The reason I'm here on RUclips is because I wanna prove to people that you can be anything in this world, I wanna travel the world, learn every language I can get my hands on, I wanna have fun well, I do that every time I press record😃
Main points mentioned in this video: 1. Investing in high-quality techs like laptops, mice, monitors, and speakers. 2. Stay organized. Create different folders for each editing part of your video. 3. Use SSD drivers. 4. Plug-ins, presets and shortcuts are your best friends.
I had a dinosaur computer from the late 90’s when I started doing videos for RUclips. It took me 2 hours to do one video and I had nothing but freeze ups and everything in between! I finally bought the right computer a few months ago and I was amazed how fast I could go and upload! Having the right stuff makes a huge difference!
Great video. The MX Master 3 mouse is amazing. A huge time ever. And I completely agree on using a Mac M1 and SSD. My old Mac kept crashing until I started using an SSD. You’re so right. Never use a hard drive! I’d add two more things. The first is another piece of equipment: the Elgato Stream Deck XL. This is a beast for editing. You can load it up with so many shortcuts (and not just for editing). This saves me hours. The second is a piece of software called Recut. It allows you to make an incredibly fast first cut. Really easy to use. Highly recommended.
I think the best tip you gave was to edit out as much as you can to tell the story. No, expensive equipment isn't the key. Thinking of what the potential viewer wants to see is like you mentioned. Keep the story moving! Dead air is....well... dead air!
Love the speaker idea & I really need that mouse. A good mouse is a game changer but I don’t have one dedicated to my MacBook. Cathrin Manning taught abt organizing files on her channel & that’s been helpful. But that hard drive was nice but it’s expensive! I started with the LaCie hard drive & it’s so much faster. Plus, Cathrin Manning only edits on her LaCie. Please do a video on how to edit on the hard drive bc I need that in my life.
Man this felt like this was the perfect video for me. Never realized how important the little things are for editing! This was a game changer;love the mouse pad btw 🤣 and any suggestions on how much you should pay for speakers?
The first tip is silly cause ya dont need good equipment to post content or even go viral. everyone has a camera on their phone and internet access and building a following should be the #1 tip honestly
Just purchase a MacBook Pro with the M1 chip I love it! I just recently started adding music to my videos and custom thumbnails. Still learning how to edit but Capcut has been just what I needed. I'm constantly learning from you guys! Thanks.
I hadn't had a hand cramp until recently, which is ironic because it wasn't more than what I had done before. But I'm definitely looking into an editing/ gaming mouse 😅
I wish that news videos on RUclips would put Date watermarks on their videos because RUclips is FULL of re-posted out-of-date-context videos, and reconstituted old videos.
man, stop recomending apple gear, you can start with half that money with a decent PC. And if you're willing to drop that money you can buy a proper editing PC. 8Gb of ram runs dry quite fast. Also you end up buying lots of adapters and disks when you can jsut put them all together inside a CPU and make them run smoothly. The mouse thing is super good, I like working with a trackball. And you can shave some dollars also at the begining with some nice headphones. I dont see the point on pairing a mobile laptop with desktop speakers.
Music has to have a place. It can't just run in the background. I have a TBI. It's damned difficult to separate someone talking from the background music. There are a lot of people like me. Your example of the ad with the background music - more annoying than useful.
Can you make a video or if you have one on organizing youtube content as well as where is it better to store it, online or on a hard drive. I've had 2 hard drives including famous lacie just giving up out of the blue. My Mac keeps rejecting lacie for example and it finally gave me an error and I can't access files. Thinking to keep everything on Drive?
@@socialmeaslesinpartnership1252 thank you!that's what I do, I don't have anything on my computer to allow it to run my programs smoothly but I have 2 failed external hard drives and lots of lost data that I'm thinking of moving everything to Drive?
Only thing I wouldn't recommend is the M1 MacBook Air. Cause it doesn't have any fans like the Pros do so you'll be beating it up and it'll warm up and won't have anything to cool it down! The M1 Air could take it, but the pro's will have more spec options and it'll you edit longer without burning your laptop alive haha. Great video!!!
You're still living in the dark ages using a keyboard for editing. Get a gaming keypad like a Razer Orbweaver/Tatrarus V2, or a logitech G13, and program your hotkeys/macros into the gamepad. Also, there are way better mice with even more buttons for macro programming. Logitech G502 comes to mind. At the very least though, invest in a programmable gamepad, for a nice productivity boost.
When i record my audio with DJI wireless mic - audio is faster than my image or oposite do you Know why ? Everything is same 48khz, 30fps 4k, timeline in final cut is 48khz but longer the video, more is the delay. I have two DJI mic combo (one is ok second has delay), firmware is same every setting is same...

@@staceylewisdesigns I figured out how it works. You have to apply it to the yearly billing option and that code gives you 1/2 off the yearly price. Still get a free month so wouldn't get charged until a month after. For the personal it makes it $54 for the year which is $4.50 a month and not a bad deal.

portable/ external drives do not call them ssds, they are not the same thing since external drives are not hardwired to your motherboard they will be slower btw
I can't afford good equipment, just editing on my phone 😅 hope that doesn't hurt me lol. But I appreciate the tips, maybe some day I'll need this advice
I have never been a fan of the apple mouse a cheap gaming mouse and an apple adapter is a much better solution if you don't want to spend a hundrend dollars on a mouse
Seriously? You're advice is to buy thousands of dollars of equipment? Being a new youtuber I have no budget for that. I work on a Windows laptop with an ordinary mouse with my raw video and everything on a hdd because I cannot afford a SSD.... That's how it starts: no money. None. Nothing. Nada.
Somewhat ironically after tip 8 I stopped watching as I don't think I was getting value from this video. If I click on a video that is titled 10 editing tips I feel like 'buy a better macbook' or, 'buy a plugin' or 'buy epidemic sound' aren't actually tips at all. At least not something that I can implement as a small creator. Usually Nolan's vids are far more direct, and actionable, this felt like a filler video.

The organized thing is huge. I have a batch file on my SSD that automatically creates all the folders for each project.
"Getting organized" that is why I am right now trying to figure how to treat this as a Full-Time job, while in University and working a 9-5 job.
