  • As an adolescent, Helena identified as trans. But high doses of testosterone led to such extreme mood swings that she was hospitalized twice - yet none of the professionals on her team ever questioned what she was doing to her body, or why.
In this powerful and courageous interview, detransitioned woman Helena Kerschner shares her inside view on the fantasy versus reality of trans - the hopes and dreams she pinned onto a new identity, compared to the harsh realities she discovered from trying to live as a man. She unpacks the complex psychosocial factors she now sees contributed to her discomfort with being female, and how her therapist let her down by failing to see her true needs. She tells us about giving up the sunken cost fallacy, making up for lost time, and the arduous process of picking up the pieces of a shattered false identity to find out who she truly is.
Wise beyond her years, Helena Kerschner is an outspoken advocate for her fellow detransitioners, victims and survivors of gender medicine. You can follow her on Twitter @lacroicsz or read her blog at lacroicsz.substack.com.

Wow, my child had an awful therapist who really interfered with our relationship. He convinced my child that he needed surgery and that I was wrong to question where this came from. It has been horrific and we are still suffering. My child has had top surgery, thank God for Covid because it has delayed the rest. I pray my child comes through this relatively intact.

Well done! Thanks for an important interview. As a fellow therapist, it is heartening to find another therapist sounding the alarm to how young people are being harmed by this deception.

Another excellent interview by Stephanie and from Helena. I feel like we learned some new things about Helena in this interview. The part where the therapist who is mom’s friend talks to Helena about eating habits. Wow. It strikes me how many therapists are either not behaving ethically or how so many of them seem to be ignorant about what is really happening with these gender identifications. I hope they will begin to learn.

I genuinely feel for this woman and all that are in the vaious phases of this. They are and were being taken advantage of.

Hi There! Amanda Caulene here, Stephanie’s new assistant. I’m helping her catch up on DMs & comments. She wanted me to get back to everyone who has reached out lately, and let you know that while she doesn’t have the bandwidth to track & respond to every message across all platforms, she did just set up a new community for people who want to go deeper or ask questions, at somekindoftheraist.locals.com.
Members can ask questions & get answers in exclusive, private Q&A livestreams. Plus, engage with like-minded people, free of ads, bullies, & trolls. Stephanie might start offering backstage, early access to new podcast episodes while they’re being recorded, or other features suggested by members like you!
If you’re a thoughtful therapist, concerned parent, politically homeless citizen, or simply a free-thinking individual that enjoys You Must Be Some Kind of Therapist podcast, we encourage you to join this community. You can join free for your first month with code GRANDFATHER, after your first month, your membership is only $8/mo.
If you have a question for her next (and first!) private livestream, you can leave it as a comment right on this post:
      somekindoftherapist.locals.com/post/3654098/drop-you-questions-here-for-my-first-q-a-livestream
If I’ve sent you this message in error, please forgive me. I’m not personally aware of the details of everyone she has interacted with online, just trying to help out as she has a lot of messages coming in right now. If you have any other questions for her but you don’t think Locals is the right place - for instance, if you want to request an interview with her - feel free to reach out to me directly at amacdon23@gmail.com and I will do my best to route your question.
      Thanks for reading!

@29:00 well, women get sad and weep, and men get angry.
It’s one of many things that prove Mother Nature is a cruel bitch, and she really hates us women.

“Nature” does not hate women-and not just because you’re engaging in the reification fallacy and talking about “nature” as if it is an entity with a personality or an opinion about human females.
It’s great to be a woman. It comes with many challenges but also with great gifts. Forget bearing children for a moment. We can also have multiple orgasms that make us bolder, braver, and more creative in other aspects of our lives.
This kind of simplistic internalized misogyny is part of what got us and our girls here. We keep telling ourselves and our younger sisters that life sucks for women and the future is bleak.

@@edoboleyn Thank you so much for saying all this, I really needed to hear it.

I kinda laughed at the bit about not being able to feel her feelings and wondered if she was just describing normal male sensitivity from a female point of view. I'm like "Feelings? What? You mean like those things that girls have?"
