    It’s gonna happen and can be painful. The catheter is long enough so you won’t run into anything while being aroused. Usually, the erection will subside quickly as it can be more uncomfortable and painful than sexual. Yes, I’ve heard that you can engage in sexual activity, however, it may cause trauma from the heightened motion. You may want to abstain for the duration of cathing. However, it is possible…..it was just not for me.
    Cheers, and wishing you great health. Tony

    I always thought my waking erection was a piss hard. But awaking with an erection and a foley is painful when the cath is pulled taunt. But an awaking erection with a foley has proven that awakening morning erection is not from a full bladder. I recon it's just a blessing at age 60. I had my cath removed two days ago. So, I'm on top of the world. I'm extremely joyful that I am rid of that dreaded catheter tether. it was like a ball and chain attached to my junk!

I actually went to the ER because i couldnt pee at all. turns out i got sepsis and a 5 day stint in the hospital. i had 5 days of IV antibiotics and 2 weeiks of pills after i got out. its been just about 6 weeks since the turbt surgery and i feel pretty good. turns out i have an underlying prostate problem. i am going to have aqua ablasion at NYU TO CLEAR it. so i will have the cath for a while longer . been a month already. i did actually have a wet dream one night it was not fun. i know, a wet dream at 72!! must have been a freak thing. anyway, i have figured out like you did by trial and error what works. thanks for all the great info

    After having prostate cancer radiation treatments 10 years ago, I developed almost total ED. I got a catheter 10 days ago for urinary retention which was uncomfortable. So I was surprised one night when I had an erection. I guess the stimulation of the tube inside my penis was doing it. Proceeded to stroke it which was not painful for me. However I stopped short of climax to avoid contractions that might damage something inside. Still pleasurable to me. Have repeated a couple of times without problems.

    • @maletenance
      @maletenance  2 года назад +1

      Hey Warren, that's a freakin success story! Not the catheter part but the erection part. I wonder if there needs to be more research into what you say about the stimulation in the urethra that did it. Could you imagine......it would be revolutionary for so many men who suffer from ED.
      You should talk to your urologist to find out if anything would happen if you finished the job. I mean you're already having a good time, how great would be if you got the green light to go for it. Not to sound weird but keep me posted. I'm doing a lot of R & D on prostate issues, including advocating for earlier screenings and I finished my final patent filing for an improved catheter I designed that allows the user more range of motion so it's less painful for the user.
      Cheers mate and wishing you great health.

    • @maletenance
      @maletenance  Год назад +2

      Hi, from the comments it's possible without causing damage. Someone said they taped the catheter back onto their penis and put a condom on. There might be some irritation and pain but I don't know. Ask your urologist the risk to reward or.....not to be funny.....maybe go at a slower pace?
      I know about the erections and it was not easy....at times painful...my balls hurt. I knew there would be an end date and that's what kept me sane. I'm sure it would have been different if I knew it was going to be forever. I could and would never do abstinence by choice.
      May I ask what was your diagnosis that led you to catheter use and your age? It'll help me with the stats that I am working on to be a better advocate for men's health.

    In month three of a Foley catheter due to a really large prostate. Hopefully get surgery to fix before end of year. Heres a few things from my experience.
    At first was very painful. But I learned some things that really helped. It has impacted my life and I cant wait to have surgery to solve my issue and get rid of the catheter.
    Thoughts on sex with a catheter in for a man. Ejaculate can exit around the catheter. But what doesnt make it out will be trapped near the penis end of the urethra. Will that fluid cause a UTI? Something o ask your doctor I guess.

    • @maletenance
      @maletenance  Год назад

      Hey, thanks for sharing. Sounds like our stories with a foley catheter from an enlarged prostate are similar. Mine was 4 times larger than normal. I had to use a catheter for a lil over three months before my abdominal prostatectomy and you're so right about the impact on life.
      What kind of surgery are you having?
      Regarding your question about the residue ejaculate causing a UTI....it could if not cleaned up. Your hygiene is super important, even more so now than before, as having a foley can lead to a cesspool of infection which can lead to a UTI. I did a video about hygiene and basically what I did was pull my penis backward a little bit on the catheter at the tip to get the potential build-up that's just inside the tip. Not to be gross but I got a lil crusty once just inside as I was not as diligent as I should be but that's just me and I was way more careful after that. I actually no longer have to worry about ejaculating as the prostatectomy took that away.
      If you wouldn't mind telling me your age it would really help with the research I am doing to become more of an advocate for earlier screening and overall prostate care. The stats a mind-blowing and the age of those with BPH has dropped. The goal is to get men to get comprehensive care instead of reactive care.

      Boy, I have *One Doozy of an ACCIDENTAL Erection Story:*
      It was a medical procedure called a "Cystoscopy." You women must remember, the urine tube for men is a bit longer.......lol. Just last week, I had this cystoscopy performed.
      It's a flex-tube device with a camera and water injection thing attached. The urologist thought I had something inside my bladder (a growth or tumor).
      However, being male, I was super-paranoid! The urologist had my legs in the OB/GYN-type device as if I was about to give birth.... He had a female assistant and the rushing of the water stimulated my prostate (I should have been forewarned). It caused an involuntary erection. There I was, embarrassed to no end when I asked, "Why is this happening, Doctor?" His reply was that it's completely normal. - STILL: I was embarrassed! When he released the water, the erection died down a bit.
      - Two complete strangers, while I'm legs-spread with an erection...my word.
      Hopefully, *I'll never require another cystoscope procedure.*

    I had a foley in for 2 months, luckily i never had any pain. I freaked out the first night i got a boner and just kinda went still until it passed. I had an appt with my primary dr the next day so asked him about it. He was somewhat awkward about it but said it's ok & not to worry about it. The next time i carefully masturbated not intending to orgasm but went too far & did. The semen came out around the catheter. It was a little freaky but i survived with no ill effects. It was a relief to get the foley out, now i use intermittent catheters. I'm in my mid 50's. It's was quite a journey learning to live with it, my Dr & urologist didn't really tell me shit so i hope this helps some of you. Carry on!!!

      @@maletenance That happened to me too, the medical professionals not telling the patient how to deal, how long before the bag leaks & where to get a new bag, not being given a large bag for overnight & more. Surely they have the answers, why not explain everything to the patient? It was very frustrating. Plus you're dealing with having to self cath & trying not to freak out about that. My diagnosis is between my bladder & my prostate my urethra was made too small. I was born that way & never bothered me until now, and my bladder doesn't empty completely, urologist said I have a flaccid bladder. I'm resigned to it, I do what I gotta do. My kidneys are lobulated because the urine was backing up into my kidneys. That was a very long response. Happy to help anyone who is struggling like I was.

The mental and emotional stress is never talked about and I've spoken to countless men about it. You gotta get your head in the game to get through.
      There seems to be endless reasons for a person having continence issues. I tell you I never wished for something so bad as being able to pee on my own when I was diagnoses with BPH. Having that simple thing of taking a walk by myself changed me forever.
      Anyhow, not sure if you know but I made pamphlets with a QR code that lead you to the channel. I have been sending them to people I have met here, that they are giving to their doctors to use to give to patients, to provide peer support information on how to navigate life with a catheter. It's got a disclaimer that it is not medical advice...just first-person practical info that only a person who had a catheter would know. Let me know if you want me to send you some. If not no worries and if you have any other questions feel free to email me.

    I had a catheter in for 6 weeks.
    1. Yes, getting a boner was a bit painful. Let me be specific: the boner itself wasn't painful. What was mildly painful was the movement of the skin against the rubber catheter as the boner grew and then subsided. Like you said, you can't control your boners at night. I found that keeping the catheter clean from any sticky deposits helped minimize pain. The stickiness is what hurts.
    2. I never masturbated the entire time the catheter was in. No way I would've even attempted it, too much movement and would've hurt like hell.
    3. Getting the catheter removed was painless. It was a great day to get that thing removed and "get back to normal" if you know what I mean.

    I had a catheter for a week last year and this was a definite problem. In fact I dreaded to sleep after 3 am given the risks of involuntary physiological erections in the morning and a severe shearing pain accompanying them.
    Sadly I’ll need to have the same stiff silicon catheter again in a month, but this time for 3 weeks. My surgeon has suggested using diazepam to help with sleep and there is some literature that it helps with pain. I’ll feedback in a month about my experience.

      Hi Raneesh, Thank you for sharing your journey and I'm really sorry you have to deal with it all. Having to use a catheter for any period of time is not easy, add in night boners (boners in general) and well.....it's a lot.
      Personally, I tried to take the least amount of medications unless it was absolutely necessary. I knew the likelihood of getting an infection down there was high since I was going to have a catheter for many months and I would need antibiotics at some point, which have side effects (I think I did a video about my tongue turning brown and furry-like) and was concerned about how they would react with other medications I might need during the time of using a catheter. I'm not a huge fan of taking lots of medications.....interactions, addictions, etc. but that's just me but I also sleep like the dead.

Most guys don't like going to the doctors regardless, least of all when it comes to issues down there, and after 5 years he's been through a lot. Regarding Covid and safety - I went to the urologist all through Covid and the doctor's office took extra precautions to make sure it was a safe and clean environment so it would not spread. I tested negative the entire time.
      I say this with respect - Only a medical professional can truly offer the best care for his medical journey. Maybe it's better coming from his doctor. The urologist can call him to explain procedures, what it entails, side effects, advantages, and disadvantages, etc.

      I asked the urologist about the Rezum med(?)steam technique, but DH's prostate is too large;cystoscopy will show what might be the best way to reduce the prostate size. I suspect this is what you meant by the steam.

      Night boners with a catheter hurt and wake you up. On the flip side, your body is doing what it's supposed to do naturally and hopefully, that will continue for years to come. Hang in there. Cheers, Tony

      I didn't (I lived in NYC during my time with a catheter and took the subway) but many people do. You may have to adjust the positioning of the leg bag so it's more comfortable and not pulling.

      @@davidthompson5766 Hi David, you are much braver than I was that's for sure. Not to be intrusive, or inappropriate, if you could share how it went - preparation, partners' thoughts, pain or not, what you might do the same or differently, etc it would be really helpful for those that find themselves in similar circumstances.
      The reason I ask is so many out there that have to use a catheter could use this information and not feel so lost.
      There is so little info for catheter users (and partners) be it short or long-term use, however, having to live with a catheter, for many different reasons, affects so so many. It's why I started the channel...I was freakin lost.
