I love it when you said, "You got to start by being bad" It brings comfort to me that it's okay to be a bad editor or storyteller, just do it, record a video, and upload it.
1. Stop worrying what other’s think about your videos, they got their own problems 2. Rather than trying to plan everything in advance, focus on improving your content through experimentation and trying things out 3. You have less competition by making very specific and niched down content helps 4. Build a system that makes it easier to produce content 5. Make the Title and Thumbnail first 6. Front-load your effort into the fist 30 seconds of your video 7. Starting out, the quality of your content is more important than gear 8. Identify your unfair advantages, something that makes it harder to compete with you 9. Outsource video editing asap, frees up tons of time
Before I started my channel, I have watched several videos on how to grow a RUclips channel. One major thing I learned from all these videos is to simply FOCUS ON YOUR CONTENT AND IMPROVING EVERYDAY I believe once you enjoy the process and not too clung on the numbers, and focus on learning and improving your videos, the numbers will eventually follow suit. I see content creation as an endless journey of learning, improvement and discovery. 🤗
I used to be so worried about my parents and relatives stumbling upon my channel and thinking it's lame, telling me to focus more on my full-time job.. However, the first step I took was sharing it with my parents. To my surprise, they were all about supporting me, no judgments whatsoever. So now, as I keep on creating content, I'm feeling way more relaxed about the whole thing.
I am an introvert so filming videos is uncomfortable. I realized growth does not come from a place of comfort. 2024 it’s my goal to slowly start doing more videos.
I took the archeologist route, I was just trying different things and one just stuck, now my channel is growing more and more, good luck to everyone’s channel, I wish you all success, keep going and STAY CONSISTENT💪❤️
Hey y’all, what’s the trick for us small channels to grow when the big accounts are buying their way up with tools like social plus and social blade? It kinda sucks to be grinding with no results. Wishing you all good luck out there!
“Your niche will emerge overtime” - biggest takeaway for me. I’m working on a new direction of my channel and now realize I may do that many times in this content creation journey until I find what works and what I’m passionate about to make great content. Thank you 🙏🏽
Yes, just take a look at my channel, I've changed the name of it and my content so many times over the years, and now I'm on a serious journey to get my channel going in my new direction. Side Hustle Ideas, and how to make money online. I have 27 years of self-taught experience online with starting, growing, and selling online businesses. One I sold for a $50,000 profit and another for a $30,000 profit. The others were less, but it's still been an exciting journey. ;-)
The second i realized no one cared -- i wondered why then should i care? I stopped updating for every little thing that was going on in my life. I stopped complaining. I focused on improving and enjoying the process. I stayed in my own lane. Stopped caring about the numbers. The success eventually followed.
Agree! I architect-ed my first videos. They tanked because I didn't know how to make videos or tell stories. Then I switched to the "archeologist" tactic because I knew I needed way more skill before going back to the reason (and topic) for which I have a passion. I wasn't being an archeologist to figure out my niche, I just want to figure out the basics of video story telling. I'm still on that "archeologist" phase. Did a 30 day video making challenge where I tried to make a video a day to get reps in with new software, etc. I'm still an infant but I think I'm getting close to getting off the hands and knees and running like a true wild toddler! Lets go!
Yes!!!! I started playing ukulele, then did kayak camping…then art videos… then talking about my newly started journey as a mature age engineering student…. and then rediscovered amateur radio (ham radio). 2 years into the ham radio and I’m monetised. …as of yesterday 😝.
I always think it's weird that so many RUclips videos start out with the creator making some long apology because they haven't uploaded one in a couple weeks, like we've all been sitting here just waiting for their video.
The biggest lesson for me was the importance of storytelling. Ed (Film Booth) taught this to me. I always thought people just wanted information, but most people won't watch unless they're being entertained. It's one of the reasons why Hamza grew so fast. He's a great storyteller. It's the most underrated skill for RUclipsrs.
We started our RUclips channel this year, we are also going through our own struggles with it. One important thing we did, We have not shared our RUclips channel with any of the family member, relative or not even with friends because if and when you fail they all just come and laugh at you, criticize you. It is better to work silently
The thing that was holding me back for a long time before I've started RUclips was worrying about what other people will think of me especially people who know me, but now I'm glad I've started and I've only told 2 closest people about it. Not matter what you do, people will always have something to say, so think about what you want and don't worry about others, you live your life for yourself! :)
I went the other way. I blasted all my friend's andfamily about because nothing gets more views than people that might want to 'hate' on you. But I found that was only in my mind. They were actually excited and were the first followers. They may feel FOMO but it only matters what you feel about you. Let those gutters be gutters while you geyser through the stratosphere!
Talking quickly and showing a lot of visual examples is extremely engaging for your viewers that will keep them all the way through. You totally nailed this thank you.
Totally True, everything he says.I am still learning many things with my channel and I mostly regret that I was to hesitant to start earlier because this whole process and grow really takes time.
About an year ago when I discovered your channel, you were at 3.53 subs or something like that and one year later, you've managed to increase it by more than a million. That's some serious growth!
Great advice... especially the first tip, as we need to remind ourselves (not just with RUclips, but life in general) that other people are too busy and caught up in their own chaos to truly care or even notice what you are or are not doing. When you figure this out, it takes a lot of pressure off of things. Also LOVE your approach to systems (and batching). This is again so key to success on and away from RUclips.
This video was so helpful for me! Even though I've been doing youtube for 5 years, I still feel like there's always SO much to learn and so many ways to improve :)
Don't lie! We all knew why we watched this video, right? If you're starting a new channel like me, don't give up and just keep grinding. Remember, "Rome wasn't built in a day".
I wish I had watched this video before starting my own faceless RUclips channel! These tips are so helpful and would have saved me so much time and trial-and-error. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and experience, it's never too late to learn and improve as a content creator. Recently, I discovered Famester and leveled up my channel even more. Keep up the great work!
I watched your videos years ago. The first time I was gonna start a RUclips channel. I spent thousands of dollars made tons of plans never made a single video today. I’m making two videos for two different channels and you are my inspiration in a way.
I am a med student from Bangladesh and I started writing online thanks to Ali. I have created a complete freelance business out of it. Now I have started my own youtube channel too. You have been an inspiration and these tips really help. Thank Ali as always!
I posted a video today that I worked really, really hard on - and 3 hours later, it’s has 23 views! I was re-evaluating my life when I saw this. I really do love creating content - Thank you for inspiring me to keep going!
Once Mark Zuckerberg said ,, "nobody does when they begin,, ideas don't come fully formed,,they are clear as you work on them,,all you have to do is just get started"..❤
Exactly. This especially applies to making a thumbnail and a title. I totally disagree that these components come first. Before production I know just a general idea of the outcome and most of the time the final result is different. It's the same as with writing a book Steven King's way: the story leads the author. I don't disagree that some people or let it be the majority of experienced creators who come to the idea of making a thumbnail and the title first. It just doesn't work in MY CASE.
@@TroyQwert I don't think he meant it dogmatically. As far as having a system for making your multiple ongoing videos, it is probably a good organizational "method" to make a series of thumbnails and tiltes first. This does not mean that you are discounting your creative storytelling self which is the source of your art. I don't think this method has to impede your creative freedom. Rather, it seems like a smart way to deliver to your intended audience.
You guys are always like if you’re reading this don’t give up… if you’re just starting don’t give up keep pushing, but many of you will never take few seconds to just quickly subscribe to someone’s channel just to support them. How do you encourage people without support??
I love how blunt and to the point this video is. Unlike most videos on this topic, there's no sugarcoating, no beating a dead horse, and no unfounded advice. Definitely will put this in my fancy little playlist of resources and keep these tips in mind as I hoard both 100 copies of The Bee Movie and 100 pounds of obesity (WoW player).
As a new RUclipsr, I can relate to the challenges you faced and the valuable lessons you've learned are truly inspiring. I must say It's incredibly generous of you to offer these insights to others in the RUclips community. The truth is we all start somewhere, and your advice will undoubtedly help many creators like myself navigate our RUclips journeys more confidently. Thank you for taking the time to create this thoughtful and informative content!
Thanks for this! I’m disabled now in my 30’s and making videos keeps me happy but worried that people I know might judge me because it’s not good enough 😊
I must say this video was a huge help! As a tiny nobody channel, it's a passion project that I'd love to see grow and I really do appreciate the time you took to make this! It's definitely been a love/hate relationship starting a podcast in a oversaturated scene right now.
Dude literally got straight to the point, not some stupid intro, not rambling on about everything, literally got straight to the point and used examples from his own videos. I don't even know who this guy is but he just earned a subscriber
Thank you Dr. Abdal! You are the first RUclipsr who TRULY gets it! So many other RUclips succes channels tell their audience that to be successful on youtube it only takes hard work, but that's simply not true. I have found this out from my own research. This video has helped me a lot.
This video is gold, it's giving me so much drive and courage to finally pursue my YT plans that I'll need to watch it again and again, until I finally decide to upgrade my YT game. Thank you so much for all your incredible advices ✨
2:40 is so true I know so many people who love to plan so many things in advance while I just keep on creating and going on exercising the process of filmmaking. While many of the people plan so much, they often will not start doing anything because, architects are stuck on youtube ^^
I’m learning to not be so critical of myself and it’s what led me to start a channel. It’s coming along slowly but I’m glad I finally took that chance on myself.
You guys are always like if you’re reading this don’t give up… if you’re just starting don’t give up keep pushing, but many of you will never take few seconds to just quickly subscribe to someone’s channel just to support them. How do you encourage people without support??
I almost cried watching this video, it made me feel like I'm going on the right path! I started my RUclips channel this week, yesterday I published my first video I´ brasilian. Quase chorei assistindo esse vídeo, me fez sentir que estou indo no caminho certo! Comecei meu canal no RUclips essa semana, ontem publiquei o meu primeiro vídeo.
Consistency with almost anything is probably the most important way to find success. I always try to over complicate things, but doing something is better than doing nothing haha
Nice list. I think you're right about these items- I'd add that RUclips (and the internet) are still ridiculously underrated and it's not too late to start!
As a long time professional RUclipsr I’m going to agree and disagree with the statement “nobody cares”. I’ve been posting since 2012 and trust me, ALLOT OF PEOPLE CARE. Some just care more than others.
Solid advice as always Ali. Been on RUclips for over two years and still doing my archaelogy project! Eventually I know the digging will be worthwhile!
I can say right now I’m experimenting with how to capture people into my videos with how I start them, and what strategies work best with what type of video. It’s the part where a lot of people quit as they get unmotivated from not getting attention after putting in sweat and tears, but I now if I just stay consistent and take notes on how it goes after each video I’ll get there someday
This is true. As a beatmaker, at first I made content with me not being in the video. But then I realized this after wondering for so long why a lot of friends and family didn't watch my content. I started to notice what you are saying in this video. So I started uploading videos of myself in it, as a means of getting comfortable in front of the camera and just practicing at becoming better. Now I'm just working on making better quality content. Hopefully next year this time, I can look back and see if I made any major progress. Thank you for this.
I just saw a decent channel with videos where the person did upload themselves. Some videos got 15 or 20 views after several months. Not even that can help.
I went through your skillshare class, and I really appreciate how you honestly say "nobody cares about your videos", because it's true, and it's so liberating. Kill that perfectionist in you, I feel like these words really helped me with my perfectionism issue. I really appreciate your content. Also the fact you were a FULL TIME MEDICAL STUDENT DOING THIS is insane. People like you amaze me, since I myself struggled with productivity all my life.
As an introvert, filming videos can be quite challenging for me. However, I've come to understand that growth often occurs outside of our comfort zones. In 2024, I aim to gradually create more videos. Thanks Ali!
This was the best RUclips video I have ever watched. You've just confirmed every single aspect of all that I have experienced during the 3 years I am actively uploading. You have great energy and way to express your thoughts on camera. Wish you all the best, respect from Bulgaria 👊🏼🔥
I think the biggest struggle for me is the idea of creating content just to keep the matrix high, I mean yeah I'd like yo grow on this platform but I'm just scared of being stagnant and only creating content for people to stay instead of creating content that I too resonate with . I highly believe resonation ,love , and just having much knowledge about whatever topic we're passionate about will truly beam through ones content, I'm not sure what you think or the others think?
I feel the same. I'm sure that if you're passionate about what you're doing, you'll be consistent and then you get better and then people will recognize you. I'd lose myself and my authenticity if I'd started to make videos just for the views and the algorithm.
I like your field of view. I see so many people saying you need to figure out your niche you need to figure out you. And honestly I think your right. You just need to make content and see when where and how you get attention and build off of it. Thank you
I love how you did not waste a second of my time Ali, thanks. I feel excited, inspired with ideas and you made me feel like it is possible. No bullshit. I felt your kindness, presence and desire to give not just sell or take. Thanks for the humanity and charm. Love from, a highly sophisticated, intelligent and attractive person like yourself
Your RUclips channel is absolutely amazing! The content you create is both entertaining and informative,The production quality, creativity, and passion you put into your videos are evident in every frame. keeping me hooked with every video. Keep up the fantastic work, you're doing a fantastic job! 😊👍
Remember when I came across one of your videos, you weren't this popular. I can see why you're one of the best storytellers and personalities on youtube. Your content is top of the top and love your approach and knowledge. Thank you Ali ! PS. Dope editing. As always ! Who's doing videos for you ? :D
03:38 That is so true ! I started by talking about early bilingualism, 400 videos later I decided it is enough. Started to document my journey in network marketing, but nobody cares (A few more hundreds videos which did not work). I created a show, a live on thursday night in which I explained stuff about network marketing and business, during 151 weeks ! I had a small traction but I got bored having no really traction outside 10 people. I stopped more or less using RUclips for 2 years. I started table tennis in competition at the age of 51, and I realized I could tell this story "I started table tennis competition at the age of 51 with the goal to become a pro". It's laughable, it's funny, I tell stories and put the pictures of almost all matches, I comment them. It's a huge work but it helped me attract an audience who plays table tennis and can watch up to 42 minutes just to see me lose at the last set ! It works ! Some people really like it and give me pages long advices in the comments. Some trainers in my region have started filming their youth to analyze like I do !
I just started my first channel and I’m trying to grow it using shorts only. I still have a lot to learn and I understand it will be a long journey. So thank you for the great tips!
Good for you. Mine is the opposite, I wanted it to grow using long form content only but when I posted shorts, it went for a few thousand views, even my "thank you for 10 subs" shorts gained 2K views atm. I wanted my long form to succeed, not my shorts.
Understanding that my family and friends may not be the right audience for my content was a big relief. I found the idea of thinking like both an archaeologist, digging to find my niche, and an architect, building it carefully, really helpful. This will guide me in creating a unique direction for my channel by looking at what people want and what's not being offered much yet.
Thank you for the niche advice! It really affirmed me as I’ve been working as an archeologist on my social media platforms & it feels uncertain sometimes. I will keep going! 💜
Great video Ali! I really relate to educational content's first 30 second retention drop off. Even though it happens quite a lot, I've realized that you'd have to really change the way you present the video topic to make even the slightest difference.
I was stalling on starting my YT (this page) for four years. not sure what happened one day but I realized this truth that you highlight - nobody gives a damn - and here we are. launched 1.5wks ago and upwards from here.
I need to pause the video halfway through to share my thoughts. Wow, just... wow. I find myself in the exact spot you mentioned. Despite creating videos that seem to go unnoticed, I'm still committed to exploring, learning, and uncovering new things. Hearing your insights from someone who's already traversed this path truly inspires me to persevere. Thank you. Now, back to soaking in the rest of the video.
I feel like every single one of these types of RUclips creator advice videos comes down to - forget about creating what you love, create whatever feeds the algorithm. I start every one of these videos hopeful and leave a little bit depressed. The big appeal - to me - in making content is the idea of supporting yourself through art and creativity. On the surface it seems fairly possible, but when you start looking at the details it becomes readily apparent that it's extremely rare. I've no doubt that virtually every single person who has made one of these videos would argue against my conclusion, but it is what it is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I also feel that it will get you even more connected with what you love. for example, I love being a SAHM but people dont want to hear about me going on and on about how cute my kids are; however they may want a detailed video on how to cloth diaper when you dont even know where to start. I got some good tipe too!
This is why there are no counter-culture figures today. Everyone is chasing the algorithm, chasing money. Art for the sake of consumption, not art to invite participation in the mystery of life.
The beginning for most things is pretty brutal. You’ve got the learning curve plus trying to build a habit plus literally no one will watch your videos haha It’s really a long term growth type of mindset, otherwise it’s easy to feel hopeless
one of the hidden lessons from this video is that what you can offer to the world is what you can actually do. What I mean is that your multi-passionate self is telling you to embrace yourself, do the things that you can do, and then eventually you'll be able to give value to one's life.
As a newbie content creator, I used to fret about judgment and criticism from my initial audience. But your insights gave me the confidence to start content creation fearlessly. Now, I've launched my own channel called @LaunchIdea, and it's all thanks to your wisdom. Keep inspiring us!
I have been doing this for 9 years completely by myself. While I have grown, I really wish I had a coach to help me get more solidified in my process and systems.
Ali, I wish I'd discovered your channel 10 years ago!!! (before you started your channel LOL) Thanks for putting all this amazing free content out there - I've learnt so, so much from you; your content gave me the courage to start my own YT channel earlier this year! I absolutely cannot wait to read your book when it comes out this year (have pre-ordered the ebook version!) Keep up the great work, lots of love from your "fan girl" 🤩
15:15 I love editing so I outsourced writing scenarios instead, my writer is amazing, I couldn't write so good, retired writer has introduced me to this man.
I haven't watched your vids in a little while. The production quality is through the roof! I really liked how fast you got to the meat of the video, no fluffy intro, no barrage of teasy phrases to make us watch to the end, just straight to delivering the value, and equally at the end, you just wrapped up and got outta here, great times. You got 100% completion rate out of me instead of 88%! 👌 That first one, I dunno. People seem to care, I get so many comments like "How's your influencer career going", or they'll imitate an intro to a video, or play it in front of people. They may not care that much, they may be a little jealous and are being dicks because of it, but it's enough to validate that people are watching, they will mock you, and they will pull you down. So YOU need to get to not caring what THEY think, as soon as possible because it does hold a guy back! Front loading videos was a huge takeaway I had that I've overlooked so much. Sometimes I'm hours into an edit keeping the animations consistent and really I should just get to the meat and potatoes. +1 for outsource your editing, our time is better spent elsewhere indeed! Good times, Cheers Ali
I love this concept of Architect vs. archaeologist. I can see that may apply in my types of businesses too - not just you tube videos. I love that you shared this. It does take a lot of failure and letting go of those failures to figure out what might be successful. Thank you for sharing.
RUclips was something I wanted to do for about 10 years but couldn't do because I was worried about what people around me would think. I finally decided to do it 2 months ago. Even though my view count is very low right now, I am happy to have realized a dream that I have wanted for a long time. I hope everyone in here will improve themselves as they wish✌🏻☺️
This came just in time, I just filmed showing my face for the first time after a few years and my exact thought was what you have shared here. Thank you for this video, which is so timely. It’s like you have somehow read my mind. Coming from my idol, gives me so much more confidence to face the camera. Thank you again. ❤❤❤
My main lesson that I have learned it to just record! Stop worrying about the video not being perfect, get content out there otherwise you will keep putting uploads off!
As always, a super helpful and insightful video - thank you 🙏 Without you I would still procrastinate about starting a channel. But after you pushed me into the cold water on an Eric Partaker Zoom call and encouraged me to post a video once a week so many amazing things have happened. Yes, I am still too scared to tell family and friends that I am on RUclips but I have been contacted by the most amazing people who felt touched by my videos. Again that's thanks to you as you said 'just do videos that could help at least one person'. Watching your video today I realised I def need a system. I only spend 1-2h on RUclips a week, and literally thinking about a title and description as the video uploads. My thumbnails are usually just a screenshot with a little something on top, if even 😂 The videos where I tried to add a few bits of stock footage didn't actually perform as well as the once where I just pressed record. But I wonder what's possible if I might actually hire an editor. I know exactly what style I would like but just haven't got the time to do it. Do you have any data on how much editors charge and is it per hour or length of video? Thank again for all your no-bs help and encouragement! 🙌
Of all the RUclips Channel starter videos I have watched this is quite possibly the best video I have ever seen (and watched all 16 minutes and 52 seconds) out of all the thousands I have clicked on, spent 5 seconds watching and saying 'nobody got time for dat!'. I'm a Brit, I'm 60 and I'm about to start my own RUclips channel. And because of Ali Abdaal, and only Ali Abdaal, I know I can do it. Sign me up! I'm going to do your course.
As someone who is building a home studio to get started on RUclips, this is one of the most interesting and valuable videos I have watched since... forever.
My kids think I'm super embarrassing and begged me not to make a youtube channel because they feared their classmates would make fun of them. I tried to make it a teaching moment because we really shouldn't care about what other people think especially when we're trying to explore our interests. Middle schoolers won't care if someone's mom is making dumb youtube videos no one watches, right? RIGHT?
Just subbed you keep at Scarborough fair beautiful song. I started my channel during a break up needed something to focus on keep me occupied etc my kids all supported me efforts 7 years on only one still watches my stuff the other two have better things to do haha
My daughter has a friend whose mother has a tiktok. It's pretty lame. I did laugh. It was something worth watching , I'd have respected that. But no one wants to see her sitting at her desk, close up face holding a pencil trying to be cute. My daughter makes sure her friends dont see my channel. Lol
Oh my god this is so relevant to me. I started a RUclips channel but my kids are worried their friends will find out and will make fun of them. I wanted the channel to be about my life, travel and bring an Asian parent but it’s so hard to get them to participate in my videos.
Thank you for this. So informative and entertaining at the same time. Question: If you're taking the archeologist approach, would you start a different channel every time you switch niches? What if you're testing several niches at once...do you do so on the same channel? (Assume they are unrelated.)
This makes so much sense. Great video. You are so right about the analogy of archaeologist or architect. I think people don’t take action when they overthink something. There is so much good information in this video.
I appreciate this advice. I recently decided to start my channel after a long time debating on it. It is such a weird feeling going from being a photographer behind the camera to putting myself out there in front of it, let alone making videos! Super excited to start my journey and learn along the way
Just uploaded my 4th youtube video. I don't want to care what anyone thinks of me and just do it this time. Fingers crossed and praying my channel grows everyday. Thank you, Ali for your videos.
I made my first video as a joke. I posted it to my facebook for my family. That video no longer exists. Then a friend in 2018 wanted to do youtube videos. I told her I had a channel but only one video. I challenged her to try it. She is a perfectionist and now in 2024 is practici g edits and equipment but still no videos. I on the other hand have hundreds. I wanted to prove a point. Anyone can do it. I went from 2 subs to now, 1890 subs. I don't make much. Like 300 a year. But I am not serious. Still my crappy android. No lighting. Now I do it for my elderly and widowed viewers. ❤
#1 Got me straight into posting my very first video to be honest. Just accepting the fact that it ain't gonna be the best (albeit, you actually put effort into it), and nobody cares can be pretty powerful to get anyone started.
I love hearing about your journey Ali. I'm currently in the archeologist stage. I know the general value I can bring based on my background and experience, but I'm experimenting with the right angle. Your insights are extremely helpful. TY!
I want to help people learn to cook plant based - the market is saturated but it’s my passion. My roadblock is that I just need to do it! I like how you are saying “look folks don’t care…just so it!” I need to stop overthinking and worrying about if I look or sound silly!
I have hours of unreleased footage practicing. Now Im ready. If I would start over I would make 2 youtube channels. The prototype and the real thing. So after I got my niche and groove, all I have to do is just go! Good video mate.
WOAAAAA! I hope you won't stop giving value to one's life, Ali. And I hope that this 2024 I can also become so generous and genuine just like you and also give value to someone's life.

I needed this after watching the video.
Thanks for this break down❤
Thank you... I will write this in front of my desk/computer as a reminder.
Thank you so much.
I am a RUclips video watcher and I confirm, I do not care about RUclips videos.
Good to know 👍🏻
Yeah same
You care about what the video brings right or wrong ? The constant it portrays
@@ayofabricioyou sound like a nerd taking an ironic comment seriously

I used to be so worried about my parents and relatives stumbling upon my channel and thinking it's lame, telling me to focus more on my full-time job.. However, the first step I took was sharing it with my parents. To my surprise, they were all about supporting me, no judgments whatsoever. So now, as I keep on creating content, I'm feeling way more relaxed about the whole thing.
Your decision of being a RUclipsr would've been different if your parents disapprove?
I get it! I’ve had my channel 8 years ago and I’m barely committing to it this year because my ego was in the way! Hope your channel grows, friend! 🌸

I always know when you make your first video you won't make a lot of views but it still feels sad when you put a lot of effort into a video
.
I am an introvert so filming videos is uncomfortable. I realized growth does not come from a place of comfort. 2024 it’s my goal to slowly start doing more videos.
Me too. I feel you. Good luck with your journey.

I just started a faceless youtube channel, i get anxiety of being in videos

I took the archeologist route, I was just trying different things and one just stuck, now my channel is growing more and more, good luck to everyone’s channel, I wish you all success, keep going and STAY CONSISTENT💪❤️
Hey y’all, what’s the trick for us small channels to grow when the big accounts are buying their way up with tools like social plus and social blade? It kinda sucks to be grinding with no results. Wishing you all good luck out there!
Waaah
“Your niche will emerge overtime” - biggest takeaway for me. I’m working on a new direction of my channel and now realize I may do that many times in this content creation journey until I find what works and what I’m passionate about to make great content. Thank you 🙏🏽
Noone cares
that's sooo true
The success eventually followed.
i started you tube in this week and will try my best 💪💪💪💪💪thanks for your advice and tips
Lets go!
Great advice, thanks!
Yes!!!! I started playing ukulele, then did kayak camping…then art videos… then talking about my newly started journey as a mature age engineering student…. and then rediscovered amateur radio (ham radio). 2 years into the ham radio and I’m monetised. …as of yesterday 😝.
What is mature engineering student.... 32 or older?
@@awpetersen5909ummmm I think in Australia it is 25 and up but I was in my 50’s.

Thank you for mentioning Ed.
Great point! I agree with you 💯. Just look at Van Neistat (the spirited man). He is such an awesome storyteller
Yes, not everyone can tell a story where you can get lost in a story as if reading a book. It's a gift ❤
We started our RUclips channel this year, we are also going through our own struggles with it. One important thing we did, We have not shared our RUclips channel with any of the family member, relative or not even with friends because if and when you fail they all just come and laugh at you, criticize you. It is better to work silently
Agreed
That’s what I’m doing. I have no support from anyone. I always do everything so much better when I don’t tell anyone and just do it.
☮️💜
I am ready to make the step. Only way to go is to start 😅
If your family and friends will come make fun of you there not true family and friends.
Yes, many people behave horribly these days. Shut 'em out; don't waste your time.
Same here! I haven't put myself out there yet but I'm just dipping my toe in. Lol
Talking quickly and showing a lot of visual examples is extremely engaging for your viewers that will keep them all the way through. You totally nailed this thank you.
Talking quickly is NOT a good technique.
@@brucemacmillan9581 but it worked for him - explain!
@brucemacmillan9581 I agree, it's exhausting to listen to.

2:40 is so true
I know so many people who love to plan so many things in advance while I just keep on creating and going on exercising the process of filmmaking. While many of the people plan so much, they often will not start doing anything because, architects are stuck on youtube ^^
I’m learning to not be so critical of myself and it’s what led me to start a channel. It’s coming along slowly but I’m glad I finally took that chance on myself.

As a starting RUclipsr myself, this video is timely and very helpful to me. Thanks Ali!
Agree 💯
Two ways to look at life. No one cares ☹️. Or.. No one cares! 🕺🏻
But we do care

How do you always come up with the right video at the right time?
This is just in time for me. 😅Can’t wait to watch it!
💯 agreed.
I also feel that it will get you even more connected with what you love. for example, I love being a SAHM but people dont want to hear about me going on and on about how cute my kids are; however they may want a detailed video on how to cloth diaper when you dont even know where to start. I got some good tipe too!
Yeah. I guess if I still find that stuff intersting I could change things up. I'm still trying to figure out what prople like that I'm willing to do.
exactly! and I think if we small youtubers stay involved and connect we will make it!@@MarylandDevin
This is why there are no counter-culture figures today. Everyone is chasing the algorithm, chasing money. Art for the sake of consumption, not art to invite participation in the mystery of life.
Another excellent and insightful video from Ali. Thank you for your generosity in all you do.
The beginning is hard. but videos like this keep us going Ali. Thank you for the knowledge.
The beginning for most things is pretty brutal.
You’ve got the learning curve plus trying to build a habit plus literally no one will watch your videos haha
It’s really a long term growth type of mindset, otherwise it’s easy to feel hopeless
one of the hidden lessons from this video is that what you can offer to the world is what you can actually do.
That first one, I dunno.
