ya, to update the ways to fix vegas is so important for many users, since the manufacturer doesnt care as much
Another tip: I use Vegas for editing my audio theater podcast and sometimes have 20 audio layers, plus busses, all with a variety of filters, compressors and other effects attached. Even though there is no video involved, the program gets sluggish, glitchy and becomes very frustrating. However, I found that by setting both the Preferences/Audio Device/Playback Buffering and Track Buffering to their maximums, you can push things pretty far before Vegas starts to complain.
Dude, I couldn't find what was wrong and then I noticed that on 4:16 my intel gpu was auto selected so my 3090 wouldn't even do all the lifting and rendering was SO SLOW! Thank you so much!
Any ideas why my Vegas 19 keeps getting "Vegas is not responding" error? Occurs about 10 times in a day, normally when I import stuff to Vegas.
Hard to pinpoint the exact reason. Could be running out of RAM and could be the types of files you're importing. HEVC coded files are very terrible for editing. VEAS also doesn't like .MOV files that much. MKV's are a nightmare. Ultra high quality videos can cause issues over time if you don't proxy them, too
I had the same exact problem you're describing, in vegas 16 and then I bought vegas 2022 and the problem still existed. I went to vegas help, check software updates, check driver updates, and found my gpu driver was not the newest. I updated it and the problem went away.
I use a converter and change all video files to MP4. The only thing that actually solves it
Wow, that Unquantized event trick helped a lot. I'm editing video with different framerates, so it exposed a bunch of little gaps between my clips that were extremely hard to see otherwise. Thank you!

Probably great advice, but it's still crashing way, way too much. :c
Finally, I found someone who posted a normal working crack!
Step 4 (2:43) fixed my performance completely! And it really makes sense, as I was editing/trimming HUGE 5+ hour stream vods for videos. Turns out it was the thumbnails messing with the performance!
Another tip I would have suggested is on Preferences then to click onto Depreciated Features and turning on QuickTime Player this simple fix helps support videos from iPhone or MOV file types :D

not sure if this happened just for me, but enabling AVC decoding caused a weird issue: opening my project again after restarting VEGAS brought me the following error "the proper stream could not be found in the media file".
this made one of my recordings' audio tracks go completely mute, and on another clip, the audio clip trims were misplaced (like the audio was moved a bit to the left or right, but still preserving the original trims).
fortunately, turning AVC decoding off again has reverted my project to its 'healthy' state, but yeah. thought to mention this, maybe it'll help someone else.

4:13 That just fixed a problem i was having. An old video from 2014, filmed in 59 fps, was playing too fast and finishing early on my 25/29,7 fps project (i tried both), but the audio kept running normal. That or the segments weren't even visible. Thank you!
Thank you for this. This "seems" to have fixed the many problems I was having with Vegas Pro 21 bld 315. I say "seems" because I need to work with it for awhile. The two settings I couldn't find was the Open CL/GL Interop and GPU acceleration for Windows presentation. Seems the interface has changed from VP 19-VP21.

Hey, I'm having quite a few issues with my Vegas 19. I recently upgraded from 16 to see if that would improve performance but 19 actually runs far slower. I don't think it's my computer since I use a 3090 with a 5950x and 64 GB of RAM, but whenever I try to click into an audio track on the timeline, VEGAS slows down completely and takes about 5 seconds to buffer. Then if I click to anywhere else on the timeline, it takes another 5 seconds to buffer. It's a weird issue that never happened in 16. Would you happen to have any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated! Also, thanks for the helpful vids.
sounds like, you have "close media files when not the active application" enabled.
Lol they still didn't get rid of problem with HEVC and 10bits files. It's annoying when you want to edit 10 bit and must use slow, old decoding methods ... They boast about RAW files and cannot fix basic things from version 16.
Agreed. But now since there will be no "new" versions of VEGAS anymore and this current version will just continue to be upgraded for years to come, that also means they will be able to finally fix these problems rather than include them in newer versions.

For me, it always crash when rendering (random, it can be at 2% or over 70%). I have that on 3 of my computer (3 have different hardware). I render long video, 1 hour of video with an intro, ending and logo on screen. I have than only on the V19, actually, all rendering that have crashed have been sucefully render with the V18. So i dont think the problem is on my side if crashes occurs on all on my computer and all rendering is successfull on the V18 ^^
i have a threadripper and a 3080 and my preview runs so badly and nothing helps :(

ProRes 4444 Files don't work in this version for me for some reason, If I go to "Premulitiplied" it won't remove the black. Any suggestions?
Interesting. ProRes4444 files work for me. I know that you have to make sure that Legacy AVC is UNCHECKED and that in the Deprecated Features to make sure to allow .MOV files. Give that a shot.

Hmm. Whenever I'm installing a newer version, I always hold control+shift while double clicking the desktop icon and then deleting application data while resetting the program. Usually fixes all glitches. Maybe that can help
Hi, When I use "colorization" plus animation (croping the old photo), my computer (quite solid) shuts down immediately (overheating?)

with the latest update this program renders black video and no longer works stable and 12 hours of rendering time wasted
i am not happy with the latest program
this problem was not present in previous versions
using 6700k + rx 580 8gb
maybe upgrading a pc after prices will come cheaper

Gigachad tutorial. Absolutely zero crashes now and also preview works like charm almost no shutter.
And a reminder, don't bring 4K clips into a 1080P project. You'll think everything is OK until rendering , then its glitch city. If there is a way to work around this let me know!

Vegas 19 has been almost unusable because of how often it crashes (on my not very cheap RTX3080 nonetheless ☹️). I am excited to try these out. I will report back if the situation improves.

Well, we need mkv supported to vegas:v
MKV's are already supported in VEGAS. It's experimental though. Look in the File I/O tab

Is there a fix for splash screen freezing during 'initializing external monitors" not opening? I have to restart PC to get it to work... There's on video is this fix and didn't work.. Anyone else have this problem?
+1 for turning off "GPU acceleration for windows presentation". I was getting a crash during rendering - this fixed it. Wasted HOURS on it, glad to find this video - thank you.

Where is "Internal" in Vegas 20.0 ? Can't find
idk if someone can help me, but i use vegas pro 18 and have some bad problems with it... when i use keyframes and then close my program and start it up again after 2 days or so then all my keyframes are moved to the left... and i just dont know how to fix it. Can someone help me with this? thanks a lot!

You are my last hope. Thanks for the video. I use VP19 with a lot of Multicam stuff and it's been just horrendous recently. My system probably could do with upgrade but isn't bad with a 5Ghz I7 8086, 32G RAM and an RTK 2080 Graphics card. Thanks for the suggestions in the video!

Please ignore step 7 if you do not see any glitches in the user interface (the reason is outside of VEGAS with some ACER Sonic applications)... otherwise some controlls within Vegas will be drawn with CPU and not with GPU acceleration.
how is it bad thing, I have 16c32t cpu which does nothing anyway.
@@322DOTA2 The CPU is not optimized for this task and because of software rendering the user interface (slider, wheels) could run not smoothly on older CPUs. If you see glitches in the user interface (different reports in the user forum) go on with step 7 and otherwise keep the DirectX acceleration for drawing the UI (which is no effort for the GPU).

I always save this videos in watch later lol, everytime I reset my pc and intall vegas I watch these...Also in your veg 18 crash fixes vid, u said to disable something called so4... That removes compatability of .mp3 files, figured out after a long time...But overall The setting u tell are 100% affective!
The "so4" THING is nothing but the this new option from 3:35. LOL.

-Not sure what's up, but Vegas 19 has just started crashing today. I used Scrapyards settings in V18 - and had no issues. After reinstalling about 6 times today, I'm going back to 18 until 19 is more stable. [working with 4K/60 using Win10, i9-11900K @ 3.50GHz, 3090Ti, 128DDR4 and M.2 chips]
Step 6 is something I would not recommend in general (that is the reason for an internal preference). If you deactivate this means that some OpenGL processes are not working anymore. This interop creates some crashes for some old drivers and GPUs. For GPUs like NVIDIA Quadro cards you have to deactive this... because this interop is not suppported by the driver (crash in VEGAS).

On my laptop previews and renders contain hideous glitches when I use my nvidia driver unless I have this opengl setting set to false. I can use the onboard intel graphics without any need to fiddle with the opencl/gl setting.

Have you tested if Resizable BAR (SAM) and/or HAGS (Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling) have impact on stablity/rendering time with Vegas19/20?

I did not understand the mismatch frame thing. Do you have more on that?
So when you have different frame rate media, mathematically it usually doesn't perfectly line up. For example if you have a clip that's 23.97fps and you add it to a 24fps timeline, you will have an extremely small gap of 0.03 fps that will show up when you render your video as a very quick flicker of black. To fix this, you just have to drag either end of the clip and it will snap in to it's proper 24fps place on the timeline and you will not see that flicker of black. The problem is that you typically will not notice that you need to do this so by showing the unquantized frames, little red lines will appear on clips that have mismatched frame rates to let you know to drag the edges a little inward to fix it.
