How to drive safely. How to pass
This video is filmed during a driving lesson. It is filmed for educational purposes.
Throughout the video there are highlights to show how you should be driving safely.
I hope this video will be useful! :)

At first i thought she wouldn't need to stop, but until i really looked and saw he was on his phone, head down, not paying attention, walking on a crossing which traffic light was green... as a learner, I don't blame her. Don't think she should've got scolded for that. She should've checked her centre mirror though to see how close the car behind is to make a better judgement. But she reacted well, bless her.
Yes, that's just Erin's missing experience (and Aman's “Brake” instruction wasn't clear in my opinion). The pedestrian's choice wasn't very smart either. But the other driver is still the bigger idiot, in my opinion. They were either following too close or impatient. The car has a L on it and brakes at a traffic light when someone is crossing. Just wait five seconds, the following traffic light was red anyway. What's the rush? “Unsafe to stop”? Sure. But what about “Unsafe to cross the road” or “unsafe to overtake”?
I don’t think she scolded her the cars behind could have crashed and caused a major problem.
I'm sorry but I'f I seen a pedestrian crossing in the middle of a busy road and my instructor said brake... I'm breaking to a stop 🤷♀️
You dealt with that situation with the idiot crossing the road between traffic very professionally, Aman. In my experience with my first instructor, he would have raised my voice at me, which is why I got another one. Learner drivers make mistakes, and pressure leads to more mistakes, so seeing you help Erin through that was brilliant. Erin looked like she got a bit flustered, but it didn't get affect her confidence, and that's partially thanks to you. Keep doing what you're doing!!
It was her fault in the first place for saying to brake. Should have said slow down, as its clearer.
@@saifahmad1921 Exactly, it was green, she had no reason to say brake...
Brake does mean slow down in instructions. Stop means stop, the instructor would have developed her use of language with the pupil in other lessons. Unfortunately pupils will hear turn left, and actually turn right, happens every day, and she probably completely understood the command, it just didn’t process clearly at that time
@@saifahmad1921 what the instructor said had no bearing, erin had already acted based off instinct before she would have even considered what orders she had been given.
hmm some interesting differences of opinion here. I dunno who is at fault, it's a unique situation that doesn't get spoken about until it happens. I had something similar happen like this on my motorcycle test years ago, and the instructor told me I can't just stop on a main road to give way to traffic lol. If I hadn't made that mistake I know for a fact it wouldnt have been brought up. We are lucky to have these videos to allow us to learn from others mistakes
I wish I had this channel when I was learning to drive. My tutor wasn't ideal and raised his voice at me a few times for making simple mistakes that learners are going to make. Having something like this to get the lesson info in a calm way without being on the lesson and stressed, just seems ideal. I'm sure you're helping thousands of people get through their journey
Pedestrian made her overthink too much, least it’s a lesson learned at the end of the day. Better to do that than on your actual driving test. 😄
It’s about watching the pedestrian to see whether he has seen your car and intends to let you lass first.
I was quite a nervous driver like Erin when I started but I passed my driving test yesterday with 3 minors! Your videos were super helpful to watch and I seriously don't think I would have passed without them, thanks!!
Heyyy. I’m currently also a nervous driver and I’ve have over 20 hours of driving alongside my upcoming test which I’m dreading. Do you have any tips?
@@monerakifai6089 I would say from my experience it's okay to be nervous whilst driving, I still am now even though I've passed and definitely was on my test!! You just have to make sure you stay in control of the car and most importantly stay safe, don't let your nerves make you rush something as you could be causing a danger which would be a fail on the test, except maybe times such as merging into a lane or on a roundabout where it may be best to put more gas on so you're not holding up traffic behind you. I know my instructor would say 'dont change your mind change your approach' eg if I decided to take a gap at a junction and then realised it wasn't as big as I thought, it was better to speed up and take the gap faster rather than instead choose to wait when I may already be in the road and blocking traffic. Also don't be afraid to tell your instructor of things you're worried about or get confused on, they can help explain what to do and what not to do so the next time you're nervous about the same thing you can remember what they said to help you feel better. Also, I watched so many youtube videos I can't count them but they all defo helped, clearview driving, DGN driving school and conquer driving (who also has a video about helping with nerves) were the biggest three that helped me but theres loads more! The mock tests are brilliant for making sure you know exactly what to expect and what you need to do in the driving test which is a massive boost, and try some with your own instructor if you can. Lastly I think is just to stay in the moment when you're driving and focus on what you're currently doing and seeing rather than worrying about things that went wrong in the past or what might in the future. Hope this all makes sense and can help you with your driving!! Let me know how your test goes and good luck!!
I passed my test today with 3 minors. Thanks for all your help.
I can now watch these for entertainment 😀
samee ,congratss
props to her for doing this. a lot of pressure and she handled it well :)
I’m at this exact stage with my lessons as Erin, and I feel watching her she’s so nervous just the way I am. Can’t wait to see how she progresses. X
The nervousness goes away with experience, after facing these situations over and over it builds your confidence and you do it automatically
Mein Schatzi Nicole ich liebe Deine beste Freund Philippe Barz für immer zusammen mit 💝💝♥️♥️♥️👍👍😘😘♥️♥️
Thanks for the video. Lessons are more enjoyable when there is good rapport between the learner and the instructor. Keep up the good work!
I passed my test first time on Thursday. I was such an anxious learner. Your videos helped so much and I’ll be staying around to watch Saima pass because I am absolutely rooting for her.
Poor Erin!
One thing my driving instructor told me which I still say aloud today in the situation is "Less Space, Less Speed". It reminds me that okay I have less space coming up due to a narrow road, parked cars or some other hazard, so I need to slow down. It's like Aman said, slowing down gives you more time to react and deal with the hazards. It's all practice and 100% a confidence thing.
I was a super nervous learner like Erin but practice helps alot with confidence.
Erin will get there soon I am sure of it! ☺️
Aman mentioned before starting to watch out for peds. So I'm pretty sure she planted the road crosser man to test Erin's driving in the rain. Take a bow Aman!
Passed my driving test yesterday with only 2 minors. Thank you for your videos they really helped a lot will still continue to watch ☺️😁🚙
Hopefully you’ll get over that constant fear you have. All the best for your lessons and test when it comes. ❤
I passed my test recently without any faults.
Your videos helped me a lot.thank you very much
been able to drive for years now but still enjoy these videos ❤
Amazing teaching again… loving Erin’s trainers I would love some of those ❤❤
I'm sure Erin will get there and become a good driver!
I sense that's she's overthinking and waiting for instruction off Aman instead of doing it off her own back but it's all a learning curve and we were all there at some point. Keep it up 🙌
“Relax, brake, don’t do that” “Stop here, keep going forward” If a learner has never come across these hazards, I’m not sure I’d know what to do with those instructions either 😂
It was a series of fast developing hazards which the instructor had to quickly update instructions, just like you as a driver would change your mind quickly too. Would love to see your reaction and instructions in those situations 😊
@@sarahm3925 She wont rim you darling
Watch alot of this lass then watch DGN driving school and see the difference between her and Pin. No need to explain anythin else to you..just watch and compare the differences when it comes to clarity
Always enjoy watching the vids with Erin, i think she’s gonna be a great driver! but i must say her foot positioning on the pedals always makes me nervous 😂😅
I think the best advice is tooo try not to overthink it
I did a mock today in storm babet failed it miserably yet had my first mock the day previously and only got 8 minors so a pass but I've noticed you learn much more from mistakes than getting it right after all failure is the greatest teacher its also helped my nerves thinking this way my test is a week today I'm just hoping the weather chills out a bit
Passed my test but still love watching these for some reason
I wish I had you as my driving instructor aha. My one had me driving on a primary road at 80 km/hr on my econd ever lesson. Was properly pooing myself the entire time and haven't done a lesson since.
I just had my driving test and I passed😃 thanks for all the videos☺️
I have been driving for 15yrs but somehow seem hooked on yr vids, not sure why? I think to myself is it cause I need to improve my driving skills or you look so cute with your reactions.
Got my test tomorrow looking forward to it! Have been watching your videos for a while now I’m hoping some of it comes into play
Good luck you’ll be great!
did you pass????
@@lisamorgan2540 yeah literally passed with 3 minors
and now you got into a clear view driving video :>😌
Don’t worry I did the same thing on my second lesson but it was a family at a zebra crossing, crazy thing is the family was nowhere near the crossing, wasn’t even looking to cross and I was about 100 yards from it too! Nearly launched my instructor out the windscreen and covered my eyes with my hands 😅
She didn’t need to stop. He was totally wrong for even crossing when the light was green but he kind of stopped when he saw her coming. He was far from the car. She should’ve just kept driving calmly
I agree. I don't know the laws in the UK but where i live in the US if someone is even in the street on the other side you have to stop and cannot do. you can get a pretty hefty fine depending on the situation if a cop was to see you do it. It's really dumb tbh
If you are on a test and continued to drive the examiner will break for you 100% regardless if the pedestrian is in the wrong they will still intervine and break for you which will lead to you failing your test the new rules if a pedestrian is in the road you must give way to them
I think if its an adult crossing we should just sound the horn and keep driving but if its a kid or something then we definitely need to hit the brake.
@@aronworrall5758 my driver instructor would tell me to keep driving. It was just a tricky situation
@@waqas1358 I agree with you
5:31 some pedestrians can really be reckless. Why stroll across a busy road on a green light when checking your phone?
A lot of people do that because they can see a gap approaching in the distance, but fail to realise the effect that stepping out has on drivers nearby. Definitely reckless to do it in front of a learner!
@@user-mv5zt8qd9l he was on the other side of the f road she nearly caused a crash by just stopping
@Kara Zor-El I didn't say she was right to emergency brake? If anything, I pointed out that continuing slowly would have been safer as people who step out like this have often already picked a gap to cross through and stopping suddenly is obviously dangerous with drivers behind you.
Based on the reactions of the vehicle behind, there was danger both from the pedestrian and following traffic. It was an all-around bad incident for a beginner to have to deal with and really shows why it's so incredibly dangerous to act unpredictably near a novice driver. The vehicle overtaking as Erin was trying to move off again did nothing to make the situation better, either.
On my lessons, I once tried to overtake a binlorry/binwaggon when it wasn't clear ahead. I couldn't actually see round the lorry but felt pressure to overtake. The instructor did brake for me and stop the car.
best instructor ever
Had a driving refresher lesson from 12:30 for 2 hours or so because I haven't driven much in a few years so had to miss this video as soon as it went up / premiered, but watching it now :) Not sure what that brake is about with the person crossing though, she can see that they stopped in the middle so shouldn't have continued braking to a stop at least... Also mentioned on one of the previous videos that she has a habit for sharp braking a bit like at 0:15. Better to roll in slower and not make the judgment so early but it can be difficult to gauge it, but wasn't too sharp here
As someone who nearly walked out into moving traffic because I was distracted on my phone, until my friend dragged me back, I think she did a great job stopping. Maybe a mirror check next time tho.
Your lesson is very good, regularly watching you,and this lesson you very well explain today is raining so what type of Hazzard will happen,I got 43lesson but my instructor never explain like that,so thank you so much for that.
I passed my driving test on 29th od Dec, just wanted to thank you for your videos they helped me a lot, I'll continue to watch them haha
Aman reminds me of Kate (Simone Ashley) from Bridgerton. 🥺
Welcome Erin🙋♂️🙋♂️
If you can drive round london the rest of the uk will be pretty easy, good luck Erin.
Seven episodes so far with Erin.
Hopefully she booked herself a test at least to set a target and a goal.
We all like seeing her progress and do well.😊
I would have done the same thing, the problem is the traffic behind. I'm wondering if sounding the horn was a better option there?
I like your driving videos send me more🎉
Watched some of your mock test this morning never done 1. Passed 2nd time with 3minors thought I failed and was about to give up. Went the wrong way 2times but done everything safe 🙏 My 2nd test was a harder route and though I failed for alot of stuff and was over thinking. My instructor only told me today I can drive just over think things. But I passed so happy wish my dad was here to see it ❤
Ahhh bless you about your dad ❤, I. Just teaching my son who is 17 and I have picked up so many bad habits and forgot the proper rules to driving so this channel is really informative, glad I found it.

Why two tests darl ?? I don't understand,, we only do one here in Australia,,🎀
@@techmechpoint2554 70-80 per lesson,,🎀
@@charmaineelizabeth8723 cos he failed mate. So have to re do it, so in Australia if you smash the car up or run someone over you still pass? It’s just one test ?? 😂
I've had like 80 hours or so (possibly more) now some with different instructors but regardless I've had 60 hours with the one instructor I'm with now. It's been a long journey since April 2022 but I have had some breaks between lessons as well (at times like one month), some bad experiences with previous instructors as well which knocked my confidence. Last lesson which was a month ago, I did my first mock test and it wasn't too bad - failed with 2 majors and a few minors. Had my first lesson today after a month and it was ok but it's still not quite consistent enough and up to test standard. My actual test is coming in 4 weeks time and my instructor is a little concerned and feels I may not be ready in time.
This has knocked my confidence even further. I have waited a long time and felt I would definitely be ready by now. I'm just hoping I can be ready in these next few weeks. I had one one off lesson with an instructor after about 20 hours and he said I wasn't far from my test and that was back in June 2022! So I don't know if my current instructor is mugging me off a bit. He does take me on some difficult routes as well, like the one I had today.
I'm an older male, almost 40 and with some breaks in between I don't know if that's affected my skills at all. Age wise it may be understandable but as a man, it's unacceptable to take this long.
Sounds like u need more positive reinforcement from your instructor , tell them, and definitely sounds like u need to up the frequency of your lessons to build up to test - good luck!
Who says what is and what isn’t acceptable on how long it should take a man to learn to drive everyone is different some of us get it straight away others don’t. I’m in my 40s and have been learning to drive for about 6 months now and think it may be another 6 months before I’m ready for my test.. don’t be harsh on yourself. Hope you passed would be interested to know how you did
@@melissay8112 Hi Melissa thanks for the message and comments. Appreciate it. I'm pleased to say my driving got better, literally in my last few lessons and I went ahead for my test on the 14 Feb, and passed with 3 minors. So perhaps I was too hard on myself but in any case it's such a relief to get it out of the way now. I'm about to buy my first car and the anxiety is kicking in again but at least it's finally over. Good luck on yours too, when is your test?
How did you do?
I’m about to take my test tomorrow after only 30hours ish of driving and I have good days and bad days. I failed one mock test, passed another.
I’d just book it and try, what have you to lose?
Try a mock test with your instructor and practice under examine conditions and driving independent.
What kind of camera are you using for filming the road? Many thanks in advance!
I passed this morning lets gooooo!!!

Always leave the AC on. On any temperature even when using heat as the AC will dehumidify the air. Your windows will never fog up.
17:04 speed increases as clutch is down and braking not enough earlier, and then comes to an early stop from the line. not too sharp though
Weird one she stopped for the lad was on my driving test sammme thing happened with me but it was the examiner who slammed the brake when he wasn't even close to me other side of the road.....
I passed today with only two minors!! Thank you for the great videos, really helped supplement my driving lessons.
I’ve got my test in the morning, now all the sudden these videos arnt so fun to watch haha wish me luck 😭
Update: I passed after a couple attempts with 6 minors. I was really nervous but not passing first time makes you appreciate it even more ! 😁
Hehe you should experience indian Street once in life you will become pro driver for sure
Good luck you’ll be great!

I think getting a habit of sounding the horn is very important in case of pedestrians crossing. I also have a difficult time sounding the horn so im still working on it.
Getting used to applying the brakes before using the horn is a better habit
@@migs6674 yeah but if u apply the brake theres no point of sounding the horn cause the dude will pass through anyway. The horn is used when u wanna stop the dude from passin and tell em that u aint stoppin ya feel me.
5:28 What an complete freaking tit, walking out on to the road like that, not as if it's a busy road, all he had to do was wait for it to be clear on both sides. Poor Erin, bad call there, should have worked around that tit, once Erin and Mr. Magoo were aware of each other it became safe to progress with caution, breaking like that, on a green light is to play with fire, thankful no collision , who needs that to start the year 🙏
Traffic lights with weird timings like 5 mins on red and 10 seconds on green
That horn blowing incident would have spilled my coffee to be honest. I would have stopped as well, even if I am from another country. A zombie like that person could potentially decide to step in front of your car. I would advise to never take chances to see if you could slip past. You have 1.5 tons underneath you, it can roll over anything living and inflict serious damage even at low speeds.
The stop was sudden, a horn toot would be enough to keep me awake that I made a dangerous decision .. but considering the UK's road rules, if someone blares the horn that much, that car was way too close at that speed. So just .. do some self reflection.
Lesson to take away; if you notice you are in an urban setting AND that pedestrians are about, consider being sharp, get ready to make decisions earlier - even if it annoys the one behind. Annoying but safe is okay, straight dangerous to everyone is not.
(This is not an expectation towards someone with less than 10 hours behind the wheel, just my thoughts)
Hoooorayyyyyy
How many hours you did ?
How many lessons in is the student? Im a PDI & trying to get my teaching level correct.
❤
I've had a couple of occasions where I started overtaking busses and they moved off just as I started overtaking them and they matched my speed instead of letting me overtake, leaving me in the middle the road. How would you handle such a situation?
hold back if you can or you may have to stop in the road (if its safe to do so) A quick glance in the rear view mirror before stopping to allow other drivers time to stop.
you could also beep to let the bus driver know you are there if you arent able to stop.
@Robin and Ned So you think they hadn't seen me? I just assumed they were being pr(beeep)cks 😁 I hate using my horn unlike all those aggressivedrivers, but in that case it was dangerous so yeah, I guess I should have. Thanks for the tip!
How much is it for 2 hour driving lessons as I need a refresh on my manual driving since my previous driving instructor retired.
How long does your sex last?
Let's see how you progress
What car are you driving for lessons? Thanks.
A class
Difficult decision but not sure if this was the right call as the person was quickly crossing at the traffic lights and had not Erin braked would have made contact, or a near miss, as he was distracted. This sadly is a regular occurrence, particularly in built up areas.
The New Highway Code 8 (2022) although unclear favours the pedestrian when crossing. The car driving behind your vehicle should be at a safe distance to anticipate danger.

20:57 should have been an opportunity for erin to make use of the horn. that hazardous car was parked incorrectly and not even with hazard lights on, its clear that the person is just having a chat and causing obstruction. Aman should not have made erin drive around that, using the horn instead would have shown her that she has priority so the car should move & give her right of way, also would have increased her confidence as a learner on the road and shown that even with her lesser experience, she still does deserve respect from other drivers. poor teaching from the instructor at that point
