that can rotoscope it for you

MV TV never heard of a plug-in for this. It’s a manual process.

MV TV your going to need to play with, and practise, your masking skills. Ideally you would also want a shot of the scene without the actors (and with a still camera, or a camera doing the EXACT movements as your main shot. I haven’t tried it but I imagine it would be next to impossible with a hand held camera shot. There are heaps of tutorials on RUclips about masking, you just need to experiment, here’s one. ruclips.net/video/j186_AF6H8s/видео.html
I am a professional edittor. Recently, I really like Vegas pro 17 soft. I usually have to import video files from camera into this Ve pro 17. There are so many video footages each time importing, but I don't kown how to sort all THUMBNAIL video footages in media project tab by date or by media start as I can do in Premeire pro. So, it's very harf for me to edit. Help me, please!!!!!!!!
Question....We have old video's filmed from our cell phone's from about 8 years ago or maybe 10 years ago...our problem is we had the phone turned up and down when filming not sideways so the picture is not a full picture on our screen...is there anyway to get a full picture....we have a new youtube channel and want to use the old video's full screen but only have the part screens...is there anyway with Vegas Pro.17 to get those to full screen...
You should be able to fix that in any version of VEGAS by rotating it in the Pan/Crop window and then using "Distort" effect to stretch it wider if needed.
@@ScrapyardFilms Thanks for answering my question above...I will try to do what you have suggested, it sounds simple but we are 2 old brothers trying to figure this all out...we have never done this stuff before...do you have any video's showing this procedure? I will try it but knowing me it will be difficult to pull off...I will let you know if I can get it done or not...wish me luck....

This is Google's free cloud storage for all gmail users. Upload your file there. Once done, right click on it and click 'get shareable link'. Toggle the switch on and it will generate a download link. Copy that link and PM it to me over twitter or facebook and I'll take a look and see if I can help fix the issue
