    You will inevitably have urine leak out at some point. Oftentimes, this occurs because of a bladder spasm. The spasm can force urine out unexpectedly, causing an embarrassing wet spot. I’ll show you a trick, beyond men’s pads, that will save you some embarrassment and humiliation. Also, public hand dryers come in handy in a pinch.
    Cheers, and wishing you great health. Tony

    If ur bypassing urine what I do is push slight in the balloon and let it drop to base of bladder itself for a good seal always works esp before leaving house and leakage is minimal

      Thank you again for the kind words. I made a pamphlet that gets you to my RUclips channel in an effort to get more urologist offices to utilize my peer support. I was wondering if you might have a suggestion on how to get it into the hands of more caregivers like yourself? I'm also trying to get them into the ER as this is where many people make first contact with a urinary catheter and are discharged with no information. It will help so many. Not just the patient but the caregivers. Here's the link to the pamphlet videos ruclips.net/video/2mP6X76MmO8/видео.html

      Thank you for the comments. It makes it all worthwhile that I put myself out there when I get a comment like yours. I'm sorry that you have to have surgery. I've been there and made videos.
      May I ask what is your diagnosis and what surgery are you having? It helps me with my advocacy for men's health to collect some stats. Too many of us are facing issues. Also, feel free to email me if you prefer some discretion.

      I wish I knew about those mini pads.....and they make them for men too! I guess it's defiantly something that females are more accustomed to know more about than males. I knew nothing. But alas I wore an adult diaper. It was so bizarre because I felt like everyone knew which they didn't but my mind was playing tricks on me. Thank you for taking the time to share your comments. It'll be very helpful to many.

    Very helpful information thankyou. Is it possible to have more on bladder spasms? In my case i get them very often and they are painful. I need to go to shower after to wash backside as i leak pooh. Im in and out of shower all night. I was given Zapcare a day to calm the spasm and told they will decrese naturally by time as body accepts the foreignbody (catheter). I am truly hoping for this as i feel exhausted. Appreciate any help or advise. I had Catheter now for 5 days and dr says i need to have it for another 5 weeks to check if prostate shrank and I can do without 🙏

    • @maletenance
      @maletenance  Год назад +1

      Hi Albert, Firstly, I'm so sorry you have to deal with a catheter and secondly, I'm glad the information is helpful. My experience with bladder spasms was not too intense. Once my body got used to it over about a week, they subsided and if I had one it was much milder. However, from what I understand about them is, it varies from person to person, the intensity. How severe or how mild it will be and how long it will last can be quite different based on the individual. Physiology, weight, sometimes the size of the catheter, and even diagnosis will determine how a person adjusts to having a catheter. I'm sorry I don't have more info that can bring you some relief. What I will suggest is getting adult diapers for the unfortunate, yet normal mishaps, while your body acclimates. I know it's another thing to add but it's an end to a means. I did it because I needed some peace of mind and some sleep and to stop crying every time I crapped myself. Not totally crying just feeling defeated and miserable....ok maybe there were one or two tears. It's no fun shitting yourself. Anyhow, I was physically and mentally exhausted and had months to go before surgery. I even bought weewee pads. As I think about it now, maybe the bladder spasms were lessened because I got prepared for accidents, which allowed me to breathe and relax. I dunno......the whole mind-body connection might be a thing. I hope that helps a lil. May I ask what is the diagnosis that brought you to catheter use? Mine was severe BPH....peeing stopped completely. I tried medication but alas in my situation I had waited too long and my prostate was the size of an orange and I needed surgery. I'm here for any other questions, to listen, and for moral support. If you ever wanna talk email me. Hang in there mate. Cheers, Tony

    How it leaks when it's a foley catheter? Leak in pocket you mean?

    • @maletenance
      @maletenance  7 месяцев назад

      There were times when there was some liquid that bypassed the catheter or when the catheter and the bag separated by accident.

    • @maletenance
      @maletenance  8 месяцев назад

      I'm sorry you have to deal with leakage on top of everything else. Have you addressed this with your doctor? Maybe you need a different-sized catheter? Male pads would help with the leaking or if its more liquid an adult diaper might be an option. The ones that look like regular underwear are the best.

    Just completely soak your pants - then wet spots dissappear.

    • @maletenance
      @maletenance  Год назад

      No no not quite. It's a tip for when you accidentally leak on the outside of the catheter, which can happen. A bladder spasm may trigger it. I wore an adult diaper after surgery when the catheter was finally out. I could not hold my pee. Had to relearn, like a toddler. Let me tell you.....it's a whole new world standing in a group of people in a public place taking a piss and no one knows.

      @@kennelson3848 Ken all good mate. I get some off-the-cuff comments sometimes but it usually has nothing to do with me and everything to do with how difficult it is for the commenter going through their own health issues. I always reach back out and every time it turns into something positive. I've spoken to so many men who are just shaken about what's going on, who are so grateful to vent when there has been no one else to talk to about all this crap. It's kind of a club you never wanted to be a part of, so I try to support the members. By the way Ken what was your diagnosis that led you here and how did you find the videos? Tony

      @kennelson3848 Год назад

      @@maletenance It's so great you understand - makes it more OK. What led me here was probably too much with long sessions of masterbation for years & years. Always was a self sex fiend and truly thought taking myself to the limit, then holding off was super healthy. I am fit & youthful as a result. So started noticing a protrusion in the abdomen after sessions made it difficult to pee, and no more semen, just lots of pre-come. Wrote the whole mess off to getting older and that was that. Then it got harder to go so had to find out what the hell it was. Walked up to Zuckerberg General Hospital to urgent care where I was given a Cat Scan which revealed distended bladder & enlarged prostate. So though the past 7 months a lot of research info & procedure videos led me to your wonderful oasis. Ken

    • @maletenance

      Thanks for sharing Ken. All men are in trouble if an enlarged prostate is the end result of years of self pleasure. I ended up having to have basically my whole prostate removed. I remember sitting with the urologist in the pre-consultation and him going over the details of what to expect and just sliding over the fact that I wold never be able to have an ejaculation again, and just kept going like he was saying "it's gonna rain tomorrow". I was floored. Life changed forever. It was a loss and I had to mourn it. I'm ok with it...I have no choice....but somedays...not often...I feel broken.
      People will never know, unless they go through it, how difficult it is, especially when it comes to our privates, thats why I'm trying to help. Life is tricky as it is, then throw in a health crisis.
      Anyhow, I'm around if you ever wanna talk....it helps. Cheers Tony
